The fauna of the Pleistocene Homo-bearing sites of Java has been well known for more than a century.A recent revision of the crocodylian remains confirmed both the validity of Gavialis bengawanicus and the synonymiza-tion of Crocodylus ossifragus with *** we report on a still unpublished crocodylian specimen collected by Eugene Dubois in the latest Early Pleistocene of Kali Gedeh that can be tentatively referred to the genus *** size of the specimen,the approximately 1 m long lower jaw in particular,indicat-ed that this crocodile attained a total length of approximately 6 or 7 *** with specimens from the Plio-Pleistocene of Africa,this material provides evidence for gigantism in *** is not clear whether or not the‘temperature-size rule’applies to fossil crocodylians,but due to the growing interest in predicting future temperature-related size changes of the extant organisms,it would be interesting to study in detail the past reac-tion to temperature changes of crocodylians and other terrestrial ectothermic animals.

Background:medical literature on the prevalence of genetic liver disease is *** this study,we investigated the inhospital healthcare and economic burden from genetic causes of non-alcoholic chronic liver disease(NACLD)and nonalcoholic liver cirrhosis(NALC)in the ***:Data were abstracted from the National Inpatient Sample database between 2002 and 2014 using ICD9 codes for patients discharged with NACLD and NALC secondary to genetic diseases including alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency(A1ATd),cystic fibrosis(Cf),Wilson disease(WD),hereditary hemochromatosis(HHC),glycogen storage disease,and disorders of aromatic amino-acid metabolism(DAAAm).Results:Throughout the study period,there were 19,332 discharges for NACLD associated with the six genetic diseases including 14,368 for *** were$1.09 billion in hospital charges,790 in-hospital deaths,and 955 liver transplants ***,A1ATd was associated with 8,983(62.52%)hospitalizations for NALC followed by WD,Cf,and *** highest in-hospital mortality was seen with *** greatest frequency of liver transplants was seen with ***:The number of hospitalizations for genetic liver diseases continues to *** increased funding and directed research efforts,we can aim to improvemedical treatments and the quality of life for patients at risk for liver deterioration.

We review recent studies of cavity switching induced by the optical injection of free carriers in micropillar cavities containing quantum *** the quantum dots as a broadband internal light source and a streak camera as detector,we track the resonance frequencies for a large set of modes with picosecond time *** report a record-fast switch-on time constant(1.5 ps)and observe major transient modifications of the modal structure of the micropillar on the 10 ps time scale:mode crossings are induced by a focused symmetric injection of free carriers,while a lifting of several mode degeneracies is observed when off-axis injection breaks the rotational symmetry of the *** show theoretically and experimentally that cavity switching can be used to tailor the dynamic properties of the coupled QD-cavity *** report the generation of ultrashort spontaneous emission pulses(as short as 6 ps duration)by a collection of frequency-selected QDs in a switched pillar *** pulses display a very small coherence length,attractive for ultrafast speckle-free ***,the control of QD-mode coupling on the 10 ps time scale establishes cavity switching as an appealing resource for quantum photonics.

AIm:To study the clinical efficacy and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation(fmT).We systematically reviewed fmT used as clinical ***:We searched mEDLINE,EmBASE,the Cochrane Library and Conference proceedings from inception to July,*** effect of fmT was calculated as the percentage of patients who achieved clinical improvement per patient category,on an intention-to-treat ***:We included 45 studies;34 on Clostridium difficile-infection(CDI),7 on inflammatory bowel disease,1 on metabolic syndrome,1 on constipation,1 on pouchitis and 1 on irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).In CDI 90% resolution of diarrhea in 33 case series(n = 867) was reported,and 94% resolution of diarrhea after repeated fmT in a randomized controlled trial(RCT)(n = 16).In ulcerative colitis(UC) remission rates of 0% to 68% were found(n = 106).In Crohn's disease(CD)(n = 6),no benefit was *** IBS,70% improvement of symptoms was found(n = 13).100% Reversal of symptoms was observed in constipation(n = 3).In pouchitis,none of the patients(n = 8) achieved *** RCT showed significant improvement of insulin sensitivity in metabolic syndrome(n = 10).Serious adverse events were ***:fmT is highly effective in CDI,and holds promise in *** for CD,chronic constipation,pouchitis and IBS data are too limited to draw *** increases insulin sensitivity in metabolic syndrome.

Introduction: Pediatricians are encouraged to promote behavior modification to reduce childhood obesity and its co-morbidities, yet the effectiveness of office counseling is unclear. We aimed to evaluate if a low-intensity intervention (action-oriented counseling) in a clinic setting results in weight stabilization, and if the effect is modified by a diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAfLD). We hypothesized that patients with NAfLD would be more motivated to adhere to the lifestyle goals set in clinic, due to the diagnosis of an obesity-related condition;and, would therefore achieve greater weight reduction compared to similarly overweight and obese patients without a diagnosis of NAfLD. methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted on 73 (35 male, 38 female) overweight and obese patients (BmI ≥ 85th percentile) attending a pediatric GI clinic between January 2006 and October 2011. Analysis was conducted to determine if lifestyle goals discussed with the patient at each clinic visit were associated with improved BmI, BmI z-score, and liver enzymes. Treatment outcomes among NAfLD patients and similarly obese patients without NAfLD were compared using t-tests and chi-square tests. Results: Of the children evaluated, 74.0% achieved a reduction or stabilization in BmI z-score after 3 months of follow-up. Among NAfLD patients, liver enzymes improved in 72% of those who were able to stabilize or reduce their BmI and among 43% of those who gained weight. Treatment outcome did not significantly differ based on having a diagnosis of NAfLD, although there was a trend towards greater improvements. Conclusion: Our study suggests that action oriented counseling including goal-setting in a low intensity, clinic based approach is effective in improving patient BmI, in the presence or absence of an obesity-related co-morbidity, such as NAfLD. further, we demonstrated that lifestyle modification led to improvement of liver enzymes in NAfLD patients and may result

Electron momentum spectroscopy(EmS),a new spectroscopic technique,measures electron momentum distributions directly and visualizes the dispersion relation between energy and momentum of electrons in *** present EmS measurements of two kinds of thin films:a free electron metal:Al,and an ionic insulator:*** Al,the measured spectral momentum density plot shows a parabolic dispersion pattern characterizing a free electron metal and the agreement with a linear muffin-tin orbital (LmTO)calculation of spherically averaged Al is *** the spectral momentum density plot of AlO,the measurement shows clearly two major features and they are related to the upper valence band and the lower valence band of *** features are qualitatively reproduced by the LmTO calculation on a spherically averaged α-*** effects on core level shift are also studied by measuring binding energy spectra of the Al 2p level for clean Al,partly oxidized Al and AlO.A 3-eV energy shift of the Al 2p peak is observed.

荷兰帕克公司应用厌氧好氧连续工艺,成功处理了荷兰TenCate纺织厂的漂白和染色废水。该水处理工艺应用了容积为70m3的厌氧反应器和容积为450m3的好氧曝气池,废水色度去除率达80%～95%,且大部分色度是在预酸化池和厌氧反应器中去除的。经厌氧好氧处理后的废水,对生物发光细菌Vibrofisheri无毒性。若使一部分废水不经过厌氧直接进入好氧进行处理,结果表明,好氧出水毒性增加,且色度去除率大大降低。这说明,厌氧处理对于废水的脱色和毒性去除起着重要的作用。
