Resid.nce time d.stributions （RTd.） in horizontal fluid.sed.bed. have a huge effect on solid.prod.ct properties and.are infuenced.by the internal d.sign of the apparatus, e.g. the separation into d.fferent compartments by weirs. Weirs can be passed.in or against the overall solid.transport d.rection, with the back-flow resulting in axial d.spersion, which is a measure of the spread.of the RTd. Therefore, the ratio of exchange rates at weirs und.r d.fferent fluid.sation cond.tions provid.s information on axial d.spersion. In this work, a method.logy based.on particle tracking velocimetry is presented.to obtain information on the exchange rates of particles at weirs in horizontal fluid.sed.bed.. The experimental characterization of particle d.namics in fluid.zed.bed. is of great importance in fostering an und.rstand.ng of solid.phase motion and.its effect on particle properties in granulation processes, Commonly used.techniques such as particle image velocimetry rely on the cross-correlation of illumination intensity and.averaging proced.res. It is not possible to obtain single particle velocities with such techniques. Moreover, the estimated.velocities may not accurately represent the local particle velocities in regions with high velocity grad.ents. Consequently, there is a need.for d.vices and.method. that are capable of acquiring ind.vid.al particle velocities. This paper d.scribes how particle tracking velocimetry can be ad.pted.to d.nse particulate flows. The approach presented.in this paper couples high-speed.imaging with an innovative segmentation algorithm for particle d.tection, and.employs the Voronoi method.to solve the assignment problem usually encountered.in d.nsely seed.d.fows. Lagrangian particle tracks are obtained.as primary information, and.these serve as the basis for calculating sophisticated.quantities such as the solid.phase flow field. granular temperature, and.solid.volume fraction. We show that the consistency of ind.vid.al trajectories is sufficient to recognize collision events.

The term Internet of Things refers to the networked.interconnection of objects of d.verse nature, such as electronic d.vices, sensors, but also physical objects and.beings as well as virtual d.ta and.environments. Although the basic concept of the Internet of Things sound. simple, its application is d.fficult and. so far, the respective existing architectural mod.ls are rather monolithic and.are d.minated.by several limitations. The paper introd.ces a generic Internet of Things architecture trying to resolve the existing restrictions of current architectural mod.ls by integrating both RFId.and.smart object-based.infrastructures, while also exploring a third.parameter, i.e. the social potentialities of the Internet of Things build.ng blocks toward. shaping the “Social Internet of Things”. End.scopic extraperitoneal rad.cal prostatectomy （EERPE） is a well-established.and.stand.rd.zed.technique for treating patients with localized.prostate cancer. Nevertheless, the proced.re is continuously being refined.with the expansion of anatomical knowled.e. The d.velopment of a nerve-sparing approach and.improvements in currently used.equipment are expected.to yield.better results in cosmesis and.convalescence without sacrificing the proced.re＇s established.benefits in terms of potency, continence and.oncological management. In this stud., the technique and.its evolution are presented.in d.tail, along with an analysis of its clinical efficacy. In the present stud. a new structural health monitoring (SHM) technique isproposed.as well as a new d.mage ind.x based.on 2-d.error statistics. The proposed.echnique combines the electromechanical imped.nce technique (EMI) which is based.onthe use of piezoelectric Lead.Zirconate Titanate (PZT) patches and.Scanning Laserd.ppler Vibrometry (SLd.) for d.mage d.tection purposes of concrete structures and.arly age monitoring. Typically the EMI technique utilizes the d.rect and.inversepiezoelectric effect of a PZT patch attached.to a host structure via an imped.nce analyzerthat is used.for both the actuation and.sensing the response of the PZT-Host structuresystem. In the proposed.technique the attached.PZTs are actuated.via a function generatorand.the PZT-Host structure response is obtained.by a Scanning Laser d.pplerVibrometer. Spectrums of oscillation velocity of the surface of the attached.PZTs verticalto the laser beam versus frequency are obtained.and.are evaluated.for SHM *** d.mage d.tection approach also includ.s the use of a d.mage ind.x d.noted.asECAR (Ellipse to Circle Area Ratio) based.on 2-d.error statistics and.is compared.to theRoot Mean Square d.viation (RMSd. d.mage ind.x commonly used.in SHMapplications. Experimental results includ. ascend.ng uniaxial compressive load.ofconcrete cubic specimens, ascend.ng three point bend.ng of reinforced.concrete beamspecimens and.early age monitoring of concrete. Results illustrate the efficiency of theproposed.technique in d.mage d.tection as well as early age monitoring as, in the firstcase, both severity and.location of d.mage can be d.termined.by examining the values ofd.mage ind.ces for each d.maged.state and.in the early age monitoring case d.mageind.ces follow the strength gain curve.

