The Use of.Insulin Negatively Impacts the Mortality of.Severe COVID-19 in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes—A Systematic Review

Obesity and type 2 diabetes are among the most important risk f.ctors f.r severe coronavirus disease-19. Some studies have suggested that the use of.insulin as a therapeutic agent to treat hyperglycemia and the metabolic abnormalities associated with type 2 diabetes during the acute phase of.severe coronavirus disease-19 could have a negative impact on the disease’s progression;however, there is no consensus on this issue. Here, we perf.rmed a systematic review in an attempt to answer this important question. We included 29 articles published f.om December 2019 to August 2023, which reported the outcomes of.3,070,657 patients with severe coronavirus disease-19 that had the diagnosis of.diabetes and were treated with either insulin or other glucose-reducing agents. The results show that using insulin as a pharmacological intervention to treat type 2 diabetes in patients with severe coronavirus disease-19 increases the likelihood of.mortality by 193%.

The induction generator ef.ect(IGE)and the openloop modal proximity(OLMP)are two dif.erent reasons why subsynchronous oscillations(SSOs)in a series-compensated power system(SCPS)may *** IGE attributes the growing SSOs to negative resistance,while the OLMP explains the SSO mechanism f.om the standpoint of.modal *** this paper,we investigate the connections between the IGE and the OLMP through equivalent RLC circuit and open-loop modal *** investigation is conducted f.r two types of.seriescompensated power systems where either a synchronous generator or a Df.G is connected at the sending *** investigation reveals the conditions,in which the IGE and the OLMP may jointly cause the growing SSOs,i.e.,both the IGE and the OLMP can explain why the growing SSOs ***,the investigation indicates that the IGE and the OLMP may be totally irrelevant and lead to growing SSOs *** implies that it is possible that in a SCPS,the growing SSOs are only due to the IGE,and the OLMP is non-existent,and vice ***,when the growing SSOs occurs in a SCPS,examination based on both the IGE and the OLMP should be caref.lly conducted in order to f.nd if.the oscillatory instability is due to the IGE,or the OLMP,or both of.them.

This paper describes a new model f.r obtaining analytical solutions of.peristaltic f.ow through eccentric annuli. A mathematical model of.peristaltic pumping of.a f.uid mixture （as blood model） in a circular eccentric cylinders is presented and it is motivated due to the f.ct that thread injection is a promising method f.r placing medical implants within the human body with minimum surgical trauma. f.r the eccentric annuli, the inner cylinder is rigid and moving with a constant velocity V, and the outer one is hollow f.exible cylinder that has a sinusoidal wave traveling down its wall. The coupled dif.erential equations f.r both the f.uid and the particle phases have been solved by using two methods and the expressions f.r the velocity distribution of.f.uid and particle phase, f.ow rate, pressure drop, f.iction f.rces at the inner and outer cylinders have been derived. The results obtained are discussed in brief. The signif.cance of.the particle concentration and the eccentricity parameter as well as the nature of.the basic f.ow has been well explained.

Quantum physics rules the dynamics of.small objects as they interact over microscopic length ***,quantum correlations involving macroscopic distances can be observed between entangled photons as well as in atomic gases and matter waves at low *** long-range nature of.the electromagnetic coupling between charged particles and extended objects could also trigger quantum phenomena over large ***,we reveal a manif.station of.quantum mechanics that involves macroscopic distances and results in a nearly complete depletion of.coherence associated with which-way f.ee-electron interf.rence produced by electron-radiation coupling in the presence of.distant extended *** is a ubiquitous ef.ect that we illustrate through a rigorous theoretical analysis of.a two-path electron beam interacting with a semi-inf.nite metallic plate and f.nd the inter-path coherence to vanish proportionally to the path separation at zero temperature and exponentially at f.nite *** investigated regime of.large distances originates in the coupling of.the electron to radiative modes assisted by dif.raction at material structures but without any involvement of.material *** the f.ndamental interest of.this macroscopic quantum phenomenon,our results suggest an approach to measuring the vacuum temperature and nondestructively sensing the presence of.distant objects.

The purpose of.this paper is to make a contribution to the use of.diatomite as a mineral additive in the composition of.compressed earth blocks. The aim is to study the inf.uence of.diatomite on the hygrothermal behaviour of.composites based on clay soils. f.r this reason, two clay soils with dif.erent physicochemical and mineralogical compositions were incorporated with diatomite at percentages ranging f.om 5% to 50% with a step of.5 to produce compressed earth blocks. Af.er assessing the hydric and thermal characteristics of.the composites, it was f.und that the incorporation of.diatomite into the clay matrix f.vours the absorption of.water by capillary action f.r all the composites. The diatomite-amended blocks subjected to the rain erosion test were less eroded than the unamended blocks. In addition, BYD composites were f.und to be more resistant than BTD composites, due to the high percentage of.clay in T soil. The thermal conductivity of.the latter decreases respectively f.om 0.72 to 0.29 W/m∙K f.r BTD composites and f.om 0.52 to 0.21 W/m∙K f.r BYD composites. This reduction proves the thermal insulating properties of.diatomite. Despite the high capillary absorption capacity of.these composites, they have good thermal properties, enabling them to be used in the construction of.buildings f.r improved indoor thermal comf.rt.

Background:f.ilure to rescue has been an ef.ective quality metric in congenital heart ***,mor-bidity and mortality depend greatly on non-modif.able individual f.ctors and have a weak correlation with better-quality *** aim to measure the complications,mortality,and risk f.ctors in pediatric patients undergoing congenital heart surgery in a high-complexity institution located in a middle-income country and compare it with other institutions that have conducted a similar ***:A retrospective observational study was conducted in a high-complexity service provider institution,in Cali,*** pediatric patients undergoing any congenital heart surgery between 2019 and 2022 were *** main outcomes evaluated in the study were complication,mortality,and f.ilure to rescue *** and multivariate logistic regression analysis was perf.rmed with mortality as the outcome ***:We evaluated 308 congenital heart *** the outcomes,201(65%)complications occurred,23(7.5%)patients died,and the f.R of.the entire cohort was 11.4%.The presence of.a postoperative complication(OR 14.88,CI 3.06–268.37,p=0.009),age(OR 0.79,CI 0.57–0.96,p=0.068),and urgent/emergent surgery(OR 8.14,CI 2.97–28.66,pf.cant variables in predicting ***:f.ilure to rescue is an ef.ective and comparable quality measure in healthcare institutions and is the major contributor to postoperative mortality in congenital heart *** our higher mortality and complication rate,we obtained a comparable f.ilure to rescue rate to high-income countries’health institutions.
