Introduction: Gallstone disease, also known as gallbladder stones or GBS, is almost always asymptomatic but can result in a number of problems, including ascending cholangitis and obstructive jaundice. The frequency of gallbladder stones among patients who were sent for abdominal ultrasound at Mogadishu Somali Turkey Training and Research Hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia, during the period between January 2018 and June 2022 was assessed in this study. Methods: This is a record-based study that was carried out at the radiology department of Mogadishu Somali Turkey Training and Research Hospital on patients who were chosen for abdominal ultrasounds during the months of January 2018 and January 2022. The study focused on cases that occurred within those periods. Reports of abdominal ultrasounds served as the source of the collected data. Results: Records from 2352 patients are included in this study. They were divided into 451 (19.1%) males and 1901 (80.8%) females. Patients with GBS were present in 76.4 percent of cases. 73.2 percent of patients had big stones larger than 5 mm, while 53.4 percent of patients had several stones. GBS 1474 (77.5%) was substantially more common in females than in males (71.6%: 323/451) (P 0.008). The presence of small stones (less than 5 mm) was also shown to be significantly different between males and females (P = 0.015). furthermore, compared with men, females had a considerably higher frequency of big GBS (5 mm) (P 0.015). Conclusion: In this study, it was discovered that females were significantly more likely than males to have GBS. Small stones were found much more frequently in the males. When compared to men, females had a considerably higher frequency of large GBS.

The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic had deleterious effects on the healthcare systems around the *** increase intensive care units(ICUs)bed capacities,multiple adaptations had to be made to increase surge *** this editorial,we demonstrate the changes made by an ICU of a midwest community hospital in the United *** changes included moving patients that used to be managed in the ICU to progressive care units,such as patients requiring noninvasive ventilation and high flow nasal cannula,ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients,and post-neurosurgery ***,newer tactics were applied to the processes of assessing oxygen supply and demand,patient care rounds,and post-ICU monitoring.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAfLD) is a recognized problem in patients after orthotopic liver transplantation and may lead to recurrent graft injury. As the increased demand for liver allografts fail to match the available supply of donor organs, split liver transplantation(SLT) has emerged as an important technique to increase the supply of liver grafts. SLT allows two transplants to occur from one donor organ, and provides a unique model for observing the pathogenesis of NAfLD with respect to the role of recipient environmental and genetic factors. Here we report on two recipients of a SLT from the same deceased donor where only one developed non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH), suggesting that host factors are critical for the development of NASH.

Chemical composition of essential oils and in vitro antioxidant activity of fresh and dry leaves crude extracts of medicinal plant of Lactuca Sativa *** to sultanate of Oman

Objective:To isolate and analyse the chemical composition in the essential oils and free radical scavenging activity of different crude extracts from the fresh and dry leaves of vegetable plants of Lactuca sativa L.(***).Methods:The essential oils and volatile chemical constituents were isolated from the fresh and dry leaves of ***(lettuce)grown in Sultanate of Oman by hydro distillation *** antioxidant activity of the crude extracts was carried out by well established free radical scavenging activity(DPPH)***:About 20 chemical compounds of different concentration representing 83.07%and 79.88%respectively were isolated and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy in the essential oils isolated from the fresh and dry leaves asα-pinene(5.11%and 4.05%).γ-cymene(2.07%and 1.92%),thymol(11.55%and 10.73%),durenol(52.00%and 49.79%),α-terpinene(1.66%and 1.34%),thymol acetate(0.99%and 0.67%),caryophyllene(2.11%and 1.98%),spathulenol(3.09%and 2.98%).camphene(4.11%and3.65%),limonene(1.28%and 1.11%)representing these major chemical ***,some other minor chemical constituents were also isolated and identified from the essential oil of lettuce including p-pinene,α-terpinolene,linalool,4-terpineol,α-terpineol,o-methylthymol,L-alloaromadendrene and ***:The chemical consliluents in the essential oils from the locally grown lettuce were identified in the following classes or groups of chemical compounds such as monoterpenes,sesquiterpenes volatile organic compounds and their oxygenated ***,the essential oils and the crude extracts from Omani vegetable species of lettuce are active candidates which would be used as antioxidant,antifungal or antimicrobial agents in new drugs preparation for therapy of infectious diseases.

