Turning, Microbial Inoculation and Use of.Eisenia f.etida in Household Organic Waste Composting

On site composting of.organic household wastes is an economical and environmentally tiiendly way to manage municipal wastes. In this manuscript authors evaluated the importance of.turning the wastes and of.inoculating microorganisms and worms in order to unprove the composting process at domestic scale. f.ur treatments （Control without turning- C-, Control with Turning- CT- inoculated Mountain Microorganism with turning- MM- and Worms without turning- W-） were tested in a random experiment with tour replicates. Sixteen composting bins were f.d with 300 kg of.organic wastes f.om a local street market. The process of.compostnig lasted 13 weeks af.er which all the composts were sif.ed and submitted to a range of.chemical, physical and biological analysis. According to the results MM slightly increased the initial temperature and enzymatic activiry. This investigation outcome don＇t provide of.suf.icient grounds f.r a precise recommendation about worms inoculation in compost bins. A decrease between 75% and 80% in the f.esh weight of.the organic waste was f.und in the f.rst thirteen weeks af.er starting the composting process in all the treatments. The quality level of.the compost was acceptable, with very low heavy metal content. Turn over helps to keep the product hygienic especially af.er the inoculation with MM microbial starts. In conclusion and according to the results of.this investigation, the use of.320 L compost bins f.r the organic waste management is strongly advisable.

The increase in the average air temperature due to global warming has produced an early onset of.the reproduction in many migratory birds of.the Paleartic *** to the“mismatch hypothesis”this response can lead to a decrease in the breeding output when the conditions that trigger the departure f.om the wintering areas do not match the availability of.f.od resources in the breeding *** used 653 brooding events registered during the period 1991–2013 to investigate the link between climatic variables and individual breeding perf.rmance of.a partially migratory passerine,the Rock Sparrow Petronia petronia,breeding at the altitude limit of.its *** laying date(LD)of.the earliest f.rst clutch was associated with local spring(minimum)temperatures but did not show a signif.cant trend during the period *** LD of.the latest f.rst clutch had a positive and statistically signif.cant trend,unrelated to local covariates and resulting in a longer breeding season(1.5 days/year).A longer breeding season allowed birds to produce more second clutches,which proportion increased f.om 0.14 to *** average breeding success was also positively correlated with the average temperature in July and with the duration of.the breeding *** to expectations,the most important climate-dependent ef.ect was a stretch of.the breeding season due to a signif.cant increase of.the LD of.the latest f.rst-clutches rather than an earlier breeding *** show how climate changes act on bird populations through multiple paths and stress the need to assess the link between climatic variables and several aspects of.the breeding cycle.
