Boosting the oxygen evolution reaction through migrating active sites from the bulk to surface of perovskite oxides

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) dominates the efficiency of electrocatalytic water splitting owing to its sluggish kinetics.Perovskite oxides (ABO_(3)) have emerged as promising candidates to accelerate the OER process owing to their high intrinsic activities and tailorable properties.Fe ions in perovskite oxides have been proved to be a highly catalytic element for OER,while some Fe-based perovskites such as SrTi_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(STF) and La_(0.66)Ti_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(LTF) exhibit inferior OER activity.Yet the essential reason is still unclear and the effective method to promote the activity of such perovskite is also lacking.Herein,an in-situ exsolution strategy was proposed to boost the OER by migrating Fe from the bulk to the surface.Significantly enhanced OER activity was achieved on STF and LTF perovskites with surfacedecorated oxygen vacancies and Fe nanoparticles.In addition,theoretical calculation confirmed that the oxygen vacancies and Fe nanoparticle on surface could lower the overpotential of OER by facilitating the adsorption of OH^(-).From this study,migration of the active elements in perovskite is found to be an effective strategy to increase the quantity and activity of active sites,providing new insights and understanding for designing efficient OER catalysts.

Decarbonization of the power sector in China is an essential aspect of the energy transition process to achieve carbon neutrality.The power sector accounts for approximately 40%of China’s total CO_(2) emissions.Accordingly,collaborative optimization in power generation expansion planning(GEP)simultaneously considering economic,environmental,and technological concerns as carbon emissions is necessary.This paper proposes a collaborative mixedinteger linear programming optimization approach for GEP.This minimizes the power system’s operating cost to resolve emission concerns considering energy development strategies,flexible generation,and resource limitations constraints.This research further analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of current GEP techniques.Results show that the main determinants of new investment decisions are carbon emissions,reserve margins,resource availability,fuel consumption,and fuel price.The proposed optimization method is simulated and validated based on China’s power system data.Finally,this study provides policy recommendations on the flexible management of traditional power sources,the market-oriented mechanism of new energy sources,and the integration of new technology to support the attainment of carbon-neutral targets in the current energy transition process.

According to the capillary theory,an equivalent capillary model of micro-resistivity imaging logging was built.On this basis,the theoretical models of porosity spectrum(Ф_(i)),permeability spectrum(K_(i))and equivalent capillary pressure curve(pe)were established to reflect the reservoir heterogeneity.To promote the application of the theoretical models,the Archie's equation was introduced to establish a general model for quantitatively characterizing bi,K,and pei.Compared with the existing models,it is shown that:(1)the existing porosity spectrum model is the same as the general equation of gi;(2)the Ki model can display the permeability spectrum as compared with Purcell's permeability model;(3)the per model is constructed on a theoretical basis and avoids the limitations of existing models that are built only based on the component of porosity spectrum,as compared with the empirical model of capillary pressure curve.The application in the Permian Maokou Formation of Well TsX in the Central Sichuan paleo-uplift shows that the Ф_(i),K_(i),and p_(ci) models can be effectively applied to the identification of reservoir types,calculation of reservoir properties and pore structure parameters,and evaluation of reservoir heterogeneity.

BACKGROUND Hepatic artery occlusion(HAO)after liver transplantation(LT)is a devastating complication,resulting in early graft loss and reduced overall survival.Ultra-sound is an established assessment method for HAO in patients following LT,especially those with complex hepatic artery reconstruction.METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the ultrasound characteristics and the clinic risk factors associated with HAO in 400 adult LT patients who were enrolled and treated at the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen between November 2016 and July 2022.Fourteen patients diagnosed with acute HAO(A-HAO)by surgery and fifteen diagnosed with chronic HAO(C-HAO)were included.A control group of 33 patients without HAO complications during the same period were randomly selected using a random number table.All patients underwent an ultrasono-graphy examination.Parameters including resistance index(RI),peak systolic velocity(PSV),and portal vein velocity(PVV)were compared across the groups.Additionally,basic clinical data were collected for all patients,including gender,age,primary diagnosis,D-dimer concentration,total operation time,cold ischemia time,hot ischemia time,intraoperative blood loss and transfusion,intraoperative urine volume,infusion,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score,and whether complex hepatic artery reconstructions were performed.Furthermore,risk factors influencing HAO formation after LT were analyzed.RESULTS Compared to the non-HAO group,PVV and RI were higher in the A-HAO group,while PSV was lower.Conversely,both PSV and RI were lower in the C-HAO group compared to the non-HAO group.The proportion of patients undergoing complex hepatic artery reconstructions and the gamma-glutamyltransferase(GGT)level before occlusion were significantly higher in the A-HAO group compared to the non-HAO group.However,there were no distinct differences between the two groups in D-dimer,MELD score,pre-occlusion alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase levels,or intraoperative conditions.CONCLUSION Ultrasound featur

