A Damage Scenario for the 2012 Northern Italy Earthquakes and Estimation of the Economic Losses to Residential Buildings

In May 2012 a seismic sequence occurred in Northern Italy that was characterized by two main shocks with a magnitude range between 5.5 and 6. These shocks represent a good case study by which to quantify the monetary losses caused by a moderate earthquake in a densely populated and economically well-developed *** loss estimation accounts for damage to residential buildings, and considers the full effect of all the seismic aftershock events that lasted for nearly a month. The building damage estimation is based on the European Macroseismic Scale(EMS-98) definitions, which depict the effects of an earthquake on built-up areas in terms of observed intensities. Input data sources are the residential building census provided by Istituto Nazionale di Statistica—the Italian National Institute of Statistics(ISTAT)—and the official market value of real estate assets, obtained from the Osservatorio del Mercato Immobiliare—the Real Estate Market Observatory(OMI). These data make it possible to quantify the economic losses due to earthquakes, an economic indicator updated yearly. The proposed multidisciplinary method takes advantage of seismic,engineering, and economic data sets, and is able to provide a reasonable after the event losses scenario. Data are not gathered for each single building and the intensity values are not a simple hazard indicator, but, notwithstanding its coarseness, this method ensures both robust and reproducible results. As the local property value is availablethroughout the Italian territory, the present loss assessment can be effortlessly repeated for any area, and may be quickly reproduced in case of future events, or used for predictive economic estimations.

BACKGROUND Although the impact of microbial infections on orthopedic clinical outcomes is well recognized,the influence of viral infections on the musculoskeletal system might have been *** To systematically review the available evidence on risk factors and musculoskeletal manifestations following viral infections and to propose a pertinent classification *** We searched MEDLINE,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA),and Scopus for completed studies published before January 30,2021,to evaluate risk factors and bone and joint manifestations of viral infection in animal models and patient *** assessment was performed using SYRCLE's risk of bias tool for animal studies,Moga score for case series,Wylde score for registry studies,and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for case-control *** Six human and four animal studies were eligible for inclusion in the qualitative *** C virus was implicated in several peri-and post-operative complications in patients without cirrhosis after major orthopedic *** virus may affect the integrity of lumbar discs,whereas Ross River and Chikungunya viruses provoke viral arthritis and bone *** Evidence of moderate strength suggested that viruses can cause moderate to severe arthritis and *** factors such as pre-existing rheumatologic disease contributed to higher disease severity and duration of ***,based on our literature search,the proposed clinical and pathogenetic classification scheme is as follows:(1)Viral infections of bone or joint;(2)Active bone and joint inflammatory diseases secondary to viral infections in other organs or tissues;and(3)Viral infection as a risk factor for post-surgical bacterial infection.

设计观念正在迅速改变并朝向更为整体、系统的方法迈进,进程、区域、竞争力以及人的因素皆被纳入设计行为的考量范围,而这些因素则正是现存问题及其可能解决之道的一部分。本文介绍了米兰理工大学DIS-战略设计小组在土地规划项目中运用战略设计能力的研究成果。战略设计能够将人与地以不同的发展观点连结起来并使土地系统从中受益,其中涉及到的地方资源及人类创造力皆被投注于关怀人居环境的挑战性任务之中。此设想得到了实施于元环境的行动研究计划的支持,该环境正代表了所谓的"田园城市领土"(rururban territory),即位于城镇/城市与田园环境之间的市区外围地带。这一原本用作将城市与城镇分离的区域,由于当前的城市膨胀而被划入了广阔的都市化地带,其发生途径也对地区发展有着至关重要的作用。因此,该研究计划便针对这类环境创设了可持续发展的服务设计方案,旨在维持农业功能的同时,创造连贯的、地方性的食品网络。该研究在设计学科和特殊应用领域取得了具有独创性的成果,以社区为中心的设计概念显然成为了土地问题规划中的重要方法。

Unusual Case of Bilateral Breast Cancer: A Pure Encapsulated Papillary Breast Tumor of the Right Breast and a Contralateral Invasive Ductal Carcinoma

Background: Intracystic papillary breast cancer is a very rare tumor that occurs most frequently in elderly postmenopausal women. Aim: In this article we presented a case of a 66-year-old woman who underwent excisional biopsy due to a right breast mass. Case presentation: Histological examination revealed the “pure” encapsulated papillary breast carcinoma without coexisting in situ neoplasm and/or invasive carcinoma. This is a rare lesion of the breast that can clinically mimic breast benign mass with only local or regionally aggressive course. Conclusion: In order to avoid misdiagnosis, both the clinician and the breast radiologist should have the possibility of diagnosing this tumor. Intracystic papillary carcinoma of the breast associated with lymph node?metastasis has rarely been reported, but the sentinel lymph node biopsy may be prudent in such cases, despite the non aggressive behavior.
