Combined application of neutron activation analysis using IECf device and neural network for prediction of cement elements

Purpose Gamma spectrum of a cement sample is not straightforward to analyze as a result of peak overlapping produced by Compton effect of gamma rays radiated from activated elements in the neutron activation process and also because of the change into the neutron energy spectrum in the target sample during *** Artificial neural network(ANN)is an excellent solution for complex and nonlinear ***,the use of ANN for quantitative analysis of major cement elements including Ca,Si,Al,and fe would be very *** inertial electrostatic confinement fusion device is a fast,monoenergetic and steady neutron *** was simulated as a high-energy neutron source for performing neutron activation *** the present study,a library of 29 members of delayed gamma-ray spectra of knowing cement samples were generated via MCNPX version *** photo-peaks related to Ca,Si,Al and fe obtained from these spectra were used as inputs for ANN(21 of them for training and 8 for testing).Then,using MLP architecture,an ANN model has been presented to model the system to predict the percentages of the elements in *** ANN model is optimized to have only a hidden layer with five *** The comparison between modeling data and results of proposed MLP network shows that there is a good consistency between *** MAE of training set for Ca,Si and fe outputs were 0.0351,0.0656 and 0.0660,respectively,and the MAE of testing set for mentioned outputs were 0.0997,0.3046 and 0.8699,*** Overall,it can be concluded that the defined dispensable errors show that this modeling is a good one as a prediction tool for the mentioned purpose.

Nonlinear Model Predictive Controller for Compensations of Single Line-to-ground fault in Resonant Grounded Power Distribution Networks

An nonlinear model predictive controller(NMPC)is proposed in this paper for compensations of single line-to-ground(SLG)faults in resonant grounded power distribution networks(RGPDNs),which reduces the likelihood of power line bushfire due to electric *** current compensation(RCC)inverters with arc suppression coils(ASCs)in RGPDNs are controlled using the proposed NMPC to provide appropri-ate compensations during SLG *** proposed NMPC is incorporated with the estimation of ASC inductance,where the estimation is carried out based on voltage and current measure-ments from the neutral point of the power distribution *** compensation scheme is developed in the discrete time using the equivalent circuit of *** proposed NMPC for RCC inverters ensures that the desired current is in-jected into the neutral point during SLG faults,which is veri-fied through both simulations and control hardware-in-the-loop(CHIL)*** results are also presented against an integral sliding mode controller(ISMC)by demon-strating the capability of power line bushfire mitigation.

Unraveling the nature of sensing in electrostatic MEMS gas sensors

This paper investigates the fundamental sensing mechanism of electrostatic MEMS gas *** compares among the responsivities of a set of MEMS isopropanol sensors before and after functionalization,and in the presence and absence of electrostatic fields when operated in static and dynamic detection *** the static mode,we found that the sensors do not exhibit a measurable change in displacement due to added *** the other hand,bare sensors showed a clear change in displacement in response to isopropanol *** the dynamic mode,functionalized sensors showed a measurable frequency shift due to the added mass of isopropanol *** the presence of strong electrostatic fields,the measured frequency shift was found to be threefold larger than that in their absence in response to the same concentration of isopropanol *** enhanced responsivity of dynamic detection allows the sensors to measure the vapor mass captured by the functional material,which is not the case for static *** detection of isopropanol by bare sensors in static mode shows that change in the medium permittivity is the primary sensing *** enhanced responsivity of dynamic mode sensors when operated in strong electrostatic fields shows that their sensing mechanism is a combination of a weaker added mass effect and a stronger permittivity *** findings show that electrostatic MEMS gas sensors are independent of the direction of the gravitational field and are,thus,robust to changes in *** is erroneous to refer to them as‘gravimetric’sensors.

