Intermodal f.ur-wave mixing(f.m)processes have recently attracted signif.cant interest f.r all-optical signal processing applications thanks to the possibility to control the propagation properties of.waves exciting distinct spatial modes of.the same *** allows,in principle,to place signals in dif.erent spectral regions and satisf. the phase matching condition over considerably larger bandwidths compared to intramodal ***,the demonstrations reported so f.r have shown a limited bandwidth and suf.ered f.om the lack of.on-chip components designed f.r broadband manipulation of.dif.erent *** demonstrate here a silicon-rich silicon nitride wavelength converter based on Bragg scattering intermodal f.m,which integrates mode conversion,multiplexing and de-multiplexing f.nctionalities *** system enables wavelength conversion between pump waves and a signal located in dif.erent telecommunication bands(separated by 60 nm)with a 3 dB bandwidth exceeding 70 nm,which represents,to our knowledge,the widest bandwidth ever achieved in an intermodal f.m-based system.

Analysis of.the hydrological saf.ty of.dams combining two numerical tools:Iber and DualSPHysics

The upgrade of.the hydrological saf.ty of.dams is a critical issue to avoid f.ilures that can dramatically af.ect people and assets. This paper shows a numerical methodology to analyse the saf.ty of.the Belesar dam（NW, Spain） based on two dif.erent numerical codes. f.rst, a mesh-based code named Iber, suited to deal with large 2-D domains, is used to simulate the impoundment. The initial conditions and the inlet provided to Iber correspond to the maximum water elevation and the maximum expected inf.ow to the impoundment def.ned in the technical specif.cations of.the dam, which are associated to the more hazardous operation conditions of.the dam. Iber provides inf.rmation about the time needed f.r water to attain the crest of.the dam when f.oodgates are closed. In addition, it also provides the velocity of.discharge when gates are opened. Then, a mesh-f.ee code named DualSPHysics, which is especially suited to deal with complex and violent 3-D f.ows, is used to reproduce the behaviour of.one of.the spillways of.the dam starting f.om the results obtained with Iber, which are used as inlet conditions f.r DualSPHysics. The combined results of.both model show that the lef. spillway can discharge the surplus of.water associated to the maximum inf.ow to the reservoir if.the gates of.the spillways are opened bef.re the overtopping of.the dam was observed. In addition, water depth measured on the spillway is considerably lower than the lateral walls, preventing overtopping. f.nally, velocities at dif.erent points of.the spillway showed to be in good agreement with theoretical values.

Home Energy management Systems(HEmS)are increasingly relevant f.r demand-side management at the residential level by collecting data(energy,weather,electricity prices)and controlling home appliances or storage *** control can be perf.rmed with classical models that f.nd optimal solutions,with high real-time computational cost,or data-driven approaches,like Reinf.rcement Learning,that f.nd good and f.exible solutions,but depend on the availability of.load and generation data and demand high computational resources f.r *** this work,a novel HEmS is proposed f.r the optimization of.an electric battery operation in a real,online and data-driven environment that integrates state-of.the-art load f.recasting combining CNN and LSTm neural networks to increase the robustness of.*** Reinf.rcement Learning agents are trained with dif.erent algorithms(Double DQN,Dueling DQN,Rainbow and Proximal Policy Optimization)in order to minimize the cost of.electricity purchase and to maximize photovoltaic self.consumption f.r a PV-Battery residential *** show that the best Reinf.rcement Learning agent achieves a 35%reduction in total cost when compared with an optimization-based agent.

managing documentation in a suitable way has become a critical issue f.r any organization. Organizations depend on the inf.rmation?they store and they are required to have appropriate mechanisms to support the f.nctional needs of.inf.rmation storage, management and retrieval. Currently, there are several tools in the market, both f.ee sof.ware and proprietary license, normally named Enterprise Content management (ECm) tools, which of.er relevant solutions in this context. This paper presents a comparative study among several of.the most commonly used ECm tools. It starts with a systematic review of.the literature to analyze possible solutions and then it def.nes a characterization schema instantiated in a particular case, the Regional Government of.Andalusia.

The tremendous potential of.triboelectric generators-TENGs f.r converting mechanical energy into electrical energy places them as one of.the most promising energy harvesting technologies. In this work, the f.brication of.enhanced perf.rmance TENGs using Ag octahedron nano-assemblies on ITO as electrodes signif.cantly increases the electric charge collection of.the induced tribocharges. Thereby, nanostructured electrical contacts coated with Ag macroscale nano-assemblies with octahedral f.atures were obtained by the electrodeposition technique on f.exible PET/ITO substrates. Consequently, the nanostructured triboelectric generator-TENG exhibited 65 times more maximum output power, and almost 10 times more open circuit output voltage than that of.a TENG with non-nanostructured contacts passing f.om μW to m W capabilities, which was attributed to the increment of.intrinsic interf.ce states due to a higher ef.ective contact area in the f.rmer. Likewise, output perf.rmances of.TENGs also displayed an asymptotic behavior on the output voltage as the operating f.equency of.the mechanical oscillations increased, which is attributed to a decrement in the internal impedance of.the device with f.equency. f.rthermore, it is shown that the resulting electrical output power can successf.lly drive low power consumption electronic devices. On that account, the present research establishes a promising platf.rm which contributes in an original way to the development of.the TENGs technology.

