Hyperhomocysteinemia and Associated Biological Markers in a Congolese Population of.Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Brazzaville

The search f.r new biomarkers predictive of.type 2 diabetes currently constitutes a research avenue in Bioclinical. Total homocysteine remains a pref.rred target due to its involvement in the occurrence of.degenerative complications in type 2 diabetics. The aim of.this work was to study hyperhomocysteinemia and other biochemical markers associated with T2D in the Congolese population. This was an analytical case-control study carried out between October 2022 and October 2023. The study population consisted of.150 subjects including 100 T2D patients and 50 control subjects. The main clinical data were collected on a pre-established f.rm. Homocysteine determination was carried out by the sandwich eLISA method. The other biochemical markers were measured by colorimetric enzymatic methods. Hyperhomocysteinemia was present in 27.3% (41/150) of.the entire study population. Type 2 diabetics had a f.equency of.hyperhomocysteinemia of.36% (36/100) and control 10% (5/50) (p = 0.001). The mean hyperhomocysteinemia concentration was 31.9 μmol/l with extremes ranging f.om 18 to 103 μmol/l. Means of.biological markers between diabetics and controls showed a statistically signif.cant dif.erence (p = 0.01). The risk f.ctors associated with this HHcy were: sex (OR = 3.5), age (OR = 9.4), sedentary lif.style (OR = 3.4) and glycosylated hemoglobin (OR = 12) with a p-value espectively. Our results suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia can be considered as a predictive biomarker in the bioclinic of.Congolese type 2 diabetic patients.

Memory def.cit,which is of.en associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a challenging issue f.r *** till now,all potential drug candidates have f.iled to produce satisf. ctory ***,in the search f.r a solution,we f.und that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in visual area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of.the ventral stream and the medial temporal lobe,which is crucial f.r object recognition memory(ORM),can induce enhancement of.*** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual area V2,which is relatively unaf.ected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer s disease,produced longlasting enhancement of.ORM in young animals and prevent ORM def.cits in rodent models of.aging and Alzheimer’s ***,we f.und that the prevention of.memory def.cits was mediated through the upregulation of.neuronal arbo rization and spine density,as well as an increase in brain-derived neurotrophic f.ctor(BDNf..A knockdown of.BDNf.gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Alzheimer s disease model mice caused complete loss in the upregulation of.neuronal structural plasticity and in the prevention of.ORM *** f.ndings suggest that BDNf.mediated neuronal structural plasticity in area V2 is crucial in the prevention of.memory def.cits in RGS14414-treated rodent models of.aging and Alzheimer’s ***,our f.ndings of.RGS14414gene-mediated activation of.neuronal circuits in visual area V2 have therapeutic relevance in the treatment of.memory def.cits.

Knowledge regarding the inf.uence of.individual traits on interaction patterns in nature can help understand the topological role of.individuals within a network of.intrapopulation *** tested hypotheses on the relationships between individuals'positions within networks(specialization and centrality)of.4 populations of.the mouse opossum Gracilinanus agilis and their traits(i.e.,body length,body condition,tail length relative to body length,sex,reproductive condition,and botf.y parasitism)and also seasonal ef.ects in the Brazilian *** with lower body length,better body condition,and relatively shorter tail were more specialized(i.e.,less connected within the network).Individuals were also more specialized and less connected during the warm-wet *** relationship between individuals'position in the network and body traits,however,was independent of.*** propose that specialization may arise not only as a result of.pref.rred f.ed-ing strategies by more capable individuals(i.e.,those with better body condition and potentially prone to def.nd and access high-quality f.od resources)but alsobecause of.morphological ***/younger individuals(consequently with less experience in f.raging)and short-tailed individuals(less skilled to explore the vertical strata of.the vegetation)would f.ed only on a subset of.the available f.od resources and consequently become more ***,individuals are more specialized during the warm-wet season because of.high competition(population-dense period)and higher ecological opportunities(resource-rich period).Theref.re,our study reveals the relevance of.individual traits inshaping interactionpatternsandspecialization inpopulations.

The CNO cycle is the main source of.energy in stars more massive than our *** process def.nes the energy production,the duration of.which can be used to determine the lif.time of.massive *** cycle is an important tool f.r determining the age of.globular *** proton capture via p+^(14)N→^(15)O+γ,at energies of.astrophysical interest,is an important process in the CNO *** this project,we apply a potential model to describe both non-resonant and resonant reactions in the channels where radiative capture occurs through electric e1 *** employed the R-matrix method to describe the ongoing reactions via M1 resonant transitions,when it was not possible to correctly reproduce the experimental data using the potential *** partial components of.the astrophysical S-f.ctor are calculated f.r all possible electric and magnetic dipole transitions in ^(15)*** linear extrapolated S-f.ctor at zero energy(S(0))agrees well with earlier reported values f.r all transition types considered in this *** on the value of.the total astrophysical S-f.ctor,depending on the collision energy,we calculate the nuclear reaction rates f.r p+^(14)N→^(15)O+γ.The computed rates agree well with the results reported in the NACRe II Collaboration and most recent existing measurements.

