The effects of boundary (liquid/solid) slip on hydrodynamics are well ***,it is extremely difficult to quantify in-situ boundary slip in a lubrication ***,an effective interfacial parameter that is well correlated with the lubrication effect is of practical *** paper presents an examination of common interfacial parameters,including surface tension,contact angle,contact angle hysteresis,and a recently proposed spreading *** surfaces of different hydro/oleophobicity were prepared and characterized using the aforementioned interfacial *** samples were further used as bearing surfaces in hydrodynamic lubrication *** correlations of these parameters with the measured lubricating film thickness were examined and *** key parameter closely related to the hydrodynamic effect was identified.

Crassostrea(Magallana)saidii has been commercially ranched in Malaysia and consumed for more than 160 years,but it was only recently identified as a new species to *** study was conducted to evaluate the reproductive phenology of C.(M.)*** of 30 individual oysters were taken monthly for 15 months from the sole population at Sungai Muar estuary in Johor,*** sex ratio was 1:1.64(male:female)for all examined specimens,with female numbers significantly *** was detected in 1.56%of all *** peaks in April(2019)and November(2018 and 2019),and were positively associated with the increased rainfall *** occurred throughout the research period with temporal *** highest values of maturity index(MI)were recorded in March,August and October 2019,when most oysters were in matured and maturing *** index(CI)ranged from 31.90±1.25(April 2019)to 70.03±3.23(October 2019),exhibiting two peaks(March and October 2019)and subsequently reduced in CI indicating spawning consistency with histological *** stressors such as heavy sedimentation and inland development are threatening the survival of this *** understanding of their reproductive biology is essential to ensure the survival and sustainability of C.(M.)saidii fishery.

Ten of thousands of aircraft are expected to retire in the next 20 *** manufacturers are gearing up for a new wave of recycling challenges as these aircrafts contain significant higher amount of carbon fibre reinforced polymer composite,which cannot be recycled by the conventional processes designed for metallic *** manufacturers have been working with the recycling industry to limit unsustainable dismantling that is harmful to the environment and the potential liability risk of re-entry of un-certified salvaged parts back to the aviation *** organised recycling network and procedures have already been set up for the conventional metallic alloys and will soon be required to include the composite *** paper reports the existing aircraft recycling practice and reviews the key recycling technologies for thermoset *** consumptions of these technologies are sought from the literature and are reported in this *** in development of reuse options for the recycled fibre is also included with discussion of their advantages and *** challenge of working with the fluffy fibre is considered and the benefit of fibre alignment is highlighted for encouraging a widespread use of the fibre.

To break through the bottle-neck of quantum yield in upconversion （UC） core-shell system, we elucidated that the energy transfer efficiency in core-shell system had an evident contribution from the charge transfer of interface with related to two factors：（i） band offsets and （2） binding energy area density. These two variables were determined by material intrinsic properties and core-shell thickness ratio. We further unraveled the mechanism of non-radiative energy transfer by charge transfer induced dipole at the inter- face, based on a quasi-classical derivation from F6rster type resonant energy transfer （FRET） model. With stable bonding across the interface, the contributions on energy transfer in both radiative and non-radiative energy transfer should also be accounted together in Auzel＇s energy transfer （ETU） model in core-shell system. Based on the discussion about interface bonding, band offsets, and forma- tion energies, we figured out the significance of interface bonding induced gap states （IBIGS） that played a significant role for influ- encing the charge transfer and radiative type energy transfer. The interface band offsets were a key factor in dominating the non-radiative energy transfer, which was also correlated to core-shell thickness ratio. We found that the energy area density with re- lated to core/shell thickness ratio followed the trend of Boltzman sigmoidal growth function. By the physical trend, this work contrib- uted a reference how the multi-layered core-shell structure was formed starting from the very beginning within minimum size. A route was paved towards a systematic study of the interface to unveil the energy transfer mechanism in core-shell systems.

Bremsstrahlung—the spontaneous emission of broadband radiation from free electrons that are deflected by atomic nuclei—contributes to the majority of X-rays emitted from X-ray tubes and used in applications ranging from medical imaging to semiconductor chip ***,we show that the bremsstrahlung intensity can be enhanced significantly—by more than three orders of magnitude—through shaping the electron wavefunction to periodically overlap with atoms in crystalline ***,we show how to shape the bremsstrahlung X-ray emission pattern into arbitrary angular emission profiles for purposes such as unidirectionality and ***,we find that these enhancements and shaped emission profiles cannot be attributed solely to the spatial overlap between the electron probability distribution and the atomic centers,as predicted by the paraxial and nonrecoil theory for free electron light *** work highlights an unprecedented regime of free electron light emission where electron waveshaping provides multi-dimensional control over practical radiation processes like *** results pave the way towards greater versatility in table-top X-ray sources and improved fundamental understanding of quantum electron-light interactions.

omprehensive Summary,Polymetallaynes are a promising branch of metallopolymers,in which the introduction of metal building blocks to organic conjugated backbones leads to their unique skeletons and versatile ***,the chemical structures,geometric configurations and functional properties in these organometallic systems can be adjusted flexibly by the appropriate selection of metal centers,auxiliary ligands,or bridging *** recent years,both one-dimensional and two-dimensional polymetallaynes have attracted considerable attention owing to their excellent electronic,optical and magnetic ***,the studies on molecular metallaynes provide substantial insights for the exploration of the structure-property-activity relationships in these organometallic acetylide-containing *** recent research progress of polymeric and molecular metallaynes containing platinum,mercury and gold is discussed in this article.A series of functional properties have been realized in these acetylide-containing compounds by the rational structural design and refined synthetic strategies,leading to their emerging applications including energy conversion,nonlinear optics,data storage and memory,as well as chemo/biosensing.
