flame Thermal spray (fTs) coatings frequently show some porosity and reduced adherence to substrate, which affect its properties, especially its corrosion resistance. In this work, the corrosion resistance of AIsI 1018 carbon steel coated by different methods is compared: electroless nickel (EN) coating, NiCrfeBsi obtained by fTs, duplex coatings of an EN deposit on a layer of NiCrfeBsi obtained by fTs and a layer of NiCrfeBsi on an EN deposit. The coatings were characterized using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques, EDs microprobe microanalysis, roughness as well as electrochemical polarization tests to obtain the corrosion rate. The results show the enhancement in the corrosion resistance in saline medium of the duplex coatings, especially of the EN coating on fTs layer.

Cave-adapted animals provide a unique opportunity to study the evolutionary mechanisms underlying phenotypic,metabolic,behavioral,and genetic evolution in response to cave *** Mexican tetra(Astyanax mexicanus)is considered a unique model system as it shows both surface and cave-dwelling *** date,at least 33 different cave populations have been identified,with phylogenetic studies suggesting an origin from at least two independent surface lineages,thereby providing a unique opportunity to study parallel *** the present study,we carried out the most exhaustive phylogeographic study of *** to date,including cave and surface localities,using two mitochondrial markers(cytochrome b(cyt b)and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI))and nuclear rhodopsin visual pigment(rho).Additionally,we inferred the molecular evolution of rho within the two contrasting environments(cave and surface)and across three geographic regions(sierra de El Abra,sierra de Guatemala,and Micos).In total,267 individuals were sequenced for the two mitochondrial fragments and 268 individuals were sequenced for the rho visual pigment from 22 cave and 46 surface *** results based on the mitochondrial data supported the two-lineage hypothesis,except for the Pachón and Chica caves,whose introgression has been largely *** sierra de El Abra region depicted the largest genetic diversity,followed by the sierra de Guatemala *** the phylogeographic patterns of rho,we recovered exclusive haplogroups for the sierra de El Abra(Haplogroup I)and sierra de Guatemala regions(Haplogroup IV).Moreover,a 544 bp deletion in the rho gene was observed in the Escondido cave population from sierra de Guatemala,reducing the protein from seven to three intramembrane *** change may produce a loss-of-function(LOf)but requires further *** nonsynonymous(dN)and synonymous(ds)substitution rates(omega valuesω),our results revealed

Recognition of pathogens by Toll-like receptors （TLR） activate multiple signaling cascades and expression of genes tailored to mount a primary immune response, inflammation, cell survival and apoptosis. Although TLR-induced activation of pathways, such as nuclear factor kappaB （Nf-κB） and mitogen-activated protein kinases （MAPK）, has been well studied, molecular entities controlling quantitative regulation of these pathways during an immune response remain poorly defined. We identified sam68 as a novel regulator of TLR-induced Nf-κB and MAPK activation. We found that TLR2 and TLR3 are totally dependent, whereas TLR4 is only partially dependent on sam68 to induce the activation of Nf-KB c-Rel. Absence of sam68 greatly decreased TLR2- and TLR3-induced Nf-κB p65 activation, whereas TLR4- induced p65 activation in a sam68-independent manner. In contrast, sam68 appeared to be a negative regulator of MAPK pathways because absence of sam68 enhanced TLR2-induced activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases （ERK） and c-Jun N-terminal kinases （JNK）. Interestingly, TLR2- and TLR3-induced gene expression showed a differential requirement of sam68. Absence of sam68 impaired TLR2-induced gene expression, suggesting that sam68 has a critical role in myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88-dependent TLR2 signaling. TLR3-induced gene expression that utilize Toll/Interleukin-1 receptor-domain-containing adapter-inducing beta interferon pathway, depend only partially on sam68. Our findings suggest that sam68 may function as an immune rheostat that balances the activation of Nf-κB p65 and c-Rel, as well as MAPK, revealing a potential novel target to manipulate TLR signaling.

The primary purpose of this work is to reproduce the scenario composed of a charge-dyon system utilizing position-dependent effective mass(PDM) background in the non-relativistic and in the relativistic regimes. In the nonrelativistic case we substitute the exact charge-dyon eigenfunction into PDM schr?dinger equation, in the Zhu-Kroemer parametrization, and then solve it for the mass distribution considering M = M(r). Analogously, in the relativistic case we study the Klein-Gordon equation for a position-dependent mass, and in this case, we are able to analytically solve the equation for M = M(r, θ).

Grouping nodes gives better performance to the whole network by diminishing the average network delay and avoiding unnecessary message forwarding and additional overhead. Many routing protocols for ad-hoc and sensor networks have been designed but none of them are based on groups. In this paper, we will start defining group-based topologies, and then we will show how some wireless ad hoc sensor networks （WAHsN） routing protocols perform when the nodes are arranged in groups. In our proposal connections between groups are established as a function of the proximity of the nodes and the neighbor＇s available capacity （based on the node＇s energy）. We describe the architecture proposal, the messages that are needed for the proper operation and its mathematical description. We have also simulated how much time is needed to propagate information between groups. finally, we will show a comparison with other architectures.

The interactions between herbivores and their host plants play a key role in ecological processes. Understanding the width and nature of these interactions is funda- mental to ecology and conservation. Recent research on DNA-based inference of trophic associations suggests that the host range of phytophagous insects in the tropics may be wider than previously thought based on traditional observation. However, the reliability of molecular inference of ecological associations, still strongly dependent on PCR and thus exposed to the risk of contamination with environmental DNA, is under debate. Here, we explored alternative procedures to reduce the chance of amplification of external, nondiet DNA, including surface decontamination and analysis of mid/hind guts, comparing the results with those obtained using the standard protocol. We studied 261 specimens in eight species of Neotropical Chrysomelidae that yielded 316 psbA-trnH intergenic spacer sequences （cpDNA marker of putative diets） from unique and multiple-band PCR results. The taxonomic identity of these sequences was inferred using the automated pipeline BAGpipe, yielding results consistent with 31 plant families. Regardless of the proto- col used, a wide taxonomic spectrum of food was inferred for all chrysomelid species. Canonical Correspondence Analysis using these data revealed significant differences at- tributed mainly to species （expectedly, since they represent different ecologies）, but also to treatment （untreated vs. cleaned/gut samples） and PCR results （single vs. multiple bands）. Molecular identification of diets is not straightforward and, regardless of the species＇ niche breadth, combining approaches that reduce external contamination and studying multiple individuals per species may help increasing confidence in results.

Geodesic Vulnerability Approach for Identification of Critical Buses in Power systems

One of the most critical issues in the evaluation of power systems is the identification of critical buses. for this purpose, this paper proposes a new methodology that evaluates the substitution of the power flow technique by the geodesic vulnerability index to identify critical nodes in power *** methods are applied comparatively to demonstrate the scope of the proposed approach. The applicability of the methodology is illustrated using the IEEE 118-bus test system as a case study. To identify the critical components, a node is initially disconnected, and the performance of the resulting topology is evaluated in the face of simulations for multiple cascading faults. Cascading events are simulated by randomly removing assets on a system that continually changes its structure with the elimination of each component. Thus, the classification of the critical nodes is determined by evaluating the resulting performance of 118 different topologies and calculating the damaged area for each of the disintegration curves of cascading failures. In summary, the feasibility and suitability of complex network theory are justified to identify critical nodes in power systems.
