Can patients with mild non-neoplastic lesions diagnosed at baseline screening be safely exempt from surveillance: evidence from multicenter community-based cohorts

Surveillance recommendations for gastric cancer（GC） in current guidelines focused on advanced precancerous lesions and were based on precise diagnosis of severity/extent of baseline lesions. We aimed to develop a less endoscopy-related equipment-dependent risk-stratification tool, and assessed whether mild-precursor-lesion patients can be safely exempt from surveillance. In the multicenter communitybased cohort, 75,051 participants receiving baseline endoscopy were enrolled during 2015–2017 and followed-up until 2021. Cumulative incidence rates（CIRs） of GC for precancerous-conditions were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method and compared by Log-rank tests. Mixedeffects Cox regression models were used to detect potential factors for progression towards GC. A risk score was calculated as counts of selected factors. An independent cohort, including 26,586 participants was used for external validation. During a median follow-up of 6.25 years, CIRs of GC were 0.302%, 0.436%, and 4.756% for normal group, non-neoplastic（atrophic gastritis/intestinal metaplasia） and neoplastic lesions（low-grade/high-grade dysplasia）, respectively(Ptrend<0.001). Four predictors, including male, ≥60 years, smoking, and limited vegetable consumption, were selected for risk-stratification. High-risk patients（≥3 risk factors） with non-neoplastic lesions showed higher GC risks（adjusted HR=7.73, 95%CI: 4.29–13.92）, and their four-year CIR reached the one-year CIR of neoplastic lesions. Further categorizing non-neoplastic lesions by histological grade, both patients with moderate-to-severe lesions（aHR=3.07, 95%CI: 1.67–5.64） and high-risk patients with mild lesions（aHR=7.29, 95%CI: 3.58–14.86） showed higher risks. Consistent trends were observed in validation cohort. High-risk mild-precursor-lesion patients should receive surveillance within 3–5 years after baseline screening. Our study provides evidence on supplementing current guideline recommendations.

Detailing interfacial reaction layer products between cubic boron nitride and Cu-Sn-Ti active filler metal

In the present study,we offer an in-depth analysis over the microstructure,thickness and product composition of the interfacial reaction layer generated upon CBN/Cu-Sn-Ti active filler metal at 1223 *** findings demonstrate that adequate wettability and satisfactory bonding have been achieved via chemical reactions between Ti and N,*** importantly,we report,for the first time,the formation of a three-layer juxtaposition of reaction products,namely,TiN,TiB2 and TiB,along the diffusion path of ***,we determine the average layer thickness to be 1.24 μ*** deep etching,we unambiguously present morphologies of the newly formed TiN and TiB2,which are columnar and bulky,re spectively,and constitute the formation of a high strength metallu rgical interfacial bonding layer,and is crucial towards gaining enhanced grinding ***,we propose a possible reaction sequence and mechanism that govern the nucleation and growth of corre s ponding crystals.

The M1/M2 phenotypic shift of microglia after spinal cord injury plays an important role in the regulation of neuroinflammation during the secondary injury phase of spinal cord *** of shifting microglia polarization from M1(neurotoxic and proinflammatory type)to M2(neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory type)after spinal cord injury appears to be *** possesses an anti-inflammatory biological ***,its roles and the underlying molecular mechanisms in spinal cord injury remain *** this study,we found that tryptanthrin inhibited microglia-derived inflammation by promoting polarization to the M2 phenotype in *** promoted M2 polarization through inactivating the cGAS/STING/NF-κB ***,we found that targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway with tryptanthrin shifted microglia from the M1 to M2 phenotype after spinal cord injury,inhibited neuronal loss,and promoted tissue repair and functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord ***,using a conditional co-culture system,we found that microglia treated with tryptanthrin suppressed endoplasmic reticulum stress-related neuronal *** together,these results suggest that by targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis,tryptanthrin attenuates microglia-derived neuroinflammation and promotes functional recovery after spinal cord injury through shifting microglia polarization to the M2 phenotype.

Experimental Study on Geometry Characteristics of Turbulent Premixed Flames for Natural Gas/Air Mixtures

In this study,focusing on the geometry characteristics of spherical expanding flame,the turbulent premixed flames of natural gas/air mixtures were investigated in a fan-stirred turbulent *** effects of initial temperature（T=300-400 K）,initial pressure（P=0.1-0.3 MPa）,turbulence intensity（u'=1.0-2.7 m/s）,oxygen volumetric percentage(φ（O2）=15%-21%) and carbon dioxide volumetric percentage(φ（CO2）=0-20%)were delved *** flame profile under the Cartesian coordinate system was derived from the schlieren images taken by the high-speed ***,from both macroscopic and microscopic perspectives,the influence of experimental conditions on the flame geometry characteristics was explored through flame front extraction,wavelet decomposition and network *** results demonstrate that for significant flame wrinkling,changes in species concentrations and turbulence intensity have more pronounced effects on the flame wrinkling *** wrinkling of the flame front maintains a certain degree of similarity,as evidenced by the locally concentrated distribution of the angles of the maximum fluctuation *** disturbance energy under large-scale（D6-D8） disturbances exhibits relatively high values with a similar trend,exerting a significant impact on the geometry characteristics of the flame *** peaks of correlation degree are scattered either with the decomposition scale or the development of flame radius,indicating no linear correlation between different detail ***,the probability distribution of node degrees in key wrinkled regions exhibits different trends with that of large-scale wrinkling and disturbance energy,especially with changes in initial *** occurs because the number of key wrinkles varies based on the perturbation's strength or the region's ***,an increase in the fluctuation frequency of the flame's local radius may not necessarily lead to an increase in the number of key folded regions.

