Neglectella glomerata ***.,a new species and implications for the systematics of the genus Neglectella(Oocystaceae,trebouxiophyceae,Chlorophyta)

the genus Neglectella Vodenicarov&Benderliev has a morphology similar to the well-known genus Oocystis,except for the numerous chloroplasts stacked in the surface layer of the *** subsequently experienced complex taxonomy changes with members being transferred in and out,and five species are now *** this study,a new alga with morphology corresponding to this genus was collected in China and successfully cultured in *** observations in light microscopy and transmission electronic microscopy(tEM)and phylogenetic analyses revealed that it is a new species,described here as Neglectella glomerata *** differed from other Neglectella species due to a morphological difference in its unique mucilaginous colony with a large number of cells,multiple pyrenoids in each chloroplast,smaller cell size,and more elongated cell *** analyses placed this alga in the subfamily Eremosphaeroideae of the family Oocystaceae and showed its close relationship with Neglectella *** morphological comparisons combined with phylogenetic results revealed three different morphological types in *** new type represented by our new species may represent a transitional morphology in intermediate taxonomic position between the other two *** diversity of morphological types in Neglectella suggests that further unknown species of this genus are likely to be discovered in the *** collections and DNA sequence data will be needed in the future for this genus.

the article both presents how,from the end of the 1980s onwards,native peoples have begun to occupy certain spaces of textual production and circulation that they had not previously occupied in the Brazilian cultural scene(for social,linguistic,and cultural reasons,but also political and juridical)and discusses how this process has provoked a vigorous movement of dilation of traditional textual and discursive borders in Western *** deriving from indigenous peoples in the sphere of academic discourse are,in general,bilingual,and are structured in ways that combine aspects of intellectual production with those of artistic ***,they are also structured around a rather complex conception of the notion of authorship(considering that they are written by an author but represent the voice of their people).As examples,the article analyzes the case of Os cantos tradicionais Ye'kwana[traditional Ye'kwana Chants],by the indigenous teacher and researcher Fernando Ye'kwana Gimenes,winner of the 2020/2021 edition of the Dirce Cortes Riedel Masters Dissertation Award by the Brazilian Association of Comparative Literature,as a typical example of the cultural phenomenon *** traditional Ye'kwana chants present significant transgressions in relation to the traditional notions of narrative logic and the dominant forms of narration in the fields of literature and *** awarding of this academic prize to an indigenous inhabitant of the forest,on the border between Brazil and Venezuela,by the largest association of comparative literature in Latin America,in addition to being an important act in political terms,demonstrates how urgent it is to rethink processes of global literary dissemination beyond the restricted frameworks configured by the logic of hegemonic cultures,which are based on closed divisions and *** this,we intend to contribute to the process of including Amerindian texts in the repertoire of Comparative Literature and World

Malignant pleural mesothelioma(MPM)is a rare and aggressive cancer with low survival probability as it is generally diagnosed at later stages.'Using a combination of immune-checkpoint inhibitors(ICls)ipilimumab(IPl)and nivolumab(NivO)as a first-line treatment for unresectable MPM,the CheckMate 743 trial reported higher overall survival and prolonged duration of response compared with traditional chemotherapy.

Remarkable recent demonstrations of ultra-low-loss inhibited-coupling(1C)hollow-core photonic-crystal fibres(HCPCFs)established them as serious candidates for next-generation long-haul fibre optics systems.A hindrance to this prospect and also to short-haul applications such as micromachining,where stable and high-quality beam delivery is needed,is the difficulty in designing and fabricating an IC-guiding fibre that combines ultra-low loss,truly robust single-modeness,and polarisation-maintaining *** design solutions proposed to date require a trade-off between low loss and truly ***,we propose a novel IC-HCPCF for achieving low-loss and effective single-mode *** fibre is endowed with a hybrid cladding composed of a Kagome-tubular lattice(HKt).this new concept of a microstructured cladding allows us to significantly reduce the confinement loss and,at the same time,preserve truly robust single-mode *** results show an HKt-IC-HCPCF with a minimum loss of 1.6dB/km at 1050 nm and a higher-order mode extinction ratio as high as 47.0 dB for a 10 m long *** robustness of the fibre single-modeness is tested by moving the fibre and varying the coupling *** design proposed herein opens a new route for the development of HCPCFs that combine robust ultra-low-loss transmission and single-mode beam delivery and provides new insight into IC guidance.

