Building custom Spreadsheet functions with Python: End-user Software Engineering Approach

End-user computing empowers non-developers to manage data and applications, enhancing collaboration and efficiency. Spreadsheets, a prime example of end-user programming environments widely used in business for data analysis. however, Excel functionalities have limits compared to dedicated programming languages. This paper addresses this gap by proposing a prototype for integrating Python’s capabilities into Excel through on-premises desktop to build custom spreadsheet functions with Python. This approach overcomes potential latency issues associated with cloud-based solutions. This prototype utilizes Excel-DNA and IronPython. Excel-DNA allows creating custom Python functions that seamlessly integrate with Excel’s calculation engine. IronPython enables the execution of these Python (cSfs) directly within Excel. c# and VSTO add-ins form the core components, facilitating communication between Python and Excel. This approach empowers users with a potentially open-ended set of Python (cSfs) for tasks like mathematical calculations, statistical analysis, and even predictive modeling, all within the familiar Excel interface. This prototype demonstrates smooth integration, allowing users to call Python (cSfs) just like standard Excel functions. This research contributes to enhancing spreadsheet capabilities for end-user programmers by leveraging Python’s power within Excel. future research could explore expanding data analysis capabilities by expanding the (cSfs) functions for complex calculations, statistical analysis, data manipulation, and even external library integration. The possibility of integrating machine learning models through the (cSfs) functions within the familiar Excel environment.

Pyrimidine Metabolism: Dynamic and Versatile Pathways in Pathogens and cellular Development

The importance of pyrimidines lies in the fact that they are structural components of a broad spectrum of key molecules that participate in diverse cellular functions, such as synthesis of DNA, RNA, lipids, and carbohydrates. Pyrimidine metabolism encompasses all enzymes involved in the synthesis, degradation, salvage, interconversion and transport of these molecules. In this review, we summarize recent publications that document how pyrimidine metabolism changes under a variety of conditions, including, when possible, those studies based on techniques of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. first, we briefly look at the dynamics of pyrimidine metabolism during nonpathogenic cellular events. We then focus on changes that pathogen infections cause in the pyrimidine metabolism of their host. Next, we discuss the effects of antimetabolites and inhibitors, and finally we consider the consequences of genetic ma- nipulations, such as knock-downs, knock-outs, and knock-ins, of pyrimidine enzymes on pyrimidine metabolism in the cell.

Low-complexity online correction and calibration of pedestrian dead reckoning using map matching and GPS

Dead Reckoning is a relative positioning scheme that is used to infer the change of position relative to a point of origin by measuring the traveled distance and orientation *** Dead Reckoning(PDR)applies this concept to walking *** method can be used to track someone's movement in a building after a known landmark like the building's entrance is ***,the movement of a foot and the corresponding direction change is measured and summed up,to infer the current *** and integrating the corresponding physical parameters,*** inertial sensors,introduces small errors that accumulate quickly into large distance *** of a buildings geography may reduce these errors as it can be used to keep the estimated position from moving through walls and onto likely *** this paper,we use building maps to improve localization based on a single foot-mounted inertial *** describe our localization method using zero velocity updates to accurately compute the length of individual steps and a Madgwick filter to determine the step *** though the computation of individual steps is quite accurate,small errors still accumulate in the long *** show how correction algorithms using likely and unlikely paths can rectify errors intrinsic to pedestrian dead reckoning tasks,such as orientation and displacement drift,and discuss restrictions and disadvantages of these *** also present a method of deriving the initial position and orientation from GPS *** verify our PDR correction methods analyzing the corrected and raw trajectories of six participants walking four routes of varying length and complexity through an office building,walking each route three *** quantitative results show an endpoint accuracy improvement of up to 60%when using likely paths and 23%when using unlikely ***,both approaches can also decrease accuracy in certain *** identify those scenarios and

The Darwin instability effect in the binary systems(di-planets, di-stars, and di-galaxies) is analyzed within the model based on the Regge-like laws. All possible binary stars are found satisfying the Darwin instability condition that requires to search for other mechanism triggering the merger of the contact binary objects. New analytical formulas are obtained for the orbital rotation period and the relative distance between components of the binary system. The decreasing and increasing periods as functions of mass asymmetry are related, respectively, with the non-overlapping and overlapping stage of the binary object evolution.

Tensors of Rank Two in Tensor flight Dynamics

Tensor flight dynamics solves flight dynamics problems using cartesian tensors, which are invariant under coordinate transformations, rather than Gibbs’ vectors, which change under time-varying transformations. Three tensors of rank two play a prominent role and are the subject of this paper: moment of inertia, rotation, and angular velocity tensor. A new theorem is proven governing the shift of reference frames, which is used to derive the angular velocity tensor from the rotation tensor. As applications, the general strap-down ins equations are derived, and the effect of the time-rate-of-change of the moment of inertia tensor on missile dynamics is investigated.

This paper is focused on calibration of an intelligent network simulation model （ins1M） with reallife transportation network to analyse the insIM＇s feasibility in simulating commuters＇ travel choice behaviour under the influence of real-time integrated multimodal traveller information （IMTI）. A transportation network model for the central and western areas of Singapore was simulated in PARAMIcS and integrated with insIM expert system by means of an application programming interface to form the insIM. Upon calibration, insIM was able to realistically present complicated scenarios in which real-time IMTI was provided to commuters and the network performance measures being recorded.

Tl-In-S三元系的实验研究

作者通过T1—In-S三元系实验研究,在300℃等温面上发现4个三元固溶体相和2个三元相。4个三元固溶体相的成分变化范围分别是:(Ⅰ)T1_(2c)ins_(16)-T1_(40)In_3S_(33);(Ⅱ)T1_4ins_5—T1_4ins_4;(Ⅲ)T1_8In_2S_7—T1_(15)In_3S_(11)和(Ⅳ)T1_2In_2S_5。2个三元相的成分分别是T1_3ins_3和T1_2In_2S_3。这些相之间的关系清楚地示于T1-In-S相图中。此外,在600℃时合成了三元相T1In_2S_3,并对前人的实验研究进行了补充和修正。

神经病理性疼痛与睡眠障碍高度共病。慢性疼痛病人容易发生睡眠质量下降和失眠。睡眠障碍病人也容易产生疼痛。美国哥伦比亚大学医学中心的周航博士和杨光博士等采用在体双光子成像、光/化学遗传学等方法,解析睡眠在疼痛慢性化中的作用。主要结果:(1)在坐骨神经分支选择性损伤(spared nerve injury,SNI)小鼠模型,从SNI术后3天(急性痛)至21天(慢性疼痛)的发展过程,初级感觉皮质(S1)兴奋性神经元的自发性钙活动在非快速眼动睡眠(nonrapid eye movement,NREM)显著增强,且其增强幅度明显高于清醒或其他睡眠时相。(2)S1兴奋性神经活动的加强,是由于此处血管活性肠肽中间神经元(vasoactive intestinal peptide-expressing interneurons,VIP ins)活性增强引起的。
