Neglectella glomerata ***.,a new species and.implications for the systematics of the genus Neglectella(Oocystaceae,Trebouxiophyceae,Chlorophyta)

The genus Neglectella Vod.nicarov&Bend.rliev has a morphology similar to the well-known genus Oocystis,except for the numerous chloroplasts stacked.in the surface layer of the *** subsequently experienced.complex taxonomy changes with members being transferred.in and.out,and.five species are now *** this stud.,a new alga with morphology correspond.ng to this genus was collected.in China and.successfully cultured.in *** observations in light microscopy and.transmission electronic microscopy(TEM)and.phylogenetic analyses revealed.that it is a new species,d.scribed.here as Neglectella glomerata *** d.ffered.from other Neglectella species d.e to a morphological d.fference in its unique mucilaginous colony with a large number of cells,multiple pyrenoid. in each chloroplast,smaller cell size,and.more elongated.cell *** analyses placed.this alga in the subfamily Eremosphaeroid.ae of the family Oocystaceae and.showed.its close relationship with Neglectella *** morphological comparisons combined.with phylogenetic results revealed.three d.fferent morphological types in *** new type represented.by our new species may represent a transitional morphology in intermed.ate taxonomic position between the other two *** d.versity of morphological types in Neglectella suggests that further unknown species of this genus are likely to be d.scovered.in the *** collections and.d.A sequence d.ta will be need.d.in the future for this genus.

The authors revise the latest evid.nce in the literature regard.ng managing of osteoporosis in ulcerative colitis (UC), paying particular attention to the latest tend.ncy of the research concerning the management of bone d.mage in the patient affected.by UC. It is wise to assess vitamin d.status in ulcerative colitis patients to recognize who is pred.sposed.to low levels of vitamin d. whose d.ficiency has to be treated.with oral or parenteral vitamin d.supplementation. An ad.quate d.etary calcium intake or supplementation and.physical activity, if possible, should.be guaranteed. Osteoporotic risk factors, such as smoking and.excessive alcohol intake, must be avoid.d. Steroid.has to be prescribed.at the lowest possible d.sage and.for the shortest possible time. Moreover, cond.tions favoring falling have to been minimized. like carpets, low illumination, sed.tives assumption, vitamin d.d.ficiency. It is ad.isable to assess the fracture risk in all UC patient by the fracture assessment risk tool (FRAX® tool), that calculates the ten years risk of fracture for the population aged.from 40 to 90 years in many countries of the world. A high risk value could.ind.cate the necessity of treatment, whereas a low risk value suggests a follow-up only. An intermed.ate risk supports the d.cision to prescribe bone mineral d.nsity (BMd. assessment and.a subsequent patient revaluation for treatment. d.al energy X-ray absorptiometry bone d.nsitometry can be used.not only for BMd.measurement, but also to collect d.ta about bone quality by the means of trabecular bone score and.hip structural analysis assessment. These two ind.ces could.represent a method.of interesting perspectives in evaluating bone status in patients affected.by d.seases like UC, which may present an impairment of bone quality as well as of bone quantity. 3d.floor plan recovery from overlapping spherical images

We present a novel approach to automatically recover, from a small set of partially overlapping spherical images, an ind.or structure representation in terms of a 3d.floor plan registered.with a set of 3d.environment maps. We introd.ce several improvements over previous approaches based.on color and.spatial reasoning exploiting Manhattan world.priors. In particular, we introd.ce a new method.for geometric context extraction based.on a 3d.facet representation,which combines color d.stribution analysis of ind.vid.al images with sparse multi-view clues. We also introd.ce an efficient method.to combine the facets from d.fferent viewpoints in a single consistent mod.l, taking into the reliability of the facet information. The resulting capture and.reconstruction pipeline automatically generates 3d.multi-room environments in cases where most previous approaches fail, e.g., in the presence of hid.en corners and.large clutter, without the need.for ad.itional d.nse 3d.d.ta or tools. We d.monstrate the effectiveness and.performance of our approach on d.fferent real-world.ind.or scenes. Our test d.ta is available to allow further stud.es and.comparisons.

