The a-amino acid derivatives constitute a class of compounds of particular medicinal and synthetic attention and considerable interest has been devoted to their synthesis in recent *** the present work,we develop the computational study of the synthesis reaction of new pyrazolyl a-amino esters derivatives using the Gaussian 09based on the DET/B3LYP density functional theorv method,with the base 6-31G(d.p)to ensure the possibility of carrying out these reactions within the laboratory of ***,this research has encouraged us to establish an economical synthesis strategy of these products in overall vields of 73.5%to 87%to have access to new active biomolecule through the O-alkvlation reaction between methyl a-azidoglycinate N-benzoylated and primary pyrazole alcohols(3,5-dimethyl-1 H-pyrazol-1-yl)methanol,(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methanol and(3-ethoxy-5-methyl-1H-pyrazol-1yl)methanoll under different operating *** structure of the prepared heterocyclic systems was characterized by conventional spectroscopic techniques,like H NMR.I3℃NMR,and *** results revealed that the experimental study is in good correlation with the computational one.

With a world growing in population and nutritional needs, diatoms are considered nowadays as microalgae of a very important potential, thus they are exploited in several fields such as ecology, aquaculture, molecular farming, and pharma nutraceuticals. These coveted microalgae are characterized by their diversity, their high division rates, their complex life cycle, likewise their silicified cell walls named frustules. Thus, diatoms have been used for over a century after proving an efficient production of several molecules including Triacylglycerols (TAGs), H2, free fatty acids, vitamins, nutraceuticals, amino acids, proteins, terpenoids, alcohols and carbohydrates like starch, glycogen, and sucrose. Phaeodactylum tricornutum is the most promising diatom exploited to date, especially as a platform of pharmaceutical production. Herein, we expose diatoms’ main features that allowed using them for molecular farming. This review exposes likewise, the metabolism and the post-translational modifications (PTMs) of diatoms as well as current tools and challenges for their molecular and metabolic engineering for a more efficient production of valuable molecules. The knowledge on the biology of the diatoms, the molecular tools, and the various transformation methods available demonstrate the potential in biotechnology of these photosynthetic microorganisms. The widely studied P. tricornutum, as a model organism, is a promising diatom for production of valuable metabolites, despite the challenges and issues related to cultivation.

Located south of the West Bank, Wadi Al-Samen is considered one of the most important sources of groundwater recharge for the eastern aquifer in Hebron. It is polluted by sewage originating from domestic and industrial consumption in the Hebron area. Water quality assessment is an important criterion for achieving sustainable development. To evaluate water quality, twenty samples were collected from groundwater sources for two seasons and were analyzed for Physical properties (Total dissolved solids (TDS), Electrical conductivity (EC), potential hydrogen (pH), Temperature (T)), Four major cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, Na+ and K+), and the Major anions (HCO-3, Cl-, and SO2-4);geochemical methods such as Piper scheme were used for the sample result analysis. To characterize wastewater components, six samples were collected from the Wadi discharge for two seasons and were analyzed (potential hydrogen (pH), Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), Total Suspended Solids (TDS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The results of nitrate levels showed that 20% of the ground water samples exceeded the standard limit of the World Health Organization (WHO). The quality of drinking water was assessed using the Water Quality Index (WQI), which suggests that 10% of samples are classified from poor to very poor. The abundance of cations from highest to lowest was found to be: Ca;Mg;Na, and for the anions it is HCO3;Cl;SO4. The dominant hydrochemical facies of 35% of collected aquifer samples reveal that Ca-Mg-Na-Cl-HCO3 are in the domain. Evaluation of irrigation suitability was performed using parameters of Sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), electric conductivity (EC), and Salinity. Morphometric Assessment of Two Watersheds of High Atlas of Morocco Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques: What Is the Impact on Surface Water Availability?

The abundance or scarcity of surface water in a watershed is related to environmental factors including its morphology, substrate type, rainfall, slope, and exposure to moist air masses. The combination of these characteristics explains the hydrological behavior of the river network, knowledge of which is important for water resources management. Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing are efficient tools to assess the morphometric characteristic in a watershed. Using these tools, the physical characterization of the two water basins located on either side of the High Atlas of Morocco was investigated in this study. The results show that the Upper Draa basin is characterized by an elongated shape, with a drainage density of 0.14 km/km2. Altitudes and slopes vary little and slopes are oriented in most cases towards the southeast (27.34%). Substrate is mostly permeable, which promotes infiltration and aridity of the soil. This contrasts with the Zat basin that is characterized by very variable elevations and slopes, and slopes are mainly exposed to the North and North-West (30.42%), which therefore favors strong runoff and a very high flow velocity. The hydrological contrast observed in the two basins impacts the human use of surface water. These results effectively explain the hydrological behavior and provide managers with useful information for better management and decision-making regarding the two studied hydro systems.