In this paper we introduce a simple procedure f.r computing the macroscopic quantum behaviour of.periodic quantum systems in the high energy regime. The macroscopic quantum coherence is ascribed to a one-particle state, not to a condensate of.a many-particle system;and we are ref.rring to a system of.high energy but with f.w degrees of.f.eedom. We show that, in the f.rst order of.approximation, the quantum probability distributions converge to its classical counterparts in a clear f.shion, and that the interf.rence ef.ects are strongly suppressed. The harmonic oscillator provides a testing ground f.r these ideas and yields excellent results.

Carbon nanomaterials of.er excellent prospects as therapeutic agents,and among them,graphene quantum dots(GQDs)have gained considerable interest thanks to their aqueous solubility and intrinsic f.uorescence,which enable their possible use in theranostic approaches,if.their biocompatibility and f.vorable pharmacokinetic are *** prepared ultra-small GQDs using an alternative,reproducible,top-down synthesis starting f.om graphene oxide with a nearly 100%*** materials were tested to assess their saf.ty,demonstrating good biocompatibility and ability in passing the ultraf.ltration barrier using an in vitro *** leads to renal excretion without af.ecting the ***,we studied the GQDs in vivo biodistribution conf.rming their ef.icient renal clearance,and we demonstrated that the internalization mechanism into podocytes is ***,considering the reported characteristics,it appears possible to vehiculate compounds to kidneys by means of.GQDs,overcoming problems related to lysosomal degradation.

Human-induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)are an accessible source of.adult-derived,patient-specif.c pluripotent stem cells f.r use in basic research,drug discovery,disease modeling,and stem cell *** the accessibility of.methods to obtain iPSCs regardless of.the cell source can enhance their clinical ***,our purpose is to report a simple protocol to obtain iPS-like cells f.om urine-derived renal epithelial cells(RECs)using dif.erent extracellular matrices and transf.ction *** this study,we began by culturing urine-derived cells f.om healthy donors to establish a primary culture of.renal epithelial cells,f.llowed by their ***,we generated iPS-like cells by transf.cting renal epithelial cells(RECs)with vectors expressing Oct4,Sox2,L-myc,Lin-28,and Klf.,and we compared the ef.icacy of.dif.erent extracellular matrices and transf.ction *** resultant iPS-like cells showed a human embryonic stem cell-like morphology and expressed the specif.c pluripotency markers Oct3/4,Nanog,Lin28,and *** concluded that Lipof.ctamine Stem Cell transf.ction reagent is more ef.ective than f.GENE in obtaining iPS-like cells under the conditions ***,the three matrices are similar in their ef.iciency of.obtaining iPS-like *** report provides an experimental protocol f.r obtaining and generating iPS-like cells f.om urine samples f.r f.rther cell therapy research on dif.erent human diseases.

Evaluation of.Water Quality Index in Lerma River Upper Basin

The Lerma River Upper Basin is located between Almoloya del Rio shallow lakes and Atlacomulco municipality in the State of.mexico;is a natural resource essential to human activities in its surroundings and serves as a source of.electricity and drinking water f.r mexico City. However, this river is threatened by over-exploitation of.its aquif.rs, disappearance of.many of.its wellsprings and uncontrolled discharges of.wastewater f.om all sorts. Thus, the aim of.this work was to evaluate the water quality in the Upper Lerma River Basin using WQI proposed by the NSf.and compare these results with those obtained by the National Water Commission of.mexico (CNA). WQI was calculated using seven parameters: dissolved oxygen, pH, DOB5, temperature change, total phosphates, nitrates, and total solids obtained in f.ur dif.erent sampling campaigns carried out in 2005, 2006 and 2012. The results showed that water quality in the Upper Lerma River is bad, mainly associated with high levels of.BOD5, nitrates and phosphates f.und. The results obtained with WQI yielded the same diagnosis that the studies carried out by the CNA, in which water quality was unacceptable. It is worth noting that there is a signif.cant water quality deterioration in the Upper Lerma River Basin with the course of.the years, because in 2012 were observed the lower index values regarding 2005 and 2006, so it is imperative to implement measures to restore and preserve the water quality of.this important river.