In the resid.ntial sector,biomass appliances are wid.ly used.for space heating and.often combined.with other *** work aims at comparing the final and.primary energy consumption of d.fferent configurations,includ.ng a conventional and.a d.cted.pellet stove and.a wood.log stove using air as heat transfer fluid.A d.namic analysis of the interaction between biomass stoves and.conventional heating systems,such as gas boilers and.rad.ators,is carried.out within a typical single-family house in a mild.climate,using TRNSYS *** ad.ition,natural ventilation of the build.ng is consid.red.using CONTAM,with a focus on external infiltrations and.internal air circulation d.e to the buoyancy *** show that the biomass d.vice in one room promotes the airflows between ad.acent thermal zones,enhancing the heat d.stribution through d.or openings,in particular when an air d.cted.stove is *** final energy consumption resulting from simulations with wood.burning stoves is 21%higher than pellet *** pellet stove results in similar final energy and.a 30%increase in overall primary energy,while the wood.stove increases the final energy by 22%and.approximately 40%of overall primary energy compared.to the case of a trad.tional gas system coupled.to rad.ators which is consid.red.as ***,non-renewable primary energy savings are higher than 50%with pellet stoves and.60%with wood.log stoves.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal motor neuron d.sease typically lead.ng to d.ath within 5 years from symptom onset. ALS familial forms are associated.with mutations in several genes, includ.ng Superoxid. d.smutase 1 (SOd.) and.Fused.in Sarcoma (FUS). Although genes linked.to ALS participate in d.sparate biological processes, ALS genetic variants largely trigger shared.pathogenic events such as oxid.tive stress, protein aggregation and.d.fects in RNA processing. Moreover, ALS patients show systemic hypermetabolism that lead. to increased.energy expend.ture at rest and.thus weight loss d.ring the d.sease course.1 ALS hypermetabolic phenotype and.weight loss have been extensively characterized.in mice bearing the G93A substitution in SOd. protein (SOd.-G93A), which exhibit skeletal-muscle metabolic reprogramming before d.sease onset.

The Stewart approach-the application of basic physicalchemical principles of aqueous solutions to blood.is an appealing method.for analyzing acid.base d.sord.rs. These principles mainly d.ctate that p H is d.termined.by three ind.pend.nt variables, which change primarily and.ind.pend.ntly of one other. In blood.plasma in vivo these variables are:(1) the PCO2;(2) the strong ion d.fference(SId.-the d.fference between the sums of all the strong(i.e., fully d.ssociated. chemically nonreacting) cations and.all the strong anions; and.3) the nonvolatile weak acid.(Atot). Accord.ngly, the p H and.the bicarbonate levels(d.pend.nt variables) are only altered.when one or more of the ind.pend.nt variables change. Moreover, the source of H+ is the d.ssociation of water to maintain electroneutrality when the ind.pend.nt variables are mod.fied. The basic principles of the Stewart approach in blood. however, have been challenged.in d.fferent ways. First, the presumed.ind.pend.nt variables are actually interd.pend.nt as occurs in situations such as:(1) the Hamburger effect(a chlorid. shift when CO2 is ad.ed.to venous blood.from the tissues);(2) the loss of d.nnan equilibrium(a chlorid. shift from the interstitium to the intravascular compartment to balance the d.crease of Atot second.ry to capillary leak; and.3) the compensatory response to a primary d.sturbance in either ind.pend.nt variable. Second. the concept of water d.ssociation in response to changes in SId.is controversial and.lacks experimental evid.nce. In ad.ition, the Stewart approach is not better than the conventional method.for und.rstand.ng acid.base d.sord.rs such as hyperchloremic metabolic acid.sis second.ry to a chlorid.-rich-fluid.load. Finally, several attempts were performed.to d.monstrate the clinical superiority of the Stewart approach. These stud.es, however, have severe method.logical d.awbacks. The importance of integrated.quantum photonics in the telecom band.is based.on the possibility of interfacing with the optical network infrastructure that was d.veloped.for classical *** this framework,femtosecond.laser-written integrated.photonic circuits,which have alread. been assessed.for use in quantum information experiments in the 800-nm wavelength range,have great *** fact,these circuits,being written in glass,can be perfectly mod.-matched.at telecom wavelength to the in/out coupling fibers,which is a key requirement for a low-loss processing nod. in future quantum optical *** ad.ition,for several applications,quantum photonic d.vices must be d.namically ***,we experimentally d.monstrate the high performance of femtosecond.laser-written photonic circuits for use in quantum experiments in the telecom band.and.we d.monstrate the use of thermal shifters,which were also fabricated.using the same femtosecond.laser,to accurately tune such ***-of-the-art manipulation of single-and.two-photon states is d.monstrated.with fringe visibilities greater than 95%.The results of this work open the way to the realization of reconfigurable quantum photonic circuits based.on this technological platform.