Objective: to evaluate the genetic diversity of clinical and environmental isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei(***) recovered in Ceara, Brazil, and screen these isolates for the presence of type three secretion system virulence ***: Nineteen *** isolates(9 from clinical cases and 10 from soils)were *** amplified polymorphic DNA was performed with primers OPQ-2, OPQ-4 and OPQ-16 to evaluate the genetic diversity, and type three secretion system gene was detected through polymerase chain ***: Random amplified polymorphic DNA showed a genetic relatedness of approximately 50% among the tested *** isolates, which were grouped into two clades, of which the biggest ones comprised 18/19 isolates for primer OPQ-2, and 17/19 isolates for primer *** OPQ-4 grouped the isolates into three clades comprising 1/19, 3/19 and 15/19 ***, type three secretion system gene was detected in all tested ***: this is an effort to type *** strains from Ceara, which is important for better understanding this pathogen, contributing for the epidemiological surveillance of melioidosis in this endemic region.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most common cancer worldwide and results from the accumulation of mutations and epimutations in colonic mucosa cells ultimately leading to cell proliferation and ***,CRC prognosis is still poor and the search of novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers is highly desired to prevent CRC-related *** present article aims to summarize the most recent findings concerning the use of either genetic or epigenetic(mainly related to DNA methylation)biomarkers for CRC diagnosis,prognosis,and response to *** large-scale DNA methylation studies suggest that CRC can be divided into several subtypes according to the frequency of DNA methylation and those of mutations in key CRC genes,and that this is reflected by different prognostic *** evidence suggests that the analysis of DNA methylation in blood or fecal specimens could represent a valuable non-invasive diagnostic tool for ***,a broad spectrum of studies indicates that the inter-individual response to chemotherapeutic treatments depends on both epigenetic modifications and genetic mutations occurring in colorectal cancer cells,thereby opening the way for a personalized ***,combining genetic and epigenetic data might represent the most promising tool for a proper diagnostic,prognostic and therapeutic approach.

the present study aims to review the evolution of surgical management of portal(PVt) and splanch-nic venous thrombosis(sVt) in the context of liver transplantation over the last 5 decades. PVt is more commonly managed by endovenous thrombectomy, while sVt requires more complex technical expedients. several surgical techniques have been proposed, such as extensive eversion thrombectomy, anastomosis to collateral veins, reno-portal anastomosis, cavo-portal hemi-transposition, portal arterialization and combined liver-intestinal transplantation. In order to achieve satisfactory outcomes, careful planning of the surgical strategy is mandatory. the excellent results that are ob-tained nowadays confirm that, even extended, splanch-nic thrombosis is no longer an absolute contraindication for liver transplantation. Patients with advanced portal thrombosis may preferentially be referred to specialized centres, in which complex vascular approaches and even multivisceral transplantation are performed.

A quantitative analysis of the Us materials flow methodology and comparison to the EU methodology for MsW statistics

the European Union(EU)and the United states(Us)determine municipal solid waste(MsW)statistics *** EU applies a site-specific methodology that directly measures waste whereas the Us employs a materials flow methodology that estimates MsW statistics indirectly based on production and recovery data from *** study dissects the materials flow methodology and presents quantitative materials flow sankey diagrams for the primary MsW materials to highlight data gaps that can be addressed to improve the methodology’s *** industry plastics data were applied to the materials flow methodology,and the results were within 10%of the plastics statistics reported by the Us Environmental Protection Agency(Us EPA).Drawbacks to the methodologies include EU measurement inaccuracies due to double-counting and not accounting for residual waste in the *** latter may partially explain why landfilling tonnages reported by the Us EPA were approximately 60%less than the tonnages reported by the Waste to Energy Research and technology Council(WtERt)in its national MsW survey that applied the EU methodology in the *** the EU,there is no Us national policy that requires states to measure and report state-level waste data to the Us *** improvements in Us MsW statistics rely heavily on the implementation of national policies to homogenize the measurement and collection of waste data from states.
