The aim of the present study is to analyze the global research trend of radiation-responsive genes and identify the highly reproducible radiation-responsive genes. Bibliometric methods were applied to analyze the global research trend of radiation-responsive genes. We found 79 publications on radiation-responsive genes from 2000 to 2017. A total of 35 highly reproducible radiation-responsive genes were identified. Most genes are involved in response to DNA damage, cell proliferation, cell cycle regulation, and DNA *** p53 signal pathway was the top enriched pathway. The expression levels of 18 genes in human B lymphoblastoid cell line（AHH-1） cells were significantly up-regulated in a dose-dependent manner at 24 h after exposure to 0-5 Gy ^60 Coγ-ray irradiation. Our results indicate that developing a gene expression panel with the 35 high reproducibility radiation-responsive genes may be necessary for qualitative and quantitative assessment after exposure.

Identification of Two Novel Mitochondrial DNA Deletions Induced by Ionizing Radiation

Abstract Objective We identify ionizing radiation-induced mitochondrial DNA （mtDNA） deletions in human lymphocytes and their distribution in normal populations. Methods Long-range polymerase chain reactions （PCR） using two pairs of primers specific for the human mitochondrial genome were used to analyze the lymphoblastoid cell line following exposure to 10 Gy 6~Co y-rays. Limited-condition PCR, cloning and sequencing techniques were applied to verify the mtDNA deletions detected with long-range PCR. Human peripheral blood samples were irradiated with 0, 2 and 6 Gy ^60Co y-rays, and real-time PCR analysis was performed to validate the mtDNA deletions. In order to know the distribution of mtDNA deletions in normal population, 222 healthy Chinese adults were also investigated. Results Two mtDNA deletions, a 7455-bp deletion （nt475-nt7929 in heavy strand） and a 9225-bp deletion （nt7714 -nt369 in heavy strand）, occurring between two 8-bp direct repeats, were identified in lymphoblastoid cells using long-range PCR, limited-condition PCR and sequencing. These results were also observed for ^60Co y-rays irradiated human peripheral blood cells. Conclusion Two novel mtDNA deletions, a 7455-bp deletion and a 9225-bp deletion, were induced by ionizing radiation. The rate of the mtDNA deletions within a normal population was related to the donors＇ age, but was independent of gender.

Si-containing Mg alloys solidified at conventional rates often contain coarse and sharp Mg2Si phases,which can result in inferior material *** this study,Mg-6wt.%Si （Mg-6Si） alloy was prepared by wire arc additive manufacturing （WAAM）,employing the gas tungsten arc welding technique with rapid *** microstructures and mechanical properties of the WAAM alloy were investigated and compared with those of the as-cast samples produced using a metal *** results indicate that the WAAM Mg-6Si is harder and stronger than the as-cast *** microhardness of the WAAM Mg-6Si increases by 36.6%in comparison to that of as-cast Mg-6Si ***,the average tensile strengths at room temperature and 150°C increases by 63.4%and 21.3%,*** refines both the Mg2Si phase and the overall grains,resulting in a homogeneous morphology and improved mechanical *** granular Mg2Si phase,characterized by fine particles with a diffused distribution,shows a significant increase in *** acicular Mg2Si phase is distributed along the grain boundaries,and its concentration significantly *** average grain size of the Mg2Si phase is about 9.20μm,about 5 times *** refinement and distribution of the granular Mg2Si phase,as well as the reduction in the amount of needle-like Mg2Si particles,are the key factors for improving the mechanical properties of WAAM Mg-6Si alloy.

Sexual reproduction first appeared in unicellular protists and has continued to be an essential biological process in almost all *** protists, which contain both germline and somatic genomes within a single cell, have evolved a special form of sexual reproduction called conjugation that involves mitosis, meiosis, fertilization, nuclear differentiation, genome rearrangement, and the development of unique cellular structures. The molecular basis and mechanisms of conjugation vary dramatically among ciliates, and many details of the process and its regulation are still largely unknown. In order to better comprehend these processes and mechanisms from an evolutionary perspective, this study provides the first comprehensive overview of the transcriptome and proteome profiles during the entire life cycle of the newly-established marine model ciliate Euplotes vannus. Transcriptome analyses from 14 life cycle stages(three vegetative stages and 11 sexual stages) revealed over 26,000 genes that are specifically expressed at different stages, many of which are related to DNA replication,transcription, translation, mitosis, meiosis, nuclear differentiation, and/or genome rearrangement. Quantitative proteomic analyses identified 338 proteins with homologs associated with conjugation and/or somatic nuclear development in other ciliates, including dicer-like proteins, Hsp90 proteins, RNA polymerase Ⅱ and transcription elongation factors, ribosomal-associated proteins, and ubiquitin-related proteins. Four of these homologs belong to the PIWI family, each with different expression patterns identified and confirmed by RT-qPCR,which may function in small RNA-mediated genome rearrangement. Proteins involved in the nonhomologous end-joining pathway are induced early during meiosis and accumulate in the developing new somatic nucleus, where more than 80% of the germline sequences are eliminated from the somatic genome. Structural reconstruction of electrocatalysts plays a pivotal role in catalytic performances for CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR),whereas the behavior is by far superficially ***,we report that CO_(2)accessibility results in a universal self-adaptive structural reconstruction from Cu_(2)O to Cu@CuxO composites,ending with feeding gas-dependent microstructures and catalytic *** CO_(2)-rich atmosphere favors reconstruction for CO_(2)RR,whereas the CO_(2)-deficient one prefers that for hydrogen evolution *** the assistance of spectroscopic analysis and theoretical calculations,we uncover a CO_(2)-induced passivation behavior by identifying a reductionresistant but catalytic active Cu(I)-rich amorphous layer stabilized by*CO ***,we find extra CO production is indispensable for the robust production of *** inverse correlation between durability and FECO/FEC2H4 is disclosed,suggesting that the selfstabilization process involving the absorption of*CO intermediates on Cu(I)sites is essential for durable *** by this insight,we design hollow Cu_(2)O nanospheres for durable and selective CO_(2)RR electrolysis in producing *** work recognizes the previously overlooked passivation reconstruction and self-stabilizing behavior and highlights the critical role of the local atmosphere in modulating reconstruction and catalytic processes.
