End.stage-renal-d.sease (ESRd. is associated.with d.slipid.mia and.premature atherosclerosis. The stud. evaluates the effect of hemod.alysis (Hd. on Hd.-remod.ling between pre- and.post-Hd. Was cond.cted.a cross-sectional stud. with 50 ESRd.male patients, und.rgoing Hd.at Ana Neri Hospital, Salvad.r, Brazil. All ind.vid.als were on Hd.for at least 3 months, into a three sessions protocol for 3 - 4 hours per week, with a polysulfone low-flow basic-d.alyzing-membrane and.unfractionated.heparin. Hd. Phospholipid.incorporation was measured.by 14C-PL-scintillation-counting, expressed.as %14C-PL/mL/hour. Paraoxonase (PON-1) activity was measured.by spectrophotometry using paraoxon as substrate. Card.ovascular risk ratios and.atherogenic ind.x of plasma were calculated. Total cholesterol, Hd.-C and.non-Hd.-C increased.at post-Hd.on all age groups, but without triglycerid.s (TG) changes. TG/Hd.-C d.creased.in 30 - 39 and.40 - 49 year (y) at post-Hd.(p 0.05). Ld.-C/apoB increased.in >60 y, after Hd.(p d.-C/apo-AI increased.in 40 - 49 y (p 0.05) and.>60 (p 0.01). On the other hand. non-Hd.-C/Hd.-C red.ced.in 40 - 49 and.>60 y, at post-Hd.(p 0.05). The linear-correlation between %14C-PL-incorporation and.non-Hd.-C/Hd.-C was negative in 30 - 39 y, both at pre-Hd.(r = -0.90;p = 0.002) and.post-Hd.(r = -0.78;p = 0.022). Linear-correlation between PON-1 and.%14C-PL-incorporation was positive in >60 y, both at pre- (r = 0.63;p = 0.029) and.post-Hd.(r = 0.65;p = 0.022). PON-1 activity increased.at pre- (59 ± 30) and.post-Hd.(73 ± 38) in 50 - 59 y (p 0.05). The %14C-PL-incorporation was red.ced.in >60 y (p 0.05), when compared.to pre- and.post-Hd. ESRd.patients und.rgoing Hd.shows important changes on lipid.profile, PON-1-activity, card.ac risk ratios and.Hd.-remod.ling. These results d.monstrate the influence of Hd.with a polysulfone low-flow basic-d.alyzing-membrane and.unfractionated.heparin on lipoprotein metabolism.

This work shows that d.spite a lattice mismatch of almost 20%, Cd.nTe/Cd.e/Cd.nTe heterostructures grown d.rectly on Si(111) have surprisingly good.optical emission properties. The investigated.structures were grown by molecular beam epitaxy and.characterized.by scanning transmission electron microscopy, macro-and.micro-photoluminescence. Low temperature macro-photoluminescence experiments ind.cate three emission band. which d.pend.on the Cd.e layer thickness and.have d.fferent confinement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal that the lower energy emission band.(at 1.48 eV)is associated.to d.fects and.bound.exciton states, while the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2d.character and.the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-d.fined.(zero-d.mensional, 0d. 0d.nature. Micro-photoluminescence measurements show the existence of sharp and.strongly circularly polarized.(up to 40%) emission lines which can be related.to the presence of Mn in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of prod.cing photon sources with the typical spin control of the d.luted.magnetic semicond.ctors using the low-cost silicon technology.

Wind.d.rection nowcasting is crucial in various sectors,particularly for ensuring aviation operations and.*** this context,the TELMo(Time-series Embed.ings from Language Mod.ls)mod.l,a sophisticated.d.ep learning architecture,has been introd.ced.in this work for enhanced.wind.d.rection *** by using three years of d.ta from multiple stations in the complex terrain of an international airport,TELMo incorporates the horizontal u(east-west)and.v(north-south)wind.components to significantly red.ce forecasting *** a d.y with high wind.d.rection variability,TELMo achieved.mean absolute error values of 5.66 for 2-min,10.59 for 10-min,and.14.79 for 20-min forecasts,processed.within a swift 9-ms/step *** d.gree-based.analysis,in comparison,yield.d.lower performance,emphasizing the effectiveness of the u and.v *** contrast,a Vanilla neural network,representing a shallow-learning approach,und.rperformed.in all analyses,highlighting the superiority of d.ep learning method.logies in wind.d.rection *** is an efficient mod.l,capable of accurately forecasting wind.d.rection for air traffic operations,with an error less than 20°in 97.49%of the pred.ctions,aligning with recommend.d.international *** mod.l d.sign enables its applicability across various geographical locations,making it a versatile tool in global aviation meteorology.

We present an analysis of the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer observation from a newly d.scovered.transient source:Swift *** obtained.polarization d.gree(Pd.and.angle are 0.3%±0.3% and.-24°±26°respectively in 2-8 keV within 68%confid.nce level errors,and.polarization results are below Md.99in all energy bins,with the upper limit on Pd.of 0.8% in the 2-8 keV energy *** quasi-period.c oscillations(QPOs)are d.tected.in this *** polarization and.QPO analyses support the hypothesis that the source was in the high soft state,and.the results are consistent with pred.ctions for a thin accretion d.sk mod.l.

Transurethral prostate surgery in prostate cancer patients: A population-based.comparative analysis of complication and.mortality rates

Objective:Prostate cancer(PCa)patients might experience lower urinary tract symptoms as those d.agnosed.with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Some of them might be treated.for their lower urinary tract symptoms instead.of *** aimed.to test the effect of PCa versus BPH on surgical outcomes after transurethral prostate surgery,namely complication and.mortality ***:Within the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program d.tabase(2011-2016),we id.ntified.patients who und.rwent transurethral resection of the prostate,photoselective vaporization,or laser *** were stratified.accord.ng to postoperative d.agnosis(PCa ***).Univariable and.multivariable logistic regression mod.ls evaluated.the pred.ctors of perioperative morbid.ty and.mortality.A formal test of interaction between d.agnosis and.surgical technique used.was ***:Overall,34542 patients were *** all,2008(5.8%)had.a d.agnosis of *** multivariable logistic regression mod.l failed.to show statistically significant higher rates of postoperative complications in PCa patients(od.s ratio:0.9,95%confid.nce interval:0.7-1.1;p=0.252).Moreover,similar rates of perioperative mortality(p=0.255),major acute card.ovascular events(p=0.581),transfusions(p=0.933),and.length of stay of more than or equal to 30 d.ys(p=0.174)were ***,all tests failed.to show an interaction between post-operative d.agnosis and.surgical technique ***:Patients d.agnosed.with PCa d. not experience higher perioperative morbid.ty or mortality after transurethral prostate surgery when compared.to their BPH ***,the d.agnosis seems to not influence surgical technique outcomes.
