The complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for ^(6)Li+^(209)Bi were measured using the in-beamγ-ray method around the Coulomb *** cross sections of(deuteron captured)incomplete fusion(ICf)products were re-quantified experimentally for this reaction *** results reveal that the ICf cross section is equivalent to that of complete fusion(Cf)above the Coulomb barrier and dominant near or below the Coulomb barrier.A theoretical calculation based on the continuum discretized coupled channel(CDCC)method was performed for the aforementioned Cf and ICf cross sections;the result is consistent with the *** universal fusion function(Uff)was also compared with the measured Cf cross section for different barrier parameters,demonstrating that the Cf suppression factor is significantly influenced by the choice of potential,which can reflect both dynamic and static effects of breakup on the fusion process.

In this study,green zinc oxide(ZnO)/polypyrrole(Ppy)/cellulose acetate(CA)film has been synthesized via solvent *** film was used as supporting material for glucose oxidase(GOx)to sensitize a glucose *** nanoparticles have been prepared via the green route using olive leaves extract as a ***/Ppy nanocomposite has been synthesized by a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole(Py)monomer using ferric chloride(feCl3)as an oxidizing *** produced materials and the composite films were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis(XrD),scanning electron microscope(SEm),fourier transform infrared(fTIr)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Glucose oxidase was successfully immobilized on the surface of the prepared film and then ZnO/Ppy/CA/GOx composite was sputtered with platinum electrode for the current determination at different initial concentrations of *** measurements proved the suitability and the high sensitivity of the constructed biosensor for the detection of glucose levels in different *** performance of the prepared biosensor has been assessed by measuring and comparing glucose concentrations up to 800 *** results affirmed the reliability of the developed biosensor towards real samples which suggests the wide-scale application of the proposed biosensor.

Sex differences in the risk of retinopathy of prematurity:a systematic review,frequentist and Bayesian meta‑analysis,and meta‑regression

Background retinopathy of prematurity(rOP)is generally considered to be more frequent in males than in ***,it is not known whether sex differences in rOP affect all degrees of the condition,are global and have changed as neonatology has *** aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies addressing sex differences in the risk of developing *** Pubmed/mEDLINE and Embase databases were *** frequentist,random-effects risk ratio(rr)and 95%confidence interval(CI)were *** model averaged(BmA)meta-analysis was used to calculate the Bayes factors(Bfs).The Bf10 is the ratio of the probability of the data under the alternative hypothesis(H1)over the probability of the data under the null hypothesis(H0).results We included 205 studies(867,252 infants).frequentist meta-analysis showed a positive association between male sex and severe rOP(113 studies,rr=1.14,95%CI=1.07–1.22)but no association with any rOP(144 studies,rr=1.00,95%CI=0.96–1.03).BmA showed extreme evidence in favor of H1 for severe rOP(Bf10=71,174)and strong evidence in favor of H0 for any rOP(Bf10=0.05).The association between male sex and severe rOP remained stable over time and was present only in cohorts from countries with a high or high-middle sociodemographic *** Our study confirms the presence of a male disadvantage in severe rOP but not in less severe forms of the *** are variations in the sex differences in rOP,depending on geographical location and sociodemographic level of the countries.

Background:Impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology have been associated with altered knee biomechanics,pain,and *** the presence of these impairments in individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders is important and may indicate targets for assessment and *** systematic review aimed to synthesize the literature to determine the presence of impairments in hamstring strength,flexibility,and morphology in individuals with gradual-onset knee ***:five databases(mEDLINE,Embase,CINAHL,SPOrTDiscus,and Web of Science)were searched from inception to September *** studies comparing hamstring outcomes(e.g.,strength,flexibility,and/or morphology)between individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders and their unaffected limbs or pain-free controls were ***-analyses for each knee disorder were ***-level certainty was assessed using the Grading of recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation,and evidence gap maps were ***:Seventy-nine studies across 4 different gradual-onset knee disorders(i.e.,knee osteoarthritis(OA),patellofemoral pain(PfP),chondromalacia patellae,and patellar tendinopathy)were *** with knee OA presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to pain-free controls during isometric(standard mean difference(SmD)=-0.76,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-1.32 to-0.21)and concentric contractions(SmD=-0.97,95%CI:-1.49 to-0.45).Individuals with PfP presented with reduced hamstring strength compared to painfree controls during isometric(SmD=-0.48,95%CI:-0.82 to-0.14),concentric(SmD=-1.07,95%CI:-2.08 to-0.06),and eccentric contractions(SmD=-0.59,95%CI:-0.97 to-0.21).No differences were observed in individuals with patellar *** with PfP presented with reduced hamstring flexibility when compared to pain-free controls(SmD=-0.76,95%CI:-1.15 to-0.36).Evidence gap maps identified insufficient evidence for chondromalacia patel

