Improvement of Film Cooling Design for Turbine Vane Leading Edge Considering Combustor Outflow

As the interaction between the combustor and the turbine in the aero-engine continues to increase,the film cooling design considering the combustor swirling outflow has become the research *** swirling inflow and high-temperature gas first affect the vane leading edge(LE).However,no practical improved solution for the LE cooling design has been proposed considering the combustor swirling *** this paper,the improved scheme of showerhead cooling is carried out around the two ways of adopting the laid-back-fan-shaped hole and reducing the coolant outflow *** film cooling effectiveness(η) and the coolant flow state are obtained by PSP(pressure-sensitive-paint) and numerical simulation methods,*** research results show that the swirling inflow increases the film distribution inhomogeneity by imposing the radial pressure gradient on the vane to make the film excessively gather in some *** showerhead film cooling adopts the laid-back-fan-shaped hole to reduce the momentum when the coolant flows *** this cooling scheme improves the film attachment and increases the surface-averaged film cooling effectiveness(η_(sur)) by as much as15.4%,the film distribution inhomogeneity *** reducing the coolant outlet angle,the wall-tangential velocity of the coolant increases,and the wall-normal velocity *** the swirl intake condition,both ηand the film distribution uniformity are significantly increased,and the growth of η_(sur) is up to 16.5%.This paper investigates two improved schemes to improve the showerhead cooling under the swirl intake condition to provide a reference for the vane cooling design.

Energy flexibility and resilience analysis of demand-side energy efficiency measures within existing residential houses during cold wave event

Using the behind-meter data,this study applied a comparison and optimization-based framework to evaluate the energy flexibility and resilience of distributed energy resources within existing houses during cold wave *** analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of high envelope insulation level in improving energy resilience,identifies impacts of distributed energy resources on variations of household electricity ***,a 14.6%reduction in the median value of the normalized load of building group with low U-values,implementations of cogeneration system effectively suppressed variations of electricity *** energy performances of on-site generators are evaluated based on high resolution data,energy flexibility of domestic hot water and thermostatically controlled loads were investigated through built demand response *** reveal that electrifying hot water demand offers additional power flexibility,the integration of fuel cell cogeneration system has proven to be an efficient energy resource,enabling on-site generation of both electricity and hot water,substantially reducing grid *** extreme cold event resulted in significant spikes in space heating power *** optimization results demonstrate that reducing the indoor setpoint temperature effectively decreases daily power consumption by approximately 5.0%per degree *** findings help acquire better understanding of interconnections between energy efficiency and resilience of residential energy-efficient measures.

Prognostic impact of metastatic lymph node ratio in advanced gastric cancer from cardia and fundus

AIM: To investigate the prognostic impact of the metastatic lymph node ratio (MLR) in advanced gastric cancer from the cardia and fundus. METHODS: Two hundred and thirty-six patients with gastric cancer from the cardia and fundus who underwent D2 curative resection were analyzed ret- rospectively. The correlations between MLR and the total lymph nodes, positive nodes and the total lymph nodes were analyzed respectively. The influence of MLR on the survival time of patients was determined with univariate Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and mul- tivariate Cox proportional hazard model analysis. And the multiple linear regression was used to identify the relation between MLR and the 5-year survival rate of the patients. RESULTS: The MLR did not correlate with the total lymph nodes resected (r = -0.093, P = 0.057). The 5-year overall survival rate of the whole cohort was 37.5%. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis identified that the following eight factors influenced the survival time of the patients postoperatively: gender (χ2 = 4.26, P = 0.0389), tumor size (χ2 = 18.48, P linear correlation between MLR and the 5-year survival was statistically significant based on the multiple lin- ear regression (β = -0.63, P fundus. The decrease of MLR due to adequate number of total resected lymph nodes can improve the survival.

Effect of Ti and Ta content on the oxidation resistance of Co-Ni-based superalloys

Co-Ni-based superalloys are known for their capability to function at elevated temperatures and superior hot corrosion and thermal fatigue ***,these alloys show potential as crucial high-temperature structural materials for aeroengine and gas turbine hot-end *** previous work elucidated the influence of Ti and Ta on the high-temperature mechanical properties of ***,the intricate interaction among elements considerably affects the oxidation resistance of *** this paper,Co-35Ni-10Al-2W-5Cr-2Mo-1Nb-xTi-(5−x)Ta alloys(x=1,2,3,4)with varying Ti and Ta contents were designed and compounded,and their oxidation resistance was investigated at the temperature range from 800 to 1000℃.After oxidation at three test conditions,namely,800℃for 200 h,900℃for 200 h,and 1000℃for 50 h,the main structure of the oxide layer of the alloy consisted of spinel,Cr_(2)O_(3),and Al_(2)O_(3)from outside to *** consisting of Ta,W,and Mo formed below the Cr_(2)O_(3)*** interaction of Ti and Ta imparted the highest oxidation resistance to 3Ti2Ta ***,an excessive amount of Ti or Ta resulted in an adverse effect on the oxidation resistance of the *** study reports the volatilization of W and Mo oxides during the oxidation process of Co-Ni-based cast superalloys with a high Al content for the first time and explains the formation mechanism of holes in the oxide *** results provide a basis for gaining insights into the effects of the interaction of alloying elements on the oxidation resistance of the alloys they form.

