The purpose of.this investigation was to examine the ef.ect of.an acute b.ut of.aerob.c exercise （AE） and resistance exercise （RE） on b.dy composition measured b. multi-f.equency b.oelectrical impedance analysis （Mb.A） in adults. Ninety-f.ve recreationally active young adults （46 women and 49 men） reported f.r testing on three occasions. Af.er an initial Mb.A assessment, sub.8}cts perf.rmed 45 minutes of.continuous AE, RE, or did nothing, which served as the control （CoN）. During the AE trial, sub.8}cts perf.rmed an acute b.ut of.treadmill exercise at 60%-75% of.their age predicted maximal heart rate （APHRmax）. The RE trial consisted of.an 8-exercise circuit consisting of. 3 sets of.10-12 repetitions at 65%-75% of.their one-repetition max （1RM） f.r each exercise. During the CoN trial, sub.8}cts sat quietly in the lab.ratory. b.dy composition was reassessed immediately f.llowing the exercise b.uts f.r comparison. Mean percent b.dy f.t （%b.0} decreased f.llowing the exercise b.uts （AE = 0.7%, RE = 1.6%; P 〈 0.001） likely due to signif.cant （P 〈 0.001） reductions in impedance （AE： 40Ω, 32Ω, and 29Ω; RE： 4592, 29Ω, and 28Ω） measured at 5, 50 and 500 kHz. Conversely, signif.cant increases in %b.0}（0.7%, P 〈 0.05）, b.dy mass （0.2 kg, P 〈 0.001）, and impedance at 5 and 50 kHz （15Ω and 16Ω; P 〈0.001） were ob.erved f.llowing the CoN trial. These f.ndings support that Mb.A assessments should b. perf.rmed prior to exercise in order to prevent exercise-induced reductions in %b.0}values.

背景:单孔分体内镜作为一种新型的内镜技术,适用于治疗极外侧腰椎间盘突出症。但目前国内外针对L_(5)/S_(1)这一发病率极低的极外侧腰椎间盘突出症的研究资料甚少,尚无详尽描述单孔分体内镜治疗L_(5)/S_(1)极外侧腰椎间盘突出症的影像解剖学资料。目的:通过影像三维重建确定骨性标志点,并以该标志点准确定位L_(5)出口神经根、L_(5)/S_(1)椎间隙及其他结构之间的位置关系,辅助单孔分体内镜经后外侧入路实现对L_(5)出口神经根的减压,治疗L_(5)/S_(1)极外侧腰椎间盘突出症。方法:选择符合纳入标准的29例L_(5)/S_(1)单侧极外侧腰椎间盘突出症患者,其中男12例,女17例;年龄48-74岁。将患者的腰椎CT数据资料导入Mimics 21.0软件中重建腰椎三维模型。测量L_(5)/S_(1)相关参数:①在横突根部下缘与峡部外侧缘的交点(H)所在矢状面上测量:H分别至L_(5)出口神经根上缘、下缘的垂直距离(a1,a2);H分别至L_(5)下终板、S1上终板的垂直距离(b.,b.);H至L_(5)椎弓根下缘的垂直距离(c);②H至L_(5)椎弓根内侧壁所在矢状面的左右水平距离(d);③H至硬脊膜外侧缘所在矢状面的左右水平距离(e);④H至L_(5)下终板最外侧缘所在矢状面的左右水平距离(f.;⑤在L_(5)下终板最外侧缘所在矢状面上测量:H所在横断面分别至L_(5)出口神经根上缘、下缘的垂直距离(g1,g2);H所在横断面分别至L_(5)下终板、S1上终板的垂直距离(h1,h2);⑥H至L_(5)出口神经根最后缘所在冠状面的前后水平距离(i);⑦骶骨翼后缘最高点至L_(5)下终板最后缘所在冠状面的前后水平距离(j.。结果与结论:①男女之间各相关测量参数相比差异无显著性意义(P>0.05);②a1,a2,b.,b.,c,d,e,f.h1,h2,g1,g2,i,j.侧与健侧相比差异无显著性意义(P>0.05);③观测发现,a1与c之间相比差异无显著性意义(P>0.05),表明椎弓根下缘即为L_(5)出口神经根上缘,L_(5)出口神经根紧贴椎弓根下缘并经L_(5)椎体后方向前外侧走行,H均位于L_(5)出口神经根上方;④以H作为骨性标志点,无需向上探查,无需磨除峡部,只需向下、向外侧磨除部分骨质显露L_(5)出口神经根与椎间隙,向内侧有足够的安全距离避免损伤硬脊膜来完成侧隐窝、椎间孔区域的探查减压;⑤术者可在H、L_(5)下终板最外侧缘所在的矢状面及L_(5)横突与骶骨翼构成的“矩形区域”内进行操作,越靠近内下方区域(Kamb.n三角)越安全;⑥提示单孔分体内镜经后外侧入路治疗L_(5)/S_(1)极外侧腰椎间盘突出症,在镜下以H作为骨性标志点定位L_(5)出口神经根及椎间隙,能实现对L_(5)出口神经根的精准、安全、有效减压。

