Yield and Quality Response of Cucumber to Irrigation and Nitrogen Fertilization Under Subsurface Drip Irrigation in Solar Greenhouse

The aims of this research were to compare subsurface drip irrigation scheduling and nitrogen fertilization rates in cucumber, and evaluate yield and quality of cucumber fruit, water （WUE）, irrigation water （IWUE）, and nitrogen use （NUE） efficiencies in the solar greenhouse in Southwest China. The irrigation water amounts were determined based on the 20 cm diameter pan （Ep） placed over the crop canopy, and cucumber plant was subjected to three irrigation water levels （I1, 0.6 Ep; I2, 0.8 Ep; and I3, 1.0 Ep） in interaction with three nitrogen fertilization levels （N1, 300 kg ha-1; N2, 450 kg ha-1; and N3, 600 kg ha-1）. The results showed that the cucumber fruit yield increased with the improvement of irrigation water. Irrigation water increased yields by increasing the mean weight of the fruits, and also by increasing fruit number. But the highest values of IWUE and WUE were obtained from I2 treatment. NUE significantly decreased with the improvement of N application, but increased by irrigating more water. The quality of cucumber fruit decreased with the improvement irrigation water and nitrogen fertilization. In conclusion, the optimum irrigation level and nitrogen fertilizer application level for cucunber under subsurface drip irrigation in the solar greenhouse in Southwest China were 0.8 Ep and 450 and 600 kg ha-1, respectively.

Calcium carbonate crystals with various morphologies have been found in a variety of biospecimens and artificially synthesized structures. Usually, the diversity in morphology can be attributed to different types of interactions between the specific crystal faces and the environment or the templates used for the growth of CaCO3 crystals. On the other hand, isotropic amorphous calcium carbonate （ACC） has been recognized as the precursor of other crystalline calcium carbonate forms for both in vivo and in vitro systems. However, here we propose a self-confined amorphous template process leading to the anisotropic growth of single-crystalline calcite nanowires. Initiated by the assembly of precipitated nanoparticles, the calcite nanowires grew via the continuous precipitation of partly crystallized ACC nanodroplets onto their tips. Then, the crystalline domains in the tip, which were generated from the partly crystallized nanodroplets, coalesced in the interior of the nanowire to form a single-crystalline core. The ACC domains were left outside and spontaneously formed a protective shell to retard the precipitation of CaCO3 onto the side surface of the nanowire and thus guided the highly anisotropic growth of nanowires as a template.

Sucrose non-fermenting-l-related protein kinase 1 （SnRK1） has been located at the heart of the control of metabolism and development in plants. The active SnRK1 form is usually a heterotrimeric complex. Subcellular localization and specific target of the SnRK1 kinase are regulated by specific beta subunits. In Arabidopsis, there are at least seven genes encoding beta subunits, of which the regulatory functions are not yet clear. Here, we tried to study the function of one beta subunit, AKINβ1. It showed that AKINβ1 expression was dramatically induced by ammonia nitrate but not potassium nitrate, and the investigation of AKINβ1 transgenic Arabidopsis and T-DNA insertion lines showed that AKINβ1 negatively regulated the activity of nitrate ruductase and was positively involved in sugar repression in early seedling development. Meanwhile AKIN/β1 expression was reduced upon sugar treatment （including mannitol） and did not affect the activity of sucrose phosphate synthase. The results indicate that AKIN/β1 is involved in the regulation of nitrogen metabolism and sugar signaling.