Morphogenesis and Molecular Phylogeny of a Marine Urostylid Ciliate Apokeronopsis wrighti(Protista, Ciliophora, Hypotrichia)

Hypotrichs are one of the highly differentiated ciliated lineages which play important roles in ecological, environmental,evolutionary and basic biological studies. In the present study, we investigated the living characteristics, infraciliature, nuclear apparatus, ontogenesis and phylogenetic position of a marine hypotrichous ciliate, Apokeronopsis wrighti Long et al., 2008, which was isolated from coastal waters in Shenzhen, China. The new isolate resembles the type population in terms of morphological characteristics, morphometrics, and SSU rRNA gene sequence that is with a 99.7% similarity. Ontogenesis of A. wrighti is characterized by oral primordium for the proter as well as marginal and dorsal kineties anlagen in both filial products formed de novo, and the cirral row arranged along the paroral and endoral arises from several anterior frontoventral-transverse cirral streaks. Phylogenetic analyses based on SSU and concatenated gene data suggest that five species of Apokeronopsis form a monophyletic clade, and the genus Apokeronopsis is closely related to Thigmokeronopsis and Metaurostylopsis.

Design of low-alloying and high-performance solid solution-strengthened copper alloys with element substitution for sustainable development

Solid solution-strengthened copper alloys have the advantages of a simple composition and manufacturing process,high mechanical and electrical comprehensive performances,and low cost;thus,they are widely used in high-speed rail contact wires,electronic component connectors,and other *** the contradiction between low alloying and high performance is an important challenge in the development of solid solution-strengthened copper *** the typical solid solution-strengthened alloy Cu-4Zn-1Sn as the research object,we proposed using the element In to replace Zn and Sn to achieve low alloying in this *** new alloys,Cu-1.5Zn-1Sn-0.4In and Cu-1.5Zn-0.9Sn-0.6In,were designed and *** total weight percentage content of alloying elements decreased by 43%and 41%,respectively,while the product of ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and electrical conductivity(EC)of the annealed state increased by 14%and 15%.After cold rolling with a 90%reduction,the UTS of the two new alloys reached 576 and 627MPa,respectively,the EC was 44.9%IACS and 42.0%IACS,and the product of UTS and EC(UTS×EC)was 97%and 99%higher than that of the annealed state *** dislocations proliferated greatly in cold-rolled alloys,and the strengthening effects of dislocations reached 332 and 356 MPa,respectively,which is the main reason for the considerable improvement in mechanical properties.

Spherical Confinement Generates Entropic Force to Accelerate Polymer Chain Detachment

To understand the dynamic process of polymer detachment, it is necessary to determine the mean detachment time of a single breakable link, which is modeled as a spring. Normally, this time can be viewed as the escape of a Brownian particle from the potential well of the spring. However, as the free dangling length of the polymer chain increases, the conformational entropy of the chain is affected by geometric confinement. It means that the wall exerts a repulsive force on the chain, resulting in accelerated link detachment from a macroscopic perspective. In this work, we investigate the effect of entropy on the detachment rate in the case where the substrate is spherical. We demonstrate that spherical confinement accelerates chain detachment both inside and outside the sphere. An analytical expression for the mean detachment time of breakable links is given, which includes an additional pre-factor that is related to the partition function. Additionally, we analyze the expressions for entropic forces inside the sphere, outside the sphere, and on a flat wall, comparing their magnitudes to explain the difference in mean detachment time.

Tensile strength behavior of cement-stabilized dredged sediment reinforced by polypropylene fiber

This study evaluated the feasibility of using polypropylene fiber(PF)as reinforcement in improving tensile strength behavior of cement-stabilized dredged sediment(CDS).The effects of cement content,water content,PF content and length on the tensile strength and stress–strain behavioral evolutions were evaluated by conducting splitting tensile strength ***,the micro-mechanisms characterizing the tensile strength behavior inside PF-reinforced CDS(CPFDS)were clarified via analyzing macro failure and microstructure *** results indicate that the highest tensile strengths of 7,28,60,and 90 d CPFDS were reached at PF contents of 0.6%,1.0%,1.0%,and 1.0%,exhibiting values 5.96%,65.16%,34.10%,and 35.83%higher than those of CDS,***,3 mm,PF of showed the best reinforcement *** CPFDS exhibited obvious tensile strain-hardening characteristic,and also had better ductility than *** mix factor(C_(C)^(a)/C_(w)^(b))and time parameter(q_(t0)(t))of CDS,and the reinforcement index(k_(t-PF))of CPFDS were used to establish the tensile strength prediction models of CDS and CPFDS,considering multiple *** PF“bridge effect”and associated cementation-reinforcement coupling actions inside CPFDS were mainly responsible for tensile strength behavior *** key findings contribute to the use of CPFDS as recycled engineering soils.

Synthetic vascular grafts suitable for small-diameter arteries(linical practice due to thrombosis and stenosis after in vivo *** designing SDVGs,many studies emphasized reendothelization but ignored the importance of reconstruction of the smooth muscle layer(SML).To facilitate rapid SML regeneration,a high-resolution 3D printing method was used to create a novel bilayer SDVG with structures and mechanical properties mimicking natural *** by the collagen alignment of SML,the inner layer of the grafts had larger pore sizes and high porosity to accelerate the infiltration of cells and their circumferential alignment,which could facilitate SML reconstruction for compliance restoration and spontaneous *** outer layer was designed to induce fibroblast recruitment by low porosity and minor pore size and provide SDVG with sufficient mechanical *** month after implantation,the arteries regenerated by 3D-printed grafts exhibited better pulsatility than electrospun grafts,with a compliance(8.9%) approaching that of natural arteries(11.36%) and significantly higher than that of electrospun ones(1.9%).The 3D-printed vascular demonstrated a three-layer structure more closely resembling natural arteries while electrospun grafts showed incomplete endothelium and immature *** study shows the importance of SML reconstruction during vascular graft regeneration and provides an effective strategy to reconstruct blood vessels through 3D-printed structures rapidly.
