Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all professional sectors to varying degrees. It has forced companies to restructure, initiate and promote telework. The aim was to study the impacts of COVID-19 lockdown on banking activities in Conakry. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study over seven months (from November 25, 2020 to June 27, 2021) and multicentric. It included thirteen of the eighteen banks of the main city of the capital Conakry (Kaloum). We analysed socio-demographic data and occupational characteristics. We paid particular attention to banking activities and medical datas. Results: During our study period, 875 workers met to our criteria, one third of whom were men. The average age was 37.93 ± 9.39 years [22 - 71]. financial accounters were the most represented and average seniority at the job was 5.35 years. The work schedule was reduced during lockdown but an telework increased (29.8%). On the medical datas, the prevalence of COVID-19 was 20.7%;the lethality rate was 0.6% and the absentee rate 15.6%. The COVID-19 lockdown has deeply impacted the banking activities in Conakry particularly the productivity by a significant decrease in net banking income. Conclusion: Despite the continuity of activities during this pandemic, banks have experienced a reduction in their productivity resulting in a significant decrease in net banking income. These impacts of COVID-19 on the banking sector reflect its impact on the national economy.

Tubal ligation is a surgical sterilization procedure that provides permanent and reliable contraception to women.?Tubal obstruction is a method of permanent birth control that can be performed after mini-laparotomy under local anesthesia. Objective:?To determine the outcome of tubal sterilizations by mini-laparotomy under local anesthesia performed in clients who underwent the surgical operation in the Maternity Ward of Ignace Deen National Hospital. Patients and Methods:?The Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Ignace Deen National Hospital was used as the place for the study. The study involved all the women seeking voluntary surgical contraception. This was a retrospective study of a descriptive type carried out from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018. A consent form was filled out and signed by spouses after an interview and a systematically carried out pre-operative clinical and para-clinical assessment. Results:?During the study period, 56 tubal ligations were performed i.e. 4.72 percent of all family planning methods. The recruiting for the surgical contraception involved clients whose typical profile is that of women with an average age of 35, mostly housewives (35.71%), major multiparous (69.63%) with 6 living children on average. Married women made up the bulk of the recruiting i.e. 96.44%. Unmarried women made much more use of other methods. Indications of personal convenience were the most frequently encountered common reason. Among medical causes, high blood?pressure concerned the majority of cases: 38% of the indications. Surgical contraception in between was more practiced than the post-partum one. The recorded complication was the parietal hematoma due to a lack of hemostasis and it accounted for 1.79% of cases. The progress was uncomplicated in?98.68% of cases. forty couples (71.42%) expressed their feelings of satisfaction against only 6 cases of regret (10.71%). Objectives: The objectives of this work were to describe the socio-demographic, clinical and prognostic characteristics of forceps deliveries at the maternity ward of the Donka National Teaching Hospital of Conakry. Parturients and Method: This was a prospective and descriptive study of all forceps deliveries performed at the Donka National Hospital maternity ward over a 6-month period from April 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018. Results: We performed 90 fetal extractions by forceps on 3518 deliveries i.e. a frequency of 2.55%. The socio-demographic profile of the parturient women was that of a young primiparous woman with an average age of 21.20 years and a full-term pregnancy with an average gestational age of 39 weeks of amenorrhoea. fore position varieties were the most frequent with, in order of frequency, the fore left occipito-iliac (61.3%) and the fore right occipito-iliac (22.22%). Posterior varieties accounted for 15.55% of cases. Clinical pelvimetry showed that 88.89% of parturients had a practicable pelvis, while 11.11% had a moderately narrow pelvis. Acute fetal suffering was the most common indication (55.56%), followed by maternal exhaustion (27.78%) and prolonged expulsion (16.67%). All forceps were performed by doctors. We noted 8 cases of forceps failure (8.88%) that required a cesarean section. Maternal complications were dominated by soft tissue lesions, including 7 cases of perineal tearing (7.77%);4 cases of vaginal tearing (4.44%);3 cases of cervical tearing (3.33%) and 2 cases of hemorrhage of delivery by uterine atony (2.22%). No cases of maternal death have been recorded. The majority of newborns had a normal birth weight (88.88%) and more than half of newborns (66.66%) had an Apgar score below 7 out of 10 at the first minute. by the fifth minute there was an improvement in Apgar’s score from an average of 5 to 8 out of 10. five newborns died, or 5.55%. In developing countries, treatment of uterine fibromyoma is confronted with numerous problems, namely: financial inaccessibility to the proposed treatments, fear of surgery and the weakness of the technical platform.?Objectives: The objectives of the study were to calculate the frequency of uterine fibromyomas, describe the socio-demographic characteristics of patients, identify the main clinical data and to describe the modalities of surgical management.?Patients and Method:?It was a mixed descriptive study, cumulative over a period of 5 years (60 months) with data collection in two phases: a 4-year retrospective study from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 and a 1-year prospective study from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.?Results: We collected 135 cases of uterine fibromyomas operated on out of a total of 260 cases of gynaecological pathologies, i.e.?a frequency of 51.92%.?Nulliparous women were the most concerned (45.18%), and women who attended school (60%) and those who did not attend school (40%). Women at home and housewives accounted for 42.20% and 54.07% respectively. Clinically, the circumstances of discovery were dominated by menometrorrhagia and menorrhagia respectively 77.77% and 68.14%. The large uterus was the most frequent physical sign found in 96.29% of cases. Uterine fibromyomas were recorded in 86.6% of cases in women with genital activity. The operative indications were dominated by the large polymyomatous uterus (64.44%), followed by hemorrhagic fibroma (18.52%).?The surgical treatment was conservative in 92.60%. The total hysterectomy performed in 7.40.?Lethality was 1.4%.?Conclusion: The surgical management of fibroids contrasts conservative treatment (myomectomy) with radical treatment (hysterectomy) with multiple possible approaches (hysteroscopy, vaginal surgery, laparoscopy or laparotomy). Profiles of Major Cognitive Disorders in Elderly People followed at the Geriatric Clinic of fann National University Hospital in Senegal