[Objectives]To explore the relationship between anti-tumor components,targets,and pathways involved in Viola medicinal materials,study its main active components,and evaluate its inhibitory activity.[Methods]Through network pharmacological analysis,molecular docking simulation experiments and in vitro experiments,the main components and corresponding targets of Viola were screened out,and their anti-tumor signaling pathways were *** colorimetric assay was used to investigate the inhibitory effect of different extraction layers of Viola on the growth of tumor cells.[Results]18 anti-tumor active components such as 2α,19α-Dihydroxyursolic acid,Corlumine,Madolin U,Trifolirhizin and etc.,and 52 action targets such as PTGS2,PTGS1,P2RX7,MMP1,and GABRB3,and anti-tumor signaling pathways were *** results of molecular docking showed that all the selected Viola compounds had good binding *** results of MTT colorimetric assay showed that the petroleum ether layer and n-butanol layer had a good inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cell lines.[Conclusions]Viola medicinal materials have the potential of anti-tumor,triterpenoids and flavonoids may be the main active components,and the petroleum ether layer and n-butanol layer have better inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cells.

Control and vibration analyses of a sandwich doubly curved micro-composite shell with honeycomb,truss,and corrugated cores based on the fourth-order shear deformation theory

Curved shells are increasingly utilized in applied engineering due to their shared characteristics with other sandwich structures,flexibility,and attractive ***,the inability of controlling and regulating vibrations and destroying them afterward is a challenge to *** this paper,the curve shell equations and a linear quadratic regulator are adopted for the state feedback design to manage the structure vibrations in state space forms.A five-layer sandwich doubly curved micro-composite shell,comprising two piezoelectric layers for the sensor and actuator,is modeled by the fourth-order shear deformation *** core(honeycomb,truss,and corrugated)is analyzed for the bearing of transverse shear *** results show that the honeycomb core has a greater effect on the *** the parameters related to the core and the weight percentage of graphene increase,the frequency *** uniform distribution of graphene platelets results in the lowest natural frequency while the natural frequency ***,without taking into account the piezoelectric layers,the third-order shear deformation theory(TSDT)and fourth-order shear deformation theory(fOSDT)align ***,when the piezoelectric layers are incorporated,these two theories diverge significantly,with the frequencies in the fOSDT being lower than those in the TSDT.

Socioecological inequity in environmental data science—such as inequities deriving from data-driven approaches and machine learning(ML)—are current issues subject to debate and *** is growing consensus around embedding equity throughout all research and design domains—from inception to administration,while also addressing procedural,distributive,and recognitional ***,practically doing so may seem onerous or daunting to *** current perspective helps to alleviate these types of concerns by providing substantiation for the connection between environmental data science and socioecological inequity,using the Systemic Equity framework,and provides the foundation for a paradigmatic shift toward normalizing the use of equity-centered approaches in environmental data science and ML *** the integrity of environmental data science and ML is just beginning from an equity-centered tool development and rigorous application *** this end,this perspective also provides relevant future directions and challenges by overviewing some meaningful tools and strategies—such as applying the Wells-Du Bois Protocol,employing fairness metrics,and systematically addressing irreproducibility;emerging needs and proposals—such as addressing data-proxy bias and supporting convergence research;and establishes a ten-step path ***,the work that environmental scientists and engineers do ultimately affect the well-being of us all.

Premature axon-oligodendrocyte interaction contributes to stalling of experimental axon regeneration after injury to the white matter

Studies from nearly 3 decades ago suggested that,in the central nervous system(CNS),myelination of axons by oligodendrocytes not only helps improve axonal conductivity but also stabilizes circuitry(Colello and Schwab,1994).Over the years,myelin sheaths produced by oligodendrocytes have been found to contain multiple molecules that are inhibitory to axonal growth(e.g.,MAG,NogoA,OMgp,Semaphorins)(Yiu and He,2006;Silver et al.,2014).After white matter injury in the adult CNS,myelin debris from damaged axons and dead oligodendrocytes accumulates in the forming glial scar and exposes these myelin-associated axon growth-inhibitory molecules to the injured axonal stumps,thereby contributing to the inhibition of axonal *** development,CNS axons reach their postsynaptic targets and stop growing before oligodendrocytes appear and myelinate them(foran and Peterson,1992;Dangata et al.,1996).Therefore,myelin-associated axon growth-inhibitory molecules interacting with already grown axons during myelination were thought to block axons from promiscuous sprouting and miswiring,thereby stabilizing neural circuitry in the CNS(Colello and Schwab,1994).
