Every year mushroom wastes are produced in big volumes from edible mushroom production industries. Vermicomposting technology using earthworms as versatile natural bioreactors for effective recycling of organic wastes to the soil is an environmentally acceptable means of converting waste into nutritious composts for crop production. This study was undertaken to use earthworms （eisenia foetida） in vermicomposting on edible mushrooms wastes. The Randomized block design with three treatments in Kimia, Sabalan and Artashahr mushroom production industries were selected and four replications were applied for treatments. The total biomass of earthworms was estimated by counting the number of adults, juveniles and cocoons from each replication. The number of adult and mature worms, egg capsules and wet weight of earthworms were recorded in one month intervals （totally in five months）. Vermicomposting was carried out by these worms in four months in spite of delay in their establishment in mushroom wastes. The worms wet weight, their number and the number of capsules were increased up to fourth month and then decreased. The produced vermicompost had suitable properties for amending soil.

Theoretical Investigation of the Newly Designed Benzimidazole Based Metal Mediated DNA Base Couples with DfT Method

DNA has the genetic information storage and transmission capacity according to the sequential order of the monomer and creates a central role in the chemical evolution by copying itself with the proliferation feature. Watson-Crick base pairs define two base pairs with hydrogen bonds. If metal coordination bonds replace hydrogen bonds more stable alternative metallo-DNA sequence can be established. If the replication feature can be obtained for the metallo-DNA, this will greatly benefit the creation of DNA computer keys. In this study, a new type of benzimidazole based metallo-DNA sensors consisting of a connector unit that unsaturated azinil bridge linked to Watson-Crick base pairs with Ni2+, Hg2+, Zn2+, Ag+, Pt2+, Pd2+ metal cations and a benzimidazole has been designed. Absorption and emission spectrum of the newly designed aqua medium based fluorophore and their metallo-DNA sensors with selected cations have been theoretically investigated by using DfT method. The logic gates of selected possible sensors which response in the visible region have also been examined in detail in acidic and water phase. As a result of calculated absorption-emission spectrum data show that T-Hg-A-Bnz, A-Ni-T-Bnz, C-Pt-G-Bnz, C-Ni-C-Bnz complexes produce OR gate. T-Zn-T-Bnz and G-Pt-C-Bnz results demonstrated XOR and AND logic gate, respectively.

Status of ocular trauma in hospitalized patients in Kashan, 2011： As a sample of industrial city

Purpose： Ocular trauma is the third leading cause of hospitalization in ophthalmology patients, imposing direct and indirect physical and psychological costs on society. This study aims to investigate the status of ocular trauma in hospitalized patients in the industrialized city of Kashan in 2011. Methods： This cross-sectional descriptive applied study was conducted in 2012 on patients hospitalized for ocular trauma. Data, including age, gender, occupation, education, timing of admission following accident, location of accident, type of injury, damaging instrument, and type of trauma, were collected using a questionnaire designed by a trained nurse, and analyzed using SPSS-lfi software by means of means _＋ standard deviation, frequency, and percentage for descriptive data and t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Chi-square and fisher exact test for analysis at significance level ofp 〈 0.05. Results： In total, 82 patients were hospitalized due to ocular traumas. The majority of patients were male （65 patients, 79.3%）. Their mean age was （25.4 ± 21.4） years, with an age range of 20-40 years （30 patients, 36.6%）. Hyphema was the most common injury （26 patients, 25.5%）, home was the most frequent incident location （32 patients, 39%）, and knife or other cutting tools were mostly responsible for injuries （18 patients, 21.9%）. Patients were hospitalized for 1-6 days, and the average length of stay in hospital was 2.63 days. frequency distribution of injuries based on whether or not ruptures differed significantly among different age groups. Conclusion： The majority of ocular trauma occurred in young males. Knife was the principle culprit for eye injuries, followed by vehicles. To reduce such incidents, it is recommended that people be trained to avoid high-risk behaviors when using knives and to better heed driving rules and regulations.

Granulocytic sarcoma is a form of acute myeloid leukemia which may occur in any anatomical site. Isolated pancreatic granulocytic sarcoma is however, extremely rare. Translocation t(8;21) is the most common cytogenetic abnormality found in leukemia patients with granulocytic sarcoma and is associated with a relatively good prognosis when treated with chemotherapy. Variants of the t(8;21) are uncommon and account for approximately 3% to 4% of acute myeloid leukemia associated with t(8;21) and are rarely described in acute myeloid leukemia cases associated with granulocytic sarcoma. We report here a patient with acute myeloid leukemia and a novel variant t(8;9;21)(q22;p24;q22) with suspected granulocytic sarcoma in pancreas. A dual-color fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis with RUNX1T1 and RUNX1 probes, revealed the presence of an RUNX1/RUNX1T1 fusion signal in this translocation. To the best of our knowledge, a variant of t(8;21) in GS was rarely described and the involvement of the 9q22 region is the first time described here even in isolated AML-M2. We conclude that further accumulation of similar cases is needed and that genetic exploring of variants of t(8;21) may be helpful for a better understanding of molecular pathogenetic mechanism.