Introduction: The aging of the world’s population is accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of chronic pathologies, including major neurognitive disorders (MNCD), which are a true global public health problem. The aim of this study was to update the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of MNCD in elderly subjects in the first geriatric university department in Senegal and the sub-region. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective and descriptive study from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. It concerned subjects aged 65 years and over received in the department with MNCD diagnosed by using the Senegal test and the IADL score of Lawton. Results: Out of a total of 510 patients, major cognitive impairment was diagnosed in 61, representing a prevalence of (11.9%). The mean age was 70 years ±7 (extremes 65 - 98 years), with a male predominance (52%), (sex ratio 1.1). Sixty-four percent (64.10%) of the subjects were married, (25%) illiterated, (93.44%) lived with their families and fifty percent (50.81%) were well cared for. Antecedents and comorbidities included arterial hypertension (59.02%). Neurocognitive manifestations were dominated by memory disorders (62.30%), followed by anxiety and/or hallucinations (52.45%). MNCD were severe in (63.93%). The etiologies of CMND were dominated by Alzheimer’s disease (46%), followed by vascular causes (31%). Geriatric syndromes associated with dementia were dominated by loss of autonomy (88.52%) and frailty (65.57%). Memantine was the most prescribed anti-dementia treatment (72.13%). Psychosocial care in the form of home assistance was provided in 88.52% of cases. Conclusion: The prevalence of MNCD remains high compared to data from the African region. This indicates the importance of organizing the management of cases with serious consequences for caregivers. The etiologies remain dominated by Alzheimer’s disease and vascular MNCD.

Unusual head trauma is rare with various mechanisms of occurrence. The injuries can be similar to those of road accidents but sometimes with significant complexities. The objective was to determine the frequency of this pathology in our practice, describe the different mechanisms and report the craniocerebral lesions caused by this type of trauma. Materials and Method: This was a descriptive study with retrospective collection spread over a period of 3 years. After selecting the files, the patients and/or their companions were contacted by telephone to inquire about them and then returned to the consultation for reassessment. Disease history and information were obtained from patients’ medical records. Result: The frequency of this pathology was 1.78% and his incidence was 0.4 cases per month. The average age of the patients was 13.47 years. All the victims were male. 41.17% of patients were in school. The mechanisms of trauma were the hoof blow 47.1%, the horn blow 29.4% and the stone blow 11.7% respectively. 23.5% of patients were confused and 11.7% children were in coma. One patient presented an anisocoria. The motor deficit was present in 5 cases. CT-scan made it possible to highlight a skull depressing fracture 58.8% and confirm a craniocerebral wound in 35.3%. The average time between patient admission to hospital and completion of surgery was 24.5 hours. The surgery had consisted of the trimming of cranio-cerebral wounds, exploration, duroplasty and lifting of skull depressing fracture. After 15 months of follow-up, the evolution was favorable in 53.3%, the morbidity was 33.4% and the mortality 17.6%. Conclusion: These are rare but serious conditions because they are fatal and disabling. An early and multidisciplinary management can hope to have a good favorable.