Constructing Pr-doped CoOOH catalytic sites for efficient electrooxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural

Electrocatalytic conversion of renewable biomass is emerging as a promising route for sustainable chemical production;hence it urgently calls for developing efficient electrocatalysts with low potentials and high current ***,a Pr-doped Co（OH）2hexagonal sheet （Pr/Co=1/9,in mole） is synthesized by electrodeposition as highly performant catalyst for 5-hydroxymethylfurfural （HMF） oxidation reaction（HMFOR） to produce 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid （FDCA）.This novel and low-cost catalyst possesses a rather low onset potential of 1.05 V （***） and requires only 1.10 V （***） to reach a current density of 10 mA cm-2for HMFOR,significantly outperforming Co（OH）2benchmark (i.e.,210 mV higher to reach10 m A cm-2).The origin of Pr promotion effect as well as the evolution of CoOOH catalytic sites and HMFOR process has been deeply elucidated by physical characterizations,kinetic experiments,in situ electrochemical techniques,and theoretical *** unique Pr-ameliorated CoOOH active centers enable 100%conversion of HMF,99.6%selectivity of FDCA,and 99.7%Faraday efficiency,with a superior cycling durability toward *** can be one of the most outstanding results for Co-based HMFOR catalysts to date in the *** this work can help open up new horizons for constructing novel and efficient Co-based electrocatalysts by the utilization of lanthanide elements.

Computing knots by quadratic and cubic polynomial curves

A new method is presented to determine parameter values(knot)for data points for curve and surface *** four adjacent data points,a quadratic polynomial curve can be determined uniquely if the four points form a convex *** the four data points do not form a convex polygon,a cubic polynomial curve with one degree of freedom is used to interpolate the four points,so that the interpolant has better shape,approximating the polygon formed by the four data *** degree of freedom is determined by minimizing the cubic coefficient of the cubic polynomial *** advantages of the new method are,firstly,the knots computed have quadratic polynomial precision,i.e.,if the data points are sampled from a quadratic polynomial curve,and the knots are used to construct a quadratic polynomial,it reproduces the original quadratic ***,the new method is affine invariant,which is significant,as most parameterization methods do not have this ***,it computes knots using a local *** show that curves constructed using knots computed by the new method have better interpolation precision than for existing methods.

Complete Universal Scaling in First-Order Phase Transitions

Phase transitions and critical phenomena are among the most intriguing phenomena in nature and *** are classified into first-order phase transitions(FOPTs)and continuous *** the latter shows marvelous phenomena of scaling and universality,whether the former behaves similarly is a long-standing controversial *** we definitely demonstrate complete universal scaling in field driven FOPTs for Langevin equations in both zero and two spatial dimensions by rescaling all parameters and subtracting nonuniversal contributions with singular dimensions from an effective temperature and a special field according to an effective *** offers a perspective different from the usual nucleation and growth but conforming to continuous phase transitions to study FOPTs.

Compressive elastic behavior of single-crystalline 4H-silicon carbide(SiC) nanopillars

As a wide-bandgap semiconductor, 4H-SiC is an ideal material for high-power and high-frequency devices, and plays an increasingly important role in developing our country’s future electric vehicles and 5G techniques. Practical applications of SiCbased devices largely depend on their mechanical performance and reliability at the micro-and nanoscales. In this paper, singlecrystal [0001]-oriented 4H-SiC nanopillars with the diameter ranging from ~200 to 700 nm were microfabricated and then characterized by in situ nanomechanical testing under SEM/TEM at room temperature. Loading-unloading compression tests were performed, and large, fully reversible elastic strain up to ~6.2% was found in nanosized pillars. Brittle fracture still occurred when the max strain reached ~7%, with corresponding compressive strength above 30 GPa, while in situ TEM observation showed few dislocations activated during compression along the [0001] direction. Besides robust microelectromechanical system(MEMS), flexible device and nanocomposite applications, the obtained large elasticity in [0001]-oriented 4H-SiC nanopillars can offer a fertile opportunity to modulate their electron mobility and bandgap structure by nanomechanical straining,the so called "elastic strain engineering", for novel electronic and optoelectronic applications.

Spatial identification and scenario simulation of the ecological transition zones under the climate change in China

Explicitly identifying the spatial distribution of ecological transition zones(ETZs)and simulating their response to climate scenarios is of significance in understanding the response and feedback of ecosystems to global climate *** this study,a quantitative spatial identification method was developed to assess ETZ distribution in terms of the improved Holdridge life zone(iHLZ)*** on climate observations collected from 782 weather stations in China in the T0(1981–2010)period,and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(IPCC CMIP5)RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5 climate scenario data in the T1(2011–2040),T2(2041–2070),and T3(2071–2100)periods,the spatial distribution of ETZs and their response to climate scenarios in China were simulated in the four periods of T0,T1,T2,and ***,a spatial shift of mean center model was developed to quantitatively calculate the shift direction and distance of each ETZ type during the periods from T0 to *** simulated results revealed 41 ETZ types in China,accounting for 18%of the whole land *** temperate grassland/humid forest and warm temperate arid forest(564,238.5 km~2),cold temperate humid forest and warm temperate arid/humid forest(566,549.75 km~2),and north humid/humid forest and cold temperate humid forest(525,750.25 km~2)were the main ETZ types,accounting for 35%of the total ETZ area in *** 2010 and 2100,the area of cold temperate desert shrub and warm temperate desert shrub/thorn steppe ETZs were projected to increase at a rate of 4%per decade,which represented an increase of 3604.2,10063.1,and 17,242 km~2 per decade under the RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5 scenarios,*** cold ETZ was projected to transform to the warm humid ETZ in the *** average shift distance of the mean center in the north wet forest and cold temperate desert shrub/thorn grassland ETZs was generally larger than that of other ETZs,with the mean center moving to the n