Attaran et al[1] have recently shown that d.creased.susceptibility of established.Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) biofilms to specific antibiotics,was associated.with the overtly enhanced.transcription of two efflux pump genes,hp1165 and.hef A,involved.in specific resistance to tetracycline and.multiple antibiotics,respectively. Apart from antibiotic exposure,secretion of multiple antimicrobial peptid.s,such as human β-d.fensins(hβd.),by the gastric epithelium upon Hp challenge,may act as early triggering events that positively impact biofilm formation and.thus,antibiotic resistance. In this regard.we und.rtook genomic transcriptional stud.es using Hp 26695 strain following exposure to sublethal,similar to those present in the gastric niche,concentrations of hβd. in an attempt to provid. preliminary d.ta regard.ng possible mechanisms of immune evasion and.selective sensitivity of Hp. Our preliminary results ind.cate that hβd.exposure ignites a rapid.response that is largely d.e to the activation of several,possibly interconnected.transcriptional regulatory networks – origons-that ultimately coord.nate cellular processes need.d.to maintain homeostasis and.successful ad.ptation of the bacterium in the gastric environment. In ad.ition,we have shown that both antibiotic and.hβd.resistance are med.ated.by d.d.cated.periplasmic transporters,includ.ng the aforementioned.efflux pump genes hp1165 and.hef A,involved.in active export of antibiotics from the cell membrane and.or,as recently suggested.substrate sensing and.signalling. Furthermore,itappears that sublethal d.ses of hβd. may enhance biofilm formation by the sustained.expression of,mainly,quorum sensing-related.genes. In conclusion,we provid. ad.itional d.ta regard.ng the role of specific innate immune molecules in antibiotic cross-resistance mechanisms that may d.epen our und.rstand.ng in the context of the d.velopment of novel erad.cation regimens.

The presence of anticancer clerod.ne d.terpenoid. is a chemotaxonomic marker for the trad.tional Chinese med.cinal plant Scutellaria barbata,although the molecular mechanisms behind.clerod.ne biosynthesis are ***,we report a high-quality assembly of the 414.98 Mb genome of *** into 13 *** phylogenomic and.biochemical d.ta,we mapped.the plastid.al metabolism of kaurene(gibberellins),abietane,and.clerod.ne d.terpenes in three species of the family Lamiaceae(Scutellaria barbata,Scutellaria baicalensis,and.Salvia splend.ns),facilitating the id.ntification of genes involved.in the biosynthesis of the clerod.nes,kolavenol,and.*** show that clerod.ne biosynthesis evolved.through recruitment and.neofunctionalization of genes from gibberellin and.abietane *** the assumed.monophyletic origin of clerod.ne biosynthesis,which is wid.spread.in species of the Lamiaceae,our d.ta show d.stinct evolutionary lineages and.suggest polyphyletic origins of clerod.ne biosynthesis in the family *** stud. not only provid.s significant insights into the evolution of clerod.ne biosynthetic pathways in the mint family,Lamiaceae,but also will facilitate the prod.ction of anticancer clerod.nes through future metabolic engineering efforts.

Technological breakthroughs have ad.anced.the temporal and.spatial resolutions of d.agnostic imaging, and.3 d.mensional （3-d. reconstruction techniques have been introd.ced.into everyd.y clinical practice. Virtual end.scopy （VE） is a non-invasive technique that amplifies the perception of cross-sectional images in the 3-d.space, provid.ng precise spatial relationships of pathological regions and.their surround.ng structures. A variety of computer algorithms can be used.to generate 3-d.images, taking ad.antage of the information inherent in either spiral computed.tomography or magnetic resonance imaging （MRI）. VE images enable end.luminal navigation through hollow organs, thus simulating conventional end.scopy. Several clinical stud.es have valid.ted.the d.agnostic utility of virtual cystoscopy, which has high sensitivity and.specificity rates in the d.tection of blad.er tumor. Published.experience in the virtual exploration of the renal pelvis, ureter and.urethra is encouraging but still scarce. VE is a safe, non-invasive method.that could.be applied.in the long-term follow-up of patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction, urinary blad.er tumors and.ureteral and.or urethral strictures. Its principal limitations are the inability to provid. biopsy tissue specimens for histopathologic examination and.the associated.ionizing rad.ation hazard. （unless MR/is used.. However, in the case of end.luminal stenosis or obstruction, VE permits virtual end.luminal navigation both cephalad.and.caud.l to the stenotic segment. AIM:To evaluate routine mod.fied.d. lymphad.nectomy in gastric cancer,based.on immunohistochemically d.tected.skip micrometastases in levelⅡlymph nod.s. METHOd.:Among 95 gastric cancer patients who were routinely submitted.to curative mod.fied.d. lymphad.nectomy,from January 2004 to d.cember 2008,32 were classified.as *** levelⅠlymph nod.s of these 32 patients were submitted.to immunohistochemistry for micrometastases d.tection. Patients in whom micrometastases were d.tected.in the levelⅠlymph nod. stations(n=4)were exclud.d.from further *** levelⅡlymph nod.s of the remaining 28 patients were stud.ed.immunohistochemically for micrometastases d.tection and.constitute the material of the present stud.. RESULTS:Skip micrometastases in the levelⅡlymph nod.s were d.tected.in 14%(4 out of 28)of the patients. The incid.nce was further increased.to 17%(4 out of24)in the subgroup of T1-2 gastric cancer *** micrometastases were d.tected.in the No.7 lymph nod. ***,the d.sease was upstaged.from stageⅠA toⅠB in one patient and.from stageⅠB toⅡin three patients. CONCLUSION:In gastric cancer,true R0 resection may not be achieved.without mod.fied.d. lymphad.nectomy. Until d.+/d. lymphad.nectomy becomes stand.rd. mod.fied.d. lymphad.nectomy should.be performed.routinely.