Summary: Estimate the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia according to socio-demographic parameters and the type of lesions histological. Methodology: This was a retrospective, and 15-year descriptive study from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2014 conducted at the Department of Anatomy and Pathological Cytology of the National Hospital Donka in collaboration with the obstetric gynecology departments of the Conakry University Hospital. Results: We collected 296 cases of malignant and benign endometrial hyperplasia in 15 years, accounting for 37% of all endometrial biopsy curettages examined. The age group 47 to 56 years was the most affected (81 cases) or 27, 36%. The mean age was 53.6 years with extremes of 27 and 83 years. Metrorrhagia was the main reason for consultation (206 cases), i.e. 69.59%. The suspicion of endometrial hyperplasia by physicians was the most frequently diagnosed circumstance (149 cases) or 50.33%. biopsy curettage was the most frequently used method (176 cases), is 59.45%. Histological endometrial lesions of atypical complex adenomatous hyperplasia (79 cases) represented 26.69%. benign behavior was most frequently observed in (235 cases) or 79.39%. Conclusion: Endometrial hyperplasia is an endometrial lesion whose atypical histological types represent the borderline lesions between benignity and malignancy.

b>Introduction:b> Very little information is available in Guinea on chronic hepatitis B infections. The objective of this study was to describe the epidemiological, clinical and biological features of patients who are chronic carriers of the hepatitis B virus. b>Patients and Methods:b> This is a retrospective study carried out from January 2017 to May 2020, based on the medical records of patients seen via consultation or hospitalized with a record of positive HBs antigen for more than 6 months. Clinical and paraclinical data were collected and analyzed. b>Results:b> Seven hundred and sixteen patients with a mean age of 35.6 ± 12.2 (sex ratio 2.05), were included. The HBs antigen was discovered incidentally in 36% of cases (n = 258). A history of dental care and surgical procedures was found in 46.3% (n = 290) and 21.1% (n = 138) of cases, respectively. The median value of ALAT enzymes was 34 (21 - 47) IU/L. HBeAg was positive in 20.8% (n = 55/265) of cases. The median B viral load was 458.5 (87 - 3827) IU/ml and 29% (n = 94) of patients had a viral load over 2000 IU/ml. Anti-HCV antibody was present in 10.4 % of cases (n = 39/374). HIV serology was positive in 2.7% (n = 8/298). A total of 19.4% (n = 139) of the patients had cirrhosis and 4.5% (n = 32) had hepatocellular carcinoma. b>Conclusion:b> font-family:Verdana

Introduction: The therapeutic pathway affects the patient who changes care facilities. This change is linked to factors such as financial means, geographical accessibility of care facilities, quality of care and the socio-cultural perception of the patient. In countries with limited resources such as Guinea, the therapeutic itinerary remains multiple and hampered by obstacles. The objective of this study was to describe the therapeutic itinerary of patients living with hepatitis b and C at the Donka National Hospital. Material and methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive study lasting 43 months (24 January 2017 - 27 August 2020);it focused on patients living with hepatitis b or C or viral cirrhosis. We collected sociodemographic, clinical and treatment history variables. The data were analysed with SPSS software version 21.0. Results: Out of 5400 patients, the proportion of viral hepatitis b or C represented 393 patients (7.3%). The mean age of our patients was 35 ± 10 years, with extremes of 16 - 77 years. The sex ratio was 2.5. Three hundred and forty-two patients (87%) had recourse to modern medicine, mostly in private facilities (50.6%). One hundred and twenty-five patients (31.8%) had received previous treatment, half of whom (57.6%) had received inappropriate treatment. The delay in treatment was long in 45% of cases. The main reasons for delaying treatment were feeling unwell in 33.3%;not knowing to consult a specialist in 29.9% and feeling that they were being treated with useful drugs in 24.3%. Conclusion: The lack of training of general practitioners on the management of viral hepatitis and the scarcity of awareness campaigns on viral hepatitis contributed to the inadequacy of the management.

Background: A healthy diet is essential for optimal diabetes management. However, dietary habits vary from one region to another, making it challenging to standardize practices. Objective: To describe the diet habits of patients living with diabetes in Guinea. Methods: We conducted a dietary habits survey among 102 patients living with diabetes followed-up at the University Hospital of Conakry in Guinea between January and March 2012. Data were collected by individual interview on the basis of a three-item questionnaire: diabetes data, diet mode, and food composition. Results: In total, 85% of patients were consuming 3 meals daily;13.7% had a collation and 25% had snacking habits. The meal was individual in 82.4% and collective in 17.6% of patients. The main foods consumed daily were: rice (93.1%), fish (93.1%), palm oil (91.1%), bread (87.2%). Foods consumed regularly (2 to 3 times a week) were: meat (49%), eggs (23.5%), dairy products (34.3%), fruit (43.1%), vegetables (40.2%) and peanut oil (21.5%). The food bans reported were: regular sugar (100%), sodas (62.7%), peanuts (84.3%) and sweetened fruits (55.8%). Conclusion: Combining dietary recommendations and dietary habits is essential for appropriate management of diabetic patients. The assessment of local food glycemic indexes and the training of dietitians remains a challenge in our context.
