It has been f.und in recent years that using setpoint temperatures based on adaptive thermal comf.rt models is a successf.l method of.energy *** studies using adaptive setpoint temperatures incorporate international models f.om AsHRAE standard 55 and *** study,however,has instead considered a regional Brazilian adaptive comf.rt *** study investigates the energy demand arising f.om the use of.a local Brazilian comf.rt model in order to assess the energy implications f.om the use of.the worldwide AsHRAE standard 55 adaptive model and various f.xed setpoint *** of.Brazil’s climate zones,f.ll air-conditioning,mixed-mode building operating modes,present-day climate change scenarios,and f.ture scenarios—specif.cally Representative Concentration Pathways(RCP)2.6,4.5,and 8.5 f.r the years 2050 and 2100—have all been taken into account in building energy *** use of.adaptive setpoint temperatures based on the Brazilian local model considering mixed-mode has been f.und to signif.cantly reduce energy consumption when compared to static setpoint temperatures(average energy-saving values ranging f.om 52%to 58%)and the AsHRAE 55 adaptive model(average values ranging f.om 15%to 21%).Considering climate change and the mixed-mode Brazilian model,the overall energy demand f.r the three groups of.climatic zones(annual average outdoor temperatures≤21℃,>21 and≤25℃and>25℃)ranged between 2%decrease and 5%increase,4%and 27%increase,and 13%and 45%increase,*** is concluded as a consequence that setting setpoint temperatures based on the Brazilian local adaptive comf.rt model is a very ef.icient energy-saving method.

The climatic variability hypothesis(CVH)predicts that organisms in more thermally variable environments have wider thermal breadths and higher thermal plasticity than those f.om more stable ***,due to evolutionary trade-of.s,taxa with greater absolute thermal limits may have little plasticity of.such limits(trade-of. hypothesis).The CVH assumes that climatic variability is the ultimate driver of.thermal tolerance variation across latitudinal and altitudinal gradients,but average temperature also varies along such *** explored intraspecif.c variation of.thermal tolerance in three typical Mediterranean saline water beetles(f.milies Hydrophilidae and Dytiscidae).f.r each species,we compared two populations where the species coexist,with similar annual mean temperature but contrasting thermal variability(continental *** population).We estimated thermal limits of.adults f.om each population,previously acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We f.und species-specif.c patterns but overall,our results agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges,which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid species,this came at the cost of.losing plasticity of.the upper thermal limit in this population,supporting the trade-of. hypothesis,but not in the dytiscid *** results support the role of.local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-of.s between basal tolerance and physiological plasticity in shaping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms,but also suggest that intraspecif.c variation of.thermal tolerance does not f.t a general pattern among aquatic *** such intraspecif.c variation could lead to inaccurate predictions of.the vulnerability of.aquatic insects to global warming.

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zhang et al entitled Development of.a machine learning-based model f.r predicting the risk of.early postoperative recurrence of.hepatocellular *** carcinoma(HCC),which is characterized by high incidence and mortality rates,remains a major global health challenge primarily due to the critical issue of.postoperative *** recurrence,def.ned as recurrence that occurs within 2 years posttreatment,is linked to the hidden spread of.the primary tumor and signif.cantly impacts patient *** predictive f.ctors,including both patient-and treatment-related f.ctors,have limited predictive ability with respect to HCC *** integration of.machine learning algorithms is f.eled by the exponential growth of.computational power and has revolutionized HCC *** study by Zhang et al demonstrated the use of.a groundbreaking preoperative prediction model f.r early postoperative HCC *** persist,including sample size constraints,issues with handling data,and the need f.r f.rther validation and *** study emphasizes the need f.r collaborative ef.orts,multicenter studies and comparative analyses to validate and ref.ne the *** these challenges and exploring innovative approaches,such as multi-omics integration,will enhance personalized oncology *** study marks a signif.cant stride toward precise,ef.icient,and personalized oncology practices,thus of.ering hope f.r improved patient outcomes in the f.eld of.HCC treatment.

Enhanced recovery af.er surgery(ERAs)programs have been widely applied in liver surgery since the publication of.the f.rst ERAs guidelines in 2016 and the new recommendations in *** surgery is usually perf.rmed in oncological patients(liver metastasis,hepatocellular carcinoma,cholangiocarcinoma,etc.),but the real impact of.liver surgery ERAs programs in oncological outcomes is not clearly *** advantages of.ERAs programs are:ERAs decreases postoperative complication rates and has been demonstrated a clear relationship between complications and oncological outcomes;a better and f.ster posto-perative recovery should let oncologic teams begin chemotherapeutic regimens on time;prehabilitation and nutrition actions bef.re surgery should also improve the perf.rmance status of.the patients receiving ***,ERAs could be another way to improve our oncological *** will discuss the literature about liver surgery ERAs f.cusing on its oncological implications and f.ture investigations projects.

Neuropathic pain is a severe and chronic condition widely f.und in the general *** reason f.r this is the extensive variety of.damage or diseases that can spark this unpleasant constant f.eling in *** the processing of.pain,the dorsal root ganglia constitute an important region where dorsal root ganglion neurons play a crucial role in the transmission and propagation of.sensory electrical ***,the dorsal root ganglia have recently exhibited a regenerative capacity that should not be neglected in the understanding of.the development and resolution of.neuropathic pain and in the elucidation of.innovative ***,we will review the complex interplay between cells(satellite glial cells and inf.ammatory cells)and f.ctors(cytokines,neurotrophic f.ctors and genetic f.ctors)that takes place within the dorsal root ganglia and accounts f.r the generation of.the aberrant excitation of.primary sensory neurons occurring in neuropathic *** importantly,we will summarize an updated view of.the current pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapies targeting the dorsal root ganglia f.r the treatment of.neuropathic pain.

Only a causal class among the 199 Lorentzian ones, which do not exists in the Newtonian space-time, is privileged to construct a generic, gravity f.ee and immediate (non retarded) relativistic positioning system. This is the causal class of.the null emission coordinates. Emission coordinates are def.ned and generated by f.ur emitters broadcasting their proper times. The emission coordinates are covariant (f.ame independent) and hence valid f.r any user. Any observer can obtain the values of.his (her) null emission coordinates f.om the emitters which provide him his (her) position and trajectory.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a high mortality neoplasm which usually appears on a cirrhotic *** therapeutic arsenal and subsequent prognostic outlook are intrinsically linked to the HCC stage at *** the current deployment of.treatments with curative intent(liver resection/local ablation and liver transplantation)in early and intermediate stages,a high rate of.HCC recurrence persists,underscoring a pivotal clinical *** systemic therapies(sT),particularly immunotherapy,have demonstrate promising outcomes in terms of.increase overall survival,but they are currently bound to the advanced stage of.*** review provides a comprehensive analysis of.the literature,encompassing studies up to March 10,2024,evaluating the impact of.novel sT in the early and intermediate HCC stages,specially f.cusing on the f.ndings of.neoadjuvant and adjuvant regimens,aimed at increasing signif.cantly overall survival and recurrence-f.ee survival af.er a treatment with curative *** also investigate the potential role of.sT in enhancing the downstaging rate f.r the intermediate-stage HCC initially deemed ineligible f.r treatment with curative ***,we critically discuss about the current relevance of.the results of.these studies and the encouraging f.ture implications of.sT in the treatment schedules of.early and intermediate HCC stages.