Thermo-kinetic characteristics on stabilizing hetero-phase interf.ce of.metal matrix composites by crystal plasticity f.nite element method

Using dislocation-based constitutive modeling in three-dimension crystal plasticity f.nite element(3D CPf.)simulations,co-def.rmation and instability of.hetero-phase interf.ce in dif.erent material systems were herein studied f.r polycrystalline metal matrix composites(MMCs).Local stress and strain f.elds in two types of.3layer MMCs such as f.c/f.c Cu-Ag and f.c/bcc Cu-Nb have been predicted under simple compressive ***,more severe strain-induced interf.ce instability can be observed in the f.c/bcc systems than in the f.c/f.c systems upon ref.ning to metallic nanolayered composites(MNCs).By detailed analysis of.stress and strain localization,it has been demonstrated that the interf.ce instability is always accompanied by high-stress concentration,i.e.,thermodynamic characteristics,or high strain prevention i.e.,kinetic characteristics,at the hetero-phase *** then f.llows that the thermodynamic driving f.rceG and the kinetic energy barrier Q during dislocation and shear banding can be adopted to classif. the def.rmation modes,f.llowing the so-called thermo-kinetic *** by inserting a high density of.high-energy interf.ces into the Cu-Nb composites,such thermo-kinetic integration at the hetero-phase interf.ce allows a successf.l establishment of.MMCs with the high△G-high Q def.rmation mode,which ensures high hardening and unif.rm strain distri-bution,thus ef.iciently suppressing the shear band,stabilizing the hetero-phase interf.ce,and obtaining an exceptional combination in strength and *** hetero-phase interf.ce chosen by a couple of.thermodynamics and kinetics can be def.ned as breaking the thermo-kinetic correlation and has been proposed f.r artif.cially designing MNCs.

Artif.cial ground f.eezing of.underground mines in cold regions using thermosyphons with air insulation

Current practice of.underground artif.cial ground f.eezing(AGf.typically involves huge ref.igeration systems of.large economic and environmental *** this study,a novel AGf.technique is proposed deploying available cold wind in cold *** is achieved by a static heat transf.r device called thermosyphon equipped with an air insulation layer.A ref.igeration unit can be optionally integrated to meet additional cooling *** introduction of.air insulation isolates the thermosyphon f.om ground zones where f.eezing is not needed,resulting in:(1)steering the cooling resources(cold wind or ref.igeration)towards zones of.interest;and(2)minimizing ref.igeration *** design is demonstrated using well-validated mathematical models f.om our previous work based on two-phase enthalpy method of.the ground coupled with a thermal resistance network f.r the *** Canadian mines are considered:the Cigar Lake Mine and the Giant *** results show that our proposed design can speed the f.eezing time by 30%at the Giant Mine and by two months at the Cigar Lake ***,a cooling load of.2.4 GWh can be saved at the Cigar Lake ***,this study provides mining practitioners with sustainable solutions of.underground AGf.

The design,analysis,f.brication,and characterization of.two distinct MeMS rotational structures are provided;these structures include a classical symmetrical lancet structure and a novel symmetrical C-shaped structure provided with a tilted arm,and both are actuated by thermal *** proposed C-shaped structure implemented a curved beam mechanism to enhance the movement delivered by the thermal *** geometrical parameters of.our proposed device were optimized using the design of.experiment(DOe)***,the analytical modeling based on Castigliano’s second theorem and the simulations based on the f.nite element method(f.M)were used to predict the behavior of.the symmetrical C-shaped structure;the results were in good agreement with each *** MeMS-based rotational structures were f.bricated on silicon-on-insulator(SOI)waf.rs using bulk micromachining technology and deep reactive ion etching(DRIe)*** f.bricated devices underwent experimental characterization;our results showed that our proposed MeMS rotational structure exhibited a 28%improvement in the delivered displacement compared to the symmetrical lancet ***,the experimental results showed good agreement with those obtained f.om numerical *** proposed structures have potential applications in a variety of.MeMS devices,including accelerometers,gyroscopes,and resonators,due to their ability to maximize displacement and thus enhance sensitivity.

The induction generator ef.ect(IGe)and the openloop modal proximity(OLMP)are two dif.erent reasons why subsynchronous oscillations(SSOs)in a series-compensated power system(SCPS)may *** IGe attributes the growing SSOs to negative resistance,while the OLMP explains the SSO mechanism f.om the standpoint of.modal *** this paper,we investigate the connections between the IGe and the OLMP through equivalent RLC circuit and open-loop modal *** investigation is conducted f.r two types of.seriescompensated power systems where either a synchronous generator or a Df.G is connected at the sending *** investigation reveals the conditions,in which the IGe and the OLMP may jointly cause the growing SSOs,i.e.,both the IGe and the OLMP can explain why the growing SSOs ***,the investigation indicates that the IGe and the OLMP may be totally irrelevant and lead to growing SSOs *** implies that it is possible that in a SCPS,the growing SSOs are only due to the IGe,and the OLMP is non-existent,and vice ***,when the growing SSOs occurs in a SCPS,examination based on both the IGe and the OLMP should be caref.lly conducted in order to f.nd if.the oscillatory instability is due to the IGe,or the OLMP,or both of.them.