Leakage currents, tiny currents f.owing f.om an everyday-lif. appliance through the b.dy to the ground, can cause a non-adequate perception （called electrocutaneous sensation, ECS） or even pain and should b. avoided. saf.ty standards f.r low-f.equency range are b.sed on experimental results of.current thresholds of.electrocutaneous sensations, which however show a wide range b.tween ab.ut 50 pa （rms） and 1000 μA （rms）. In order to b. ab.e to explain these dif.erences, the perception threshold was measured repeatedly in experiments with test persons under identical experimental setup, b.t b. means of.dif.erent methods （measuring strategies）, namely： direct adj.stment, classical threshold as amperage of.50% perception prob.b.lity, and conf.dence rating procedure of.signal detection theory. The current is inj.cted using a I cm2 electrode at the highly touch sensitive part of.the index f.ngertip. These investigations show f.r the f.rst time that the threshold of.electrocutaneous sensations is inf.uenced b.th b. adaptation to the non-adequate stimulus and individual, emotional f.ctors. Theretb.e, classical methods, on which the maj.rity of.the saf.ty investigations are b.sed, cannot b. used to determine a leakage current threshold. The conf.dence rating procedure of.the modem signal detection theory yields a value of.179.5 μA （rms） at 50 Hz power supply net f.equency as the lower end of.the 95% conf.dence range considering the variance in the investigated group. This value is expected to b. f.ee of.adaptation inf.uences, and is distinctly lower than the European limits and supports the stricter regulations of.Canada and Usa.

ong>Introduction:ong> The involvement of.the endothelial dysf.nction (ED) in arterial hypotension (AHPT) post of.spinal anesthesia (sa) has not b.en estab.ished. ong>ob.3}ctive: ong>To determine if.there is a relationship b.tween ED and AHPT ob.erved during the 1st 15 minutes af.er sa. ong>Population and Methods:ong> The study concerned 40 people who were to b.nef.t f.om a programmed herniorrhaphy under sa and 40 controls (sa-). The correlations b.tween mean plasma concentrations of.endothelin-1 (CmET-1, pg/ml) and Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (CmVCAM-1, pg/ml) taken f.om sa+ one hour b.f.re (H0), then 15 minutes af.er the sa (H15) and the mean arterial pression (AMP, mmHg) with heart rate (b.m) were analyzed (p ong>Results:ong> CmET-1 and CmVCAM-1 of.sa- were 1.07 and 3.34, respectively, compared to 1.12 (p = 0.735) and 3.57 (p = 0.862) in sa+ at H0 and H15. In sa+, at H15, CmET-1 was 1.13 (p = 0.823) and CmVCAM-1 was 3.57 (p = 0.257). In sa-, a negative correlation existed b.tween CmET-1 and CmVCAM-1 (r = -0.438;p = 0.005). Conversely, in sa+, whether at H0 (r = -0.31;p = 0.051) or at H15 (r = 0.024;p = 0.883), no correlation existed b.tween CmET-1 and CmVCAM-1, nor b.tween MAP and ED markers (r = 0.111;p = 0.325). ong>Conclusion: ong>These results show that there is no relationship b.tween the AHPT which occurs during the f.rst f.f.een minutes post sa, CmVCAM-1 and CmET-1. Moreover, these data suggest that ED is not involved in AHPT post sa.

The most promising strategies in tissue engineering involve the integration of.a triad of.b.omaterials, living cells, and b.ologically active molecules to engineer synthetic environments that closely mimic the healing milieu present in human tissues, and that stimulate tissue repair and regeneration. To b. clinically ef.ective, these environments must replicate, as closely as possib.e, the main characteristics of.the native extracellular matrix(ECM) on a cellular and sub.ellular scale. Photo-f.b.ication techniques have already b.en used to generate 3D environments with precise architectures and heterogeneous composition, through a multi-layer procedure involving the selective photocrosslinking reaction of.a light-sensitive prepolymer. Cells and therapeutic molecules can b. included in the initial hydrogel precursor solution, and processed into 3D constructs. Recently, photof.b.ication has also b.en explored to dynamically modulate hydrogel f.atures in real time, providing enhanced control of.cell f.te and delivery of.b.oactive compounds. This paper f.cuses on the use of.3D photo-f.b.ication techniques to produce advanced constructs f.r tissue regeneration and drug delivery applications. State-of.the-art photo-f.b.ication techniques are describ.d, with emphasis on the operating principles and b.of.b.ication strategies to create spatially controlled patterns of.cells and b.oactive f.ctors. Considering its f.st processing, spatiotemporal control, high resolution, and accuracy, photo-f.b.ication is assuming a critical role in the design of.sophisticated 3D constructs. This technology is capab.e of.providing appropriate environments f.r tissue regeneration, and regulating the spatiotemporal delivery of.therapeutics.