A Numerical Study on the Propagation Mechanisms of Hydraulic Fractures in Fracture-Cavity Carbonate Reservoirs

Field data suggests that carbonate reservoirs contain abundant natural fractures and cavities.The propagation mechanisms of hydraulic fractures in fracture-cavity reservoirs are different from conventional reservoirs on account of the stress concentration surrounding cavities.In this paper,we develop a fully coupled numerical model using the extended finite element method(XFEM)to investigate the behaviors and propagation mechanisms of hydraulic fractures in fracture-cavity reservoirs.Simulation results show that a higher lateral stress coefficient can enhance the influence of the natural cavity,causing a more curved fracture path.However,lower confining stress or smaller in-situ stress difference can reduce this influence,and thus contributes to the penetration of the hydraulic fracture towards the cavity.Higher fluid viscosity and high fluid pumping rate are both able to attenuate the effect of the cavity.The frictional natural fracture connected to the cavity can significantly change the stress distribution around the cavity,thus dramatically deviates the hydraulic fracture from its original propagation direction.It is also found that the natural cavity existing between two adjacent fracturing stages will significantly influence the stress distribution between fractures and is more likely to result in irregular propagation paths compared to the case without a cavity.

BACKGROUND Reflux esophagitis is a common postoperative complication of proximal gastrectomy.There is an urgent need for a safer method of performing esophageal-gastric anastomosis that reduces the risk of reflux after proximal gastrectomy.We hypothesize that a novel technique termed esophagogastric asymmetric anastomosis(EGAA)can prevent postoperative reflux in a safe and feasible manner.To observe a novel method of EGAA to prevent postoperative reflux.METHODS Initially,we employed a thermal stress computer to simulate and analyze gastric peristalsis at the site of an esophagogastric asymmetric anastomosis.This was done in order to better understand the anti-reflux function and mechanism.Next,we performed digestive tract reconstruction using the EGAA technique in 13 patients who had undergone laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy.Post-surgery,we monitored the structure and function of the reconstruction through imaging exams and gastroscopy.Finally,the patients were followed up to assess the efficacy of the anti-reflux effects.RESULTS Our simulation experiments have demonstrated that the clockwise contraction caused by gastric peristalsis and the expansion of the gastric fundus caused by the increase of intragastric pressure could significantly tighten the anastomotic stoma,providing a means to prevent the reverse flow of gastric fluids.Thirteen patients with esophagogastric junction tumors underwent laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy,with a mean operation time of 304.2±44.3 min.After the operation,the upper gastroenterography in supine/low head positions showed that eight patients exhibited no gastroesophageal reflux,three had mild reflux,and two had obvious reflux.The abdominal computed tomography examination showed a valve-like structure at the anastomosis.During followup,gastroscopy revealed a closed valve-like form at the anastomosis site without stenosis or signs of reflux esophagitis in 11 patients.Only two patients showed gastroesophageal reflux symptoms and mild reflux esophagitis and were treated with proto

BACKGROUND Given the current organ shortage crisis,split liver transplantation(SLT)has emerged as a promising alternative for select end-stage liver disease patients.AIM To introduce an ex-vivo liver graft splitting approach and evaluate its safety and feasibility in SLT.METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on the liver transplantation data from cases performed at our center between April 1,2022,and May 31,2023.The study included 25 SLT cases and 81 whole liver transplantation(WLT)cases.Total ex-vivo liver splitting was employed for SLT graft procurement in three steps.Patient outcomes were determined,including liver function parameters,postoperative complications,and perioperative mortality.Group comparisons for categorical variables were performed using theχ²-test.RESULTS In the study,postoperative complications in the 25 SLT cases included hepatic artery thrombosis(n=1)and pulmonary infections(n=3),with no perioperative mortality.In contrast,among the 81 patients who underwent WLT,complications included perioperative mortality(n=1),postoperative pulmonary infections(n=8),abdominal infection(n=1),hepatic artery thromboses(n=3),portal vein thrombosis(n=1),and intra-abdominal bleeding(n=5).Comparative analysis demonstrated significant differences in alanine aminotransferase(176.0 vs 73.5,P=0.000)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)(42.0 vs 29.0,P=0.004)at 1 wk postoperatively,and in total bilirubin(11.8 vs 20.8,P=0.003)and AST(41.5 vs 26.0,P=0.014)at 2 wk postoperatively.However,the overall incidence of complications was comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that the total ex-vivo liver graft splitting technique is a safe and feasible approach,especially under the expertise of an experienced transplant center.The approach developed by our center can serve as a valuable reference for other transplantation centers.
