NeuroBiometric:An Eye Blink Based Biometric Authentication System Using an Event-Based Neuromorphic Vision Sensor

The rise of the Internet and identity authentication systems has brought convenience to people's lives but has also introduced the potential risk of privacy *** biometric authentication systems based on explicit and static features bear the risk of being attacked by mimicked *** work proposes a highly efficient biometric authentication system based on transient eye blink signals that are precisely captured by a neuromorphic vision sensor with microsecond-level temporal *** neuromorphic vision sensor only transmits the local pixel-level changes induced by the eye blinks when they occur,which leads to advantageous characteristics such as an ultra-low latency *** first propose a set of effective biometric features describing the motion,speed,energy and frequency signal of eye blinks based on the microsecond temporal resolution of event *** then train the ensemble model and non-ensemble model with our Neuro Biometric dataset for biometrics *** experiments show that our system is able to identify and verify the subjects with the ensemble model at an accuracy of 0.948 and with the non-ensemble model at an accuracy of *** low false positive rates(about 0.002)and the highly dynamic features are not only hard to reproduce but also avoid recording visible characteristics of a user's *** proposed system sheds light on a new path towards safer authentication using neuromorphic vision sensors.

Brain networks modeling for studying the mechanism underlying the development of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a primary age-related neurodegenerative disorder that can result in impaired cognitive and memory *** connections between changes in brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients have been established,the mechanisms that drive these alterations remain incompletely *** study,which was conducted in 2018 at Northeastern University in China,included data from 97 participants of the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI)dataset covering genetics,imaging,and clinical *** participants were divided into two groups:normal control(n=52;20 males and 32 females;mean age 73.90±4.72 years)and Alzheimer’s disease(n=45,23 males and 22 females;mean age 74.85±5.66).To uncover the wiring mechanisms that shaped changes in the topology of human brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients,we proposed a local naive Bayes brain network model based on graph *** results showed that the proposed model provided an excellent fit to observe networks in all properties examined,including clustering coefficient,modularity,characteristic path length,network efficiency,betweenness,and degree distribution compared with empirical *** proposed model simulated the wiring changes in human brain networks between controls and Alzheimer’s disease *** results demonstrate its utility in understanding relationships between brain tissue structure and cognitive or behavioral *** ADNI was performed in accordance with the Good Clinical Practice guidelines,US 21 CFR Part 50-Protection of Human Subjects,and Part 56-Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Good Clinical Practice guidelines Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Ethics Boards(REBs).

Period-doubling bifurcation in two-stage power factor correction converters using the method of incremental harmonic balance and Floquet theory

In this paper, period-doubling bifurcation in a two-stage power factor correction converter is analyzed by using the method of incremental harmonic balance （IHB） and Floquet theory. A two-stage power factor correction converter typically employs a cascade configuration of a pre-regulator boost power factor correction converter with average current mode control to achieve a near unity power factor and a tightly regulated post-regulator DC-DC Buck converter with voltage feedback control to regulate the output voltage. Based on the assumption that the tightly regulated postregulator DC-DC Buck converter is represented as a constant power sink and some other assumptions, the simplified model of the two-stage power factor correction converter is derived and its approximate periodic solution is calculated by the method of IHB. And then, the stability of the system is investigated by using Floquet theory and the stable boundaries are presented on the selected parameter spaces. Finally, some experimental results are given to confirm the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.

中国西南地区是世界上喀斯特出露面积最大的区域,也是长江和珠江上游重要的生态安全屏障区。区别于非喀斯特关键带,由溶蚀性孔隙网络结构交织而成的表层岩溶带是喀斯特关键带的核心区,水则是参与和联系关键带内部物质循环、能量流动过程最活跃的因子。本文从关键带结构刻画、土壤-表层岩溶带系统水文过程以及模型模拟3方面回顾和总结了西南喀斯特地区开展的相关研究以及存在的问题,并对潜在的研究热点进行了展望。多尺度、多方法综合观测以及多学科交叉是开展系列研究的主要途径,精准刻画植被-土壤-表层岩溶带耦合系统的生态水文过程是未来研究的主要趋势和重点。本文旨在为深化喀斯特关键带水文过程研究和区域水文水资源管理提供科学参考。

Inter-Cell Interference Cancellation Algorithm for Reverse Link TDD-CDMA Systems

This paper proposes a new inter-cell interference cancellation algorithm called subspace projection in order to eliminate the stronger inter-cell interference. This algorithm is designed for the reverse link of time division duplex-code division multiple access systems. The algorithm works by projecting desired users＇ signal vector onto the subspace orthogonal to the subspace that inferrers the users＇ signal. Link-level simulation results show that the scheme eliminates the inter-cell interference efficiently, improves the receiver performance, and increases the system capacity.

Timing and secular trend of pubertal development in Beijing girls

Epidemics of overweight and obesity among growing childhood in China between 1997 and 2009： Impact of family Income, Dietary Intake, and Physical Activity Dynamics

Background： Obesity has become a major health problem among children and adolescents worldwide. This study aimed to examine the trends of overweight and obesity among childhood in China and assess their associations with family income, dietary intake, and physical activity （PA） between 1997 and 2009. Methods： Two waves of cross-sectional data of Chinese children and adolescents aged 7-17 years from the China Health and Nutrition Survey were used. Weight and height were measured following standardized procedures. Dietary intake was assessed by 3 consecutive 24-h recalls. Childhood overweight and obesity were defined using the International Obesity Task Force-recommended body mass index cut-offs. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to examine the associations of family income with diet intakes and PA. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to assess the associations of overweight and obesity with family income, dietary intake, and PA. Results： The prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity increased from 12.6% in 1997 to 22.1% in 2009, particularly in the medium- and high-family income groups, which increased by 102.7% and 90.3%, respectively. Higher fat intake （% energy）, and moderate and vigorous PA were significantly associated with overweight and obesity in final model （odds ratio [OR] = 1.01, 95% confidence interval [CI]： 1.00-1.02, P = 0.004; and OR = 0.99, 95% CI： 0.98-1.00, P = 0.036, respectively）. Conclusions： The prevalence of overweight and obesity among Chinese children and adolescents has increased between 1997 and 2009. Reducing fat intake and increasing PA may help obesity prevention.