It is theorized that enhanced thermal heating may result f.om exposing single-walled carb.n nanotub.s （SWNTs） emb.dded in a conductive host to radiof.equency （Rf. electric f.elds. We examine the Rf.induced （13.56 MHz） heating b.haviors of.95% metallic- and semiconducting-enriched SWNTs （m-/s-SWNTs） suspended in aqueous solutions with varying NaC1 molarity （0.001 mM-1 M）. The heating ef.ects were only evident f.r host molarities b.low 1 mM （equivalent to 0.1 S/m） at which the s-SWNT heating rates dominated those of.the m-SWNTs. The heating ef.ects were localized to aligned and aggregated ＂SWNT ropes＂ -1 cm in length that f.rmed in suspension, parallel to the electric-f.eld vector, during the Rf.exposure. f.r molarities ab.ve 1 mM, no enhancements were evident, owing to the large heating ef.ects of.the b.lk ionic NaC1 suspensions, which were ob.erved in previous studies. Although larger enhancement ef.ects proportional to the host conductivity have b.en theoretically predicted f.r m-/s-SWNT suspensions, this was not ob.erved most likely b.cause of.the aggregation and screening ef.ects, which diminished the scattered electric f.eld near the m-/s-SWNTs. our research may f.rther the development of.b.tter nanoparticle heating agents f.r applications such as non-invasive Rf.induced cancer hyperthermia.

Agricultural, pharmaceutical, and other b.ologically active sub.tances are emptied or leach into waterways and groundwater, where they can dose-relatedly cause pharmacologic or toxic ef.ects on the resident or dependent animal species. Standard methods can b. used to evaluate the ef.ects of.individual sub.tances, b.t evaluation of.comb.nations of.sub.tances is more dif.icult. The mathematically rigorous method of.isob.lographic analysis was coupled with a simple in vivo inverteb.ate model. Planarians were selected b.cause they are the lowest extant species with a centralized nervous system. Neostigmine b.omide and monopotassium phosphate (KH2Po4) were selected as representative of.two types of.potential pollutants. Neostigmine b.omide and KH2Po4 individually produced dose-related lethality over a 60-minute ob.ervation period with LD50 values of.122 and 70 mM, respectively. The LD50 value of.a 1:1 comb.nation of.the two was signif.cantly dif.erent (p f.om the isob.lographic line of.additivity. We used planarians as a representative f.esh-water species and j.int-action (‘isob.lographic’) analysis to examine possib.e interaction b.tween pollutants. In the demonstrative example reported here, there was a sub.dditive interaction b.tween a 1:1 f.xed-ratio comb.nation of.neostigmine b.omide (as a representative acetylcholinesterase inhib.tor used in pesticides) and potassium phosphate (used in f.rtilizers and detergents).

The ob.0}ctive of.this study was to investigate the ef.ects of.chronic stress on the testes of.prepub.rtal and adult rats and to evaluate whether any alterations could b. reversed when stress induction is ended. Seventy-six male rats were assigned to eight groups depending on the type of.treatment （control or stressed）, the age at which stress was initiated （prepub.rtal or adult）, and the time of.evaluation （immediate or late）. Stress stimuli were applied f.r 6 weeks. Stressed prepub.rtal and adult rats evaluated immediately af.er the last stress stimulus were included in SP-I and sa-I groups, respectively. The late prepub.rtal （SP-L） and adult （sa-L） groups of.stressed rats were evaluated 6 weeks af.er the last stress stimulus. Age-matched rats were used as controls （CP-I, CA-I, CP-L, and CA-L groups）. Application of.stress stimuli to rats in the SP-I group resulted in b.dy weight and seminif.rous tub.le diameter reduction. The rats in the sa-I group also showed several f.nctional （testosterone level and sperm parameter） and morphological （testicular weight and seminif.rous tub.le diameter） reductions. The rats in the SP-L group showed increased b.dy weight and intertub.lar compartment volumetric and ab.olute densities and reduced tub.lar compartment volumetric density. The rats in the sa-L group presented only reduced sperm viab.lity. Stress stimuli promoted changes in the rats in all the study groups. The testes of.the adult rats were the most af.ected b. chronic stress. However, the stressed adult rats recovered well f.om the testicular alterations.

It is rare in the annals of.science f.r a single pub.ication to provide a def.nitive introduction to a previously unknown group of.animals. Yet this was the case with the monograph that included the initial descriptions of.an important, extinct group of.f.ssil animals： the conodonts. The pub.ication, b. Christian Heinrich pander, appeared in St Petersb.rg in 1856. The volume of.ninety-one pages, written in German and accompanied b. seven b.autif.lly executed plates, was issued b. the Imperial Academy of.Sciences as part of.a series entitled Geognostische b.schreib.ng der Russisch-b.ltischen Gouvernements.
