A Cell-based Smoothed finite Element Method for Modal Analysis of non-Woven fabrics

The combination of a 4-node quadrilateral mixed interpolation of tensorial components element(MITC4)and the cell-based smoothed finite element method(CSfEM)was formulated and implemented in this work for the analysis of free vibration and unidirectional buckling of shell *** formulation was applied to numerous numerical examples of non-woven *** CSfEM schemes do not require coordinate transformation,spurious modes and numerical instabilities are prevented using bilinear quadrilateral element subdivided into two,three and four smoothing *** improvement of the original CSfEM formulation was made regarding the calculation of outward unit normal vectors,which allowed to remove the integral operator in the strain smoothing *** procedure conducted both to the simplification of the developed formulation and the reduction of computational cost.A wide range of values for the thickness-to-length ratio and edge boundary conditions were *** developed numerical model proved to overcome the shear locking phenomenon with success,revealing both reduced implementation effort and computational cost in comparison to the conventional fEM *** cell-based strain smoothing technique used in this work yields accurate results and generally attains higher convergence rate in energy at low computational cost.

Localized-states quantum confinement induced by roughness in CdMnTe/CdTe heterostructures grown on Si(111) substrates

This work shows that despite a lattice mismatch of almost 20%, CdMnTe/CdTe/CdMnTe heterostructures grown directly on Si(111) have surprisingly good optical emission properties. The investigated structures were grown by molecular beam epitaxy and characterized by scanning transmission electron microscopy, macro-and micro-photoluminescence. Low temperature macro-photoluminescence experiments indicate three emission bands which depend on the CdTe layer thickness and have different confinement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal that the lower energy emission band (at 1.48 eV)is associated to defects and bound exciton states, while the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2D character and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero-dimensional, 0D) 0D nature. Micro-photoluminescence measurements show the existence of sharp and strongly circularly polarized (up to 40%) emission lines which can be related to the presence of Mn in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of producing photon sources with the typical spin control of the diluted magnetic semiconductors using the low-cost silicon technology.

A Rapid Parameter of Enzyme-Treated Cellulosic Material Revealed by Reducing Sugar Release

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of enzymes in purifying and reducing the degree of polymerization of cellulose for the production of dissolving *** goal was to determine the contributions of xylanase(X)and endoglucanase(EG)in the treatment of pulp,specifically by quantifying the formation of soluble and insoluble reducing sugars using the dinitrosalycilic acid(DnS)***,the release of soluble reducing sugars(RSSol)was enhanced after xylanase treatment,while endoglucanase(EG)treatment led to changes in insoluble reducing sugars(RSIns).The maximum synergism was observed for RSIns when a high ratio of endoglucanase to xylanase(320EG:5X/g pulp)was *** relative contribution of endoglucanase to RSins was determined to be 15.6%of the total reducing *** viscosity of pulps treated with xylanase decreased only by 7%,whereas endoglucanase treatment significantly reduced viscosity by 45%.Modifications in the particle size were observed after pulp treatment with the combination of endoglucanase and *** summary,the DnS test is a rapid and effective method for evaluating the efficiency of enzyme treatments on *** measurement of RSIns correlates with changes in pulp viscosity to different extents,providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of enzyme treatments.

Phlogopite solid-solutions have a wide pressure-temperature(P-T)stability field and are ubiquitous in a wide variety of geological settings,from deep lithosphere magmatic environments to upper crust metamorphic *** composition represents therefore a valuable physical-chemical archive and may provide important information regarding its crystallization and the petrogenesis of the *** this paper we examine the phlogopite phenocrysts from the well-known fort Regent mica-bearing lamprophyre minette from ***(Island of Jersey,UK).Phlogopite phenocrystals from lamprophyres generally show normal-step and continuous compositional zoning,however those from the fort Regent minette show a peculiar texture characterized by dark brown high-Ti(average TiO_(2)≈8.5 wt.%)cores enveloped by euhedral low-to mid-amplitude zonation due to oscillatory contents in Ti,fe and ***-barometry modelling based on biotite-only composition yields relatively high P-T estimates(T≈970±54℃at P≈0.73±0.13 GPa)for cores whereas lower values(T≈790±54℃at P≈0.29±0.13 GPa)are obtained for the outer *** temperatures(T≈1075±54℃)but extremely high and anomalous pressure values(P≈1.82±0.13 GPa)are obtained for the yellowish inner *** combination of electron micro probe(EMP)analysis and single-crystal infra-red(fTIR)imaging in the OH-stretching region shows that the exceptional and oscillatory Ti contents are due to the Ti-vacancy substitution,typical of crystallization and growth processes of HP/HT *** imaging provides additional insight for this process,confirming the dominant dioctahedral nature for the Ti-fe-rich cores and outer *** of thermobaric estimates obtained from the phlogopite compositiononly model,based on the fine-scale compositional evolution,shows that pressure-temperature values from low-Ti high-Mg domains should be carefully evaluated because the substitution mechanisms during the dark mica growth are not univocal