目的分析淀粉样前体样蛋白2(APLP2)在肝细胞癌中的表达水平及其在临床中的价值。方法利用数据库分析APLP2在肝细胞癌中的表达水平,收集2015年12月-2020年5月年来自江苏大学附属医院的肝细胞癌组织及配对的癌旁正常组织标本40例,通过免疫组化染色分析APLP2的表达差异。分析肝细胞癌组织中APLP2表达水平与临床病理特征之间的关系,并通过生存分析判断APLP2在肝细胞癌患者临床预后中的价值。结果数据库分析表明,APLP2在肝细胞癌中高表达(P<0.001);免疫组织化学分析结果表明,相对于癌旁正常组织,APLP2在肝细胞癌组织中高表达,差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=9.141,P=0.003)。APLP2表达水平与肿瘤Edmondson-Steiner分级(χ^(2)=13.100,P=0.000)、TNM分期(χ^(2)=8.087,P=0.005)以及脉管侵犯(χ^(2)=10.510,P=0.001)密切相关。生存分析表明,APLP2与患者预后不良密切相关(χ^(2)=17.530,P<0.001)。结论APLP2在肝细胞癌中高表达,其表达水平与肿瘤Edmondson-Steiner分级、TNM分期以及脉管侵犯密切相关,对肝细胞癌患者总体生存率具有重要的评估价值。

Diabetes Mellitus is a significant health care challenge in the United *** Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates approximately 9.4%of patients in the United States are afflicted by *** Infectious Disease Society of America asymptomatic bacteriuria in women as two consecutive cleancatch voided urine specimens with isolation of the same bacterial strain in counts≥105 cfu/mL It is understood that diabetic patients tend to be at higher risk for infections than *** tract infections(UTIs)tend to be the most common infection contracted by this *** are not only a significant cause of morbidity and mortality,they are also a significant financial *** data are conflicting,in regard to treating asymptomatic bacteriuria in diabetic patients to avoid hospital complications and ultimately decrease healthcare costs associated with these ***,clinicians continue to prescribe antibiotics *** randomized controlled study looking into the specific population as immunocompromised diabetic patients,patient with diabetic ketoacidosis and patient in intensive care unit needs to be undertaken.

Background Progress in malaria control has stalled in recent years and innovative surveillance and response approaches are needed to accelerate malaria control and elimination eforts in endemic areas of ***‑ing on a previous China-UK-Tanzania pilot study on malaria control,this study aimed to assess the impact of the 1,7-malaria Reactive Community-Based Testing and Response(1,7-mRCTR)approach implemented over two years in three districts of *** The 1,7-mRCTR approach provides community-based malaria testing via rapid diagnostic tests and treat‑ment in villages with the highest burden of malaria incidence based on surveillance data from health *** used a diference-in-diferences quasi-experimental design with linear probability models and two waves of crosssectional household surveys to assess the impact of 1,7-mRCTR on malaria *** conducted sensitivity analyses to assess the robustness of our results,examined how intervention efects varied in subgroups,and explored alternative explanations for the observed *** Between October 2019 and September 2021,244,771 community-based malaria rapid tests were com‑pleted in intervention areas,and each intervention village received an average of 3.85 rounds of *** prevalence declined from 27.4%at baseline to 11.7%at endline in the intervention areas and from 26.0%to 16.0%in the control areas.1,7-mRCTR was associated with a 4.5-percentage-point decrease in malaria prevalence(95%confdence interval:−0.067,−0.023),equivalent to a 17%reduction from the *** Rufji,a district characterized by lower prevalence and where larviciding was additionally provided,1,7-mRCTR was associated with a 63.9%decline in malaria *** The 1,7-mRCTR approach reduced malaria *** implementation interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain challenges,the study provided novel evidence on the efectiveness of community-based reactive approache
