CaWO_(4):xEu^(3+),yTm^(3+)crystals were obtained by facile synthesis at low temperature by the microwaveassisted hydrothermal method(MAH).The phase formation,morphology,luminescent properties and ene rgy transfer were *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)re sults show the formation of a scheelitelike tetragonal structure without the presence of secondary *** growth mechanism of hierarchical micro structures based on self-assembly and Ostwald-ripening processes was evaluated,obtaining different types of *** luminescence spectra of CaWO_(4):Eu^(3+),Tm^(3+)at 325 nm excitation show the predominance of red emission at the 5 D0→7 f2(Eu^(3+))transition at 624 *** feature signals dominant behavior of the electric dipole *** presence of Tm^(3+)is notably evident in the absorption spectra by the related excitation transitions:3 H6→1 G4,3 H6→3 f3 and 3 H6→3 *** parameters are discussed to characterize CaWO_(4):Eu^(3+),Tm^(3+)*** study of the emission spectrum as a function of the concentration of Eu^(3+)(x mol%)and Tm^(3+)(y mol%)indicates that the CaWO_(4):Eu^(3+),Tm^(3+)phosphors show stronger red emission intensity and exhibit the CIE value of x=0.63 and y=*** photoluminescence results show 97%high color purity for CaWO_(4):4 mol%Eu^(3+),a high CRI(92%)and a low CCT of 1085 *** results demonstrate that the CaWO_(4):Eu^(3+),Tm^(3+)red phosphors are promising as color converters for application in white light-emitting diodes and display devices.

The effect of sodium reduction and Lactobacillus acidophilus addition(free or microencapsulated)on the quality parameters of requeijao cremoso processed cheese was assessed for 90 days at 5℃.Three formulations were prepared:(CONT)regular salt content and curd fusion(90℃/2 min),(fREE)reduced salt content+free probiotic culture added after curd fusion(90℃/2 min),and(MICRO)reduced salt content+microencapsulated probiotic culture added before curd fusion(70℃/5 min).fREE and MICRO formulations showed increased monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acid content,improved health indices(decreases in thrombogenic index and increases in desirable fatty acid index),and altered rheological properties(higher consistency index,apparent viscosity,elastic properties,and gel strength).In addition,the MICRO formulation showed higher texture sensory acceptance and probiotic counts higher than 6 log CfU/g during storage and simulated gastrointestinal ***,microencapsulation of probiotics with spray chilling represents an innovative solution in requeijao cremoso processed cheese.

The application of cleaner and effective technologies can be expanded to management and control, pollution mitigation and valorization of waste. In this Special Issue of Geoscience frontiers, we present contributions addressing the interactions of COVID-19 in relation to environment and human health.

The aim of the current study was to determine the nature of the seasonal variability of the Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM) fluxes from the drainage basin to the estuary in a macrotidal region(Northeastern Brazil),and the estuarine response to a seawater intrusion regarding sediment deposition,which will support the understanding of the global transport of materials at the continent-ocean *** structure data was acquired using a Conductivity,Temperature,and depth(CTD) probe with a sampling frequency of 4 *** particulate material was measured by gravimetric measurements applied to exact filtered volume *** outflows were measured through the use of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler(ADCP) with frequency of 1.5 *** horizontal thermal and saline gradients varied from warmer and less saline waters(2014) to cooler and saline waters(2015).The gradient behavior when linked to volume transport and SPM flows,suggests a minimization of the fluvial flows in 2015,easing the advance of coastal water(CW) towards the inner estuary,leading to an inversion of the baroclinic pressure *** bottom saline front,generated by the entrance of coastal water masses,caused an increase in SPM concentrations due to increased fluid density,resuspension of previously deposited sediment,and erosion of *** concentrations of SPM indicate higher volume transport suggesting a hydraulic barrier due to the change/inversion of the baroclinic pressure gradient,resulting in water and material *** deposition was observed during neap tide,while during spring tide the material is resuspended,increasing the concentration,generating cycles of deposition and erosion during the neap-spring *** sediment in suspension that reach the estuary,even with low fluvial volume,stay in this environment forming new islands because of *** deposition rates or sediment cycling,if generated by the hydraulic barrier,may indicate that the flo

The role of rhizobacteria in rice plants: Growth and mitigation of toxicity

Allelopathic compounds reduce the growth and productivity of upland rice plants, especially in consecutive plantations. The rhizobacteria Pseudomonas fluorescens BRM-32111 and Burkholderia pyrrocinia BRM-32113 have been recorded as growth promoters in rice. This study was developed to understand the effect of the application of rhizobacteria on upland rice plants in consecutive plantations. Experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications of four treatments: rice seed inoculated with P. fluorescens BRM-32111, rice seed inoculated with B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113(both sown on soil with rice residue), non-inoculated plants sown on soil with rice residue(control with residue(WR)), and non-inoculated plants on soil with no residue(NR). Roots and seedling growth were adversely affected by allelopathic compounds in control WR plants. Plants inoculated with rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRM-32111 or B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 induced an increase of 88% in biomass, 3% in the leaf area, 40% in length, 67% in root biomass, 21% in chlorophyll a, 53% in chlorophyll(a+b), 50% in rate of carbon assimilation(A), 227% in A/rubisco carboxylation efficiency(Ci) and 63% in water use efficiency(WUE) compared to control WR plants. These results indicate that rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRM-32111 and B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 increase the tolerance of rice plants to stress from allelochemicals. There are possible practical agricultural applications of these results for mitigating the effects of environmental allelochemistry on upland rice.