The glacial history of Pico de Orizaba indicates that during the Last Glacial maximum,its icecap covered up to~3000 m asl;due to the air temperature increasing,its main glacier has retreated to 5050 m *** retraction of the glacier has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles of great intensity;the resulting geomorphological processes are represented by the fragmentation of the bedrock that occupies the upper parts of the *** is a notable lack of studies regarding the fragmentation and erosion occurring in tropical high mountains,and the associated geomorphological risks;for this reason,as a first stage of future continuous research,this study analyzes the freezing and thawing cycles that occur above 4000 m asl,through continuous monitoring of surface ground *** results allow us to identify and characterize four zones:glacial,paraglacial,periglacial and *** was found that the paraglacial zone presents an intense drop of temperature,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** rock fatigue and intense freeze-thaw cycles that occur in this area are responsible for the high rate of rock disintegration and represent the main factor of the constant slope dynamics that occur at the *** activity decreases,both in frequency and intensity,according to the distance to the glacier,which is where the temperature presents a certain degree of stability,until reaching the proglacial zone,where cycles are almost non-existent,and therefore there is no gelifraction *** geomorphological processes have resulted in significant alterations to the mountain slopes,which can have severe consequences in terms of risk and water.

Cannabinoids are lipophilic substances derived from Cannabis sativa that can exert a variety of effects in the human *** have been studied in cellular and animal models as well as in human clinical trials for their therapeutic benefits in several human *** of these include central nervous system(CNS)diseases and dysfunctions such as forms of epilepsy,multiple sclerosis,Parkinson’s disease,pain and neuropsychiatric *** addition,the endogenously produced cannabinoid lipids,endocannabinoids,are critical for normal CNS function,and if controlled or modified,may represent an additional therapeutic avenue for CNS *** review discusses in vitro cellular,ex vivo tissue and in vivo animal model studies on cannabinoids and their utility as therapeutics in multiple CNS *** addition,the review provides an overview on the use of cannabinoids in human clinical trials for a variety of CNS *** and endocannabinoids hold promise for use as disease modifiers and therapeutic agents for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and neurological disorders.

A review of ethnobotanical studies reveals over 500 medicinal plants in mindanao,Philippines

medicinal plants have long been used to treat various diseases in both indigenous and non-indigenous populations of mindanao,***,we extracted data from ethnobotanical studies to compile a comprehensive list of these medicinal plants and identify how and for what purpose they are most commonly *** identified 530 verified medicinal plant species across 372 genera in 118 *** two most frequently cited species were Euphorbia hirta and Psidium *** most represented family was fabaceae and the most represented genus was ficus.A total of 28 medicinal plant species are designated as threatened at the national or global level;of these,11 are endemic to the *** plant preparations most commonly use leaves for oral administration to treat various diseases such as digestive issues,including *** study underscores the need for further ethnobotanical investigations,particularly in areas lacking *** also emphasizes the need for conservation of threatened and endemic medicinal plants to ensure sustainable utilization of this valuable resource.

Socioecological inequity in environmental data science—such as inequities deriving from data-driven approaches and machine learning(mL)—are current issues subject to debate and *** is growing consensus around embedding equity throughout all research and design domains—from inception to administration,while also addressing procedural,distributive,and recognitional ***,practically doing so may seem onerous or daunting to *** current perspective helps to alleviate these types of concerns by providing substantiation for the connection between environmental data science and socioecological inequity,using the Systemic Equity framework,and provides the foundation for a paradigmatic shift toward normalizing the use of equity-centered approaches in environmental data science and mL *** the integrity of environmental data science and mL is just beginning from an equity-centered tool development and rigorous application *** this end,this perspective also provides relevant future directions and challenges by overviewing some meaningful tools and strategies—such as applying the Wells-Du Bois Protocol,employing fairness metrics,and systematically addressing irreproducibility;emerging needs and proposals—such as addressing data-proxy bias and supporting convergence research;and establishes a ten-step path ***,the work that environmental scientists and engineers do ultimately affect the well-being of us all.