Corticosteroid-Induced Multifocal and Extensive Lipomatosis: A Case Report

Introduction: Corticosteroid-induced lipomatosis are uncommon situation. We report a case of an extensive lipomatosis in a rheumatoid arthritis patient, who received a long term steroid therapy. Case report: A 49-year-old rheumatoid arthritis woman, who received for two years a mean dose of 15 mg/ day of prednisone equivalent, was admitted to the hospital for a six months history of progressive abdominal distension and dyspnea. Physical exam revealed typical symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome and an important increase of abdominal volume. Lipomatosis diagnosis with mesenteric, mediastinal, retroperitoneal and epidural localizations, was rapidly confirmed by sonography and computed tomography (CT) exams. Management was based on corticosteroid reduction as well as use of hygiene and dietary measures. Therapeutic efficacy was noted on a clinical basis within one year. Discussion: lipomatosis occurs as a less known complication of long-term steroid therapy. Its localizations are numerous. Epidural and mediastinal lipomatosis are more frequent than mesenteric or retroperitoneal ones. Most frequently asymptomatic, lipomatosis could sometimes be revealed by false symptoms. Medical treatment including corticosteroid with drawal or reduction and calorie restriction, can lead to clinical improvement. Surgery is reseved in advanced forms with serious complications.

For several decades, tamoxifen has proven effective in reducing recurrence and mortality for early and metastatic breast cancer with positive estrogen receptors, and has been proven to be beneficial in preventing breast cancer in high-risk women. However, tamoxifen has been associated with an increased risk of endometrial cancer by its agonist effects on the endometrium in postmenopausal women. The purpose of this article, through an exhaustive summary of literature, is to provide a better understanding of this relationship and its impact on managed care on patients.

Imidacloprid enhances liver damage in Wistar rats: Biochemical, oxidative damage and histological assessment

Objective: To investigate the potential adverse effects of imidacloprid on biochemical parameters, oxidative stress and liver damage induced in the rat by oral sub-chronic imidaclopride exposure. Methods: Rats received three different doses of imidacloprid (1/45, 1/22 and 1/10 of LD50) given through gavage for 60 days. Two dozen of male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four experimental groups. Liver damage was determined by measuring aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase leakages. The prooxidant-antioxydant status in hepatic tissue homogenate was evaluated by measuring the degree of lipid peroxidation, the antioxidant enzymes activities such as catalase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Results: The relative liver weight was significantly higher than that of control and other treated groups at the highest dose 1/10 of LD50 of imidacloprid. Additionally, treatment of rats with imidacloprid significantly increased liver lipid peroxidation (P ≤ 0.05 or 0.01) which went together with a significant decrease in the levels of superoxide dismutase and catalase activities. Parallel to these changes, imidacloprid treatment enhanced liver damage as evidence by sharp increase in the liver enzyme activities of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase. These results were also confirmed by histopathology. Conclusions: In light of the available data, it is our thought that after imidacloprid sub-chronic exposure, depletion of antioxidant enzymes is accompanied by induction of potential oxidative stress in the hepatic tissues that might affect the function of the liver which caused biochemical and histopathological alteration.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare disease involving clonal proliferation of langerhans cells seen in children and young adults. Clinical presentation is variable, ranging from a single location in the bone to severe multivisceral involvement. Moreover, spinal involvement causing myelopathy is even rare and unusual. We report a rare case of adult Langerhans cell histiocytosis in the dorsal spine causing a spinal cord compression associated with a pulmonary process treated by surgery, radiotherapy and systemic therapy with good evolution.

Today,due to the increasingly stringent European directives concerning the use of molecules with certain toxicities towards the environment or their users,the essential oils,extracts,and molecules derived from plants exhibiting the characteristic of being biodegradable can be considered as a source of green corrosion inhibitors instead of harmful synthetic *** present work was devoted to testing the essential oil extracted from Mentha pulegium leaves(M1) as a corrosion inhibitor for C-steel in 1mol/L HCl solution using both electrochemical techniques and gravimetric measurements for the evaluation of the inhibition efficiencies at different *** results obtained showed that the inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in Ml concentration to reach a maximum value of 92.21%.We sought to determine the molecule responsible for this high efficiency,starting with the analysis of oil chemical composition by gas chromatography coupled with mass *** analysis revealed that menthol(M2)and isomenthol(M3)were the principal *** order to identify the molecule responsible for the inhibition and explain the protection mechanism involved,quantum chemical calculations and Monte Carlo simulations were used to explain the interaction of menthol,the major constituent of M1 with the *** practically confirm these results,we studied the action of 1mol/L HCl on steel with and without the addition of M2 by both methods(gravimetric and electrochemical study).A very high efficiency was obtained,an efficiency of 94.90% at 10^-3 mol/L,which was retained for a long exposure time,and slightly decreased in function of ***,a good correlation between the experimental data,theoretical calculations,and SEM studies was obtained,which denied that the Ml efficiency was only a result of a synergy effect and confirmed the high efficiency of Mentha oil and its main component(menthol)as a strong ecological inhibitor of corrosion.