Innate immunity represents one of the main host responses to viral infection.1,2,3 STING(Stimulator of interferon genes),a crucial immune adapter functioning in host cells,mediates cGAS(Cyclic GMP-AMP Synthase)sensing of exogenous and endogenous DNA fragments and generates innate immune responses.4 Whether STING activation was involved in infection and replication of enterovirus remains largely *** the present study,we discovered that human enterovirus A71(EV-A71)infection triggered STING activation in a cGAS dependent ***-A71 infection caused mitochondrial damage and the discharge of mitochondrial DNA into the cytosol of infected ***,during EV-A71 infection,cGAS-STING activation was ***-A71 ^(pro)teins were screened and the viral ^(pro)tease 2A^(pro) had the greatest capacity to inhibit cGAS-STING *** identified TRAF3 as an important factor during STING activation and as a target of 2A^(pro).Supplement of TRAF3 rescued cGAS-STING activation suppression by 2A^(pro).TRAF3 supported STING activation mediated TBK1 ***,we found that 2A^(pro) ^(pro)tease activity was essential for inhibiting STING ***,EV-D68 and CV-A16 infection also triggered STING *** viral ^(pro)tease 2A^(pro) from EV-D68 and CV-A16 also had the ability to inhibit STING *** STING activation prior to EV-A71 infection generated cellular resistance to EV-A71 replication,blocking EV-A71-mediated STING suppression represents a new anti-viral target.

Dear Editor,Neurologic manifestations associated with many COVID-19 patients,including acute infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)and long COVID,have been proven by increasing evidence.1 To date,most studies have focused on how SARS-CoV-2 invades the nervous system and the consequent neuropathological changes.2,3 In contrast,the specific mechanism by which SARS-CoV-2 infection leads to neurological disease remains unclear.

A novel fiber Bragg grating （FBG） sensor array system based on digital phase generated carrier （PGC） demodulation and reference compensation method is proposed and set up. Experimental results confirm that the digital PGC demodulation can be used for wavelength-division-multiplexed FBG sensor array and the reference compensation method can reduce the environmental interference by approximately 40 dB in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 2 kHz. The minimum detectable wavelength-shift of the sensor system is 1 × 10^-3 pm/Hz^1/2.

AIM: To study the virological and host factors influencing hepatitis C infection outcomes in heroin users in southern China. METHODS: HCV RNA and associated factors were analyzed among 347 heroin users from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China who were hepatitis C virus (HCV) EIA positive for two or more consecutive visits. RESULTS: Using the COBAS AMPLICOR HCV TEST, a remarkably low HCV RNA negative rate of 8.6% was detected. After multivariate logistic regression analysis, HCV RNA clearance was significantly associated with the presence of HBsAg (OR = 8.436, P < 0.0001), the lack of HIV-1 infection (OR = 0.256, P = 0.038) and age younger than 25 (OR = 0.400, P = 0.029). CONCLUSION: Our study suggests HCV infection among Chinese heroin users results in high levels of viral persistence even amidst factors previously found to enhance viral clearance. Prospective studies of a possible genetic component within the Chinese population and the pathogenicity of non-genotype 1 HCV infections are needed.

采用"碱-酸-碱"合成工艺,在各阶段将OMMT(有机蒙脱土)投入反应体系,制备有机蒙脱土改性脲醛树脂胶黏剂,测试胶黏剂的各项性能,用XRD(X射线衍射仪)、FTIR(傅里叶变换红外光谱)、SEM(扫描电镜)、TG(热重分析)对改性胶黏剂结构进行表征.实验结果表明,随着OMMT的加入,胶黏剂的游离甲醛含量降低,胶合强度增加.第一阶段投入OMMT,降醛效果明显,第二阶段投入OMMT,补强效果明显.SEM图显示,改性胶黏剂中被剥离成片层状的OMMT因受基体的包覆或挤压,呈现出蜷曲的形状;XRD图谱显示,OMMT/UF胶黏剂的结晶度低于UF胶黏剂的结晶度,有机蒙脱土的加入,破坏了脲醛树脂中羰基和氨基的规整性排列;FTIR图谱表明,改性脲醛树脂胶黏剂中存在大量游离的尿素,胶黏剂的游离甲醛含量低;TG分析得出,改性胶黏剂的TG曲线移向高温方向,材料的热分解温度提高.