Effects of aeration on the suspended matter from a tropical and eutrophic estuary

A comprehensive understanding of the complex biogeochemical interactions between organic matter and persistent contaminants in the suspended matter is vital for ecoefficient estuary ***,little is known regarding aeration effects in suspended particulate ***,this study aimed to investigate the effects of aeration on the suspended matter from a Tropical and Eutrophic estuarine *** water with 60 g/L of suspended particulate matter(SPM)was collected from Guanabara Bay,Rio de Janeiro,Brazil,transferred to experimental boxes and aerated for 61 *** aggregates monitoring included abiotic variables measurements and,determination of total organic matter(TOM),biopolymers composition,bacterial activity,trace metals,and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)*** aeration enhanced dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration and the redox potential(Eh).However,from days 0 to 61 the predominant bacterial activities were denitrification and *** transport system activity increased after day 10,and aerobic activity was detected after day *** summary,aeration increased aerobic bacterial activity,lipids(LIP)and trace metal concentrations,although diminished protein/carbohydrate ratio and PAH *** metals concentration(Ni,Pb,Cu,Cr,Mn,and fe)were the highest on day 19 when the p H was *** presented toxic values(Cu>20.0μg/g).The p H showed a strong negative correlation with Eh(r=-0.94;pf toxic trace metals is unsafe for ***,managers must be aware of the environmental and biological risks of introducing the aeration technique into a eutrophic marine environment.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection has been impacting healthcare in various ways worldwide and cancer patients are greatly affected by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** reorganization of the health facilities in order to supply the high demand resulting from the aforementioned infection as well as the social isolation measures led to impairments for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with gastrointestinal cancers,which has had an impact on the prognosis of the oncologic *** that context,health authorities and organizations have elaborated new guidelines with specific recommendations for the management of individuals with gastrointestinal neoplasms during the *** note,oncologic populations seem to be more susceptible to unfavorable outcomes when exposed to SARS-CoV-2 infection and some interactions involving virus,tumor,host immune system and anticancer therapies are probably related to the poorer prognosis observed in those COVID-19 ***,vaccination stands out as the main prevention method against severe SARS-CoV-2 infection and some particularities have been observed regarding the seroconversion of vaccinated oncologic patients including those with gastrointestinal *** this minireview,we gather updated information regarding the influence of the pandemic in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal neoplasms,new recommendations for the management of gastrointestinal cancer patients,the occurrence of SARSCoV-2 infection in those individuals and the scenario of the vaccination against the virus in that population.

The Sergipano Orogenic System(SOS)in southern Borborema Province(NE Brazil)hosts voluminous Neoproterozoic plutonism related to the Brasiliano/Pan-African *** paper presents comprehensive whole-rock geochemical data,titanite U-Pb ages,and the first combined zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope results for plutonic rocks from the MacururéDomain to constrain their sources,petrogenesis,and tectonic *** magmatic episodes are recognized and record the evolutionary stages of the orogen.(i)Early-collisional magmatism(643–628 Ma)comprises gabbros and diorites with minor tonalites characterized by well-developed tectonic foliation and evidence of solid-state *** rocks are magnesian,high-K calc-alkaline,LILE-and LREE-enriched and provide subchondriticε_(Hf)(t)values(6.5 to4.7)and Orosirian Hf-T^(C)_(DM)model ages(1.83–1.94 Ga).Such features indicate derivation from a lithospheric mantle source metasomatized by incorporating crustal components through subduction processes prior to magma generation,possibly related to the Rhyacian Orogeny(2.20–1.96 Ga).Extensive mixing/mingling between basaltic and crust-derived magmas took place at lower crustal depths,producing coeval hybrid diorites and quartz-diorites.(ii)Syn-collisional magmatism(630–624 Ma)encompasses biotite-and muscovite-bearing granodiorites and monzogranites,preserving their structures parallel to the schistosity of the country *** rocks are leucocratic,weakly metaluminous to peraluminous,and contain abundant surmicaceous *** features and geochemical composition suggest an origin related to the partial melting of graywacke protoliths with a subordinate igneous component.(iii)Late-collisional magmatism(625–600 Ma)includes undeformed and isotropic monzonites and granodiorites,which truncate the regional *** rocks are consistently metaluminous and magnesian,showing affinities with the high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonite *** element modeling with su

Dynamical demixing of a Binary Mixture Under Sedimentation
