Electronic energy loss and ion velocity correlation effects in track production in swift-ion-irradiated LiNbO_(3):A quantitative assessment between structural damage morphology and energy deposition

The primary motivation for studying how irradiation modifies the structures and properties of solid materials involves the understanding of undesirable phenomena,including irradiation-induced degradation of components in nuclear reactors and space exploration,and beneficial applications,including material performance tailoring through ion beam modification and defect *** this work,the formation mechanism of latent tracks with different damage morphologies in LiNbO_(3)crystals under 0.09-6.17 Me V/u ion irradiation with an electronic energy loss from 2.6-13.2 ke V/nm is analyzed by experimental characterizations and numerical ***-induced damage is preliminarily evaluated via the prism coupling technique to analyze the correlation between the dark-mode spectra and energy loss profiles of irradiated *** the irradiation conditions of different ion velocities and electronic energy losses,different damage morphologies,from individual spherical defects to discontinuous and continuous tracks,are experimentally *** ion penetration process,the ion velocity determines the spatiotemporal distribution of deposited irradiation energy induced by electronic energy loss,meaning that the two essential factors including electronic energy loss and ion velocity coaffect the track *** inelastic thermal spike model is used to numerically calculate the spatiotemporal evolutions of energy deposition and the corresponding atomic temperature under different irradiation conditions,and a quantitative relationship is proposed by comparison with corresponding experimentally observed track damage *** obtained quantitative relationship between irradiation conditions and track damage provides deep insight and guidance for understanding the damage behavior of crystal materials in extreme radiation environments and selecting irradiation parameters,including ion species and energies,for ion beam technique application in atom

Background:Pediatric acute pancreatitis(AP)is rare but *** AP is associated with higher morbidity and ***,there are no universally accepted prognostic criteria for ***:This retrospective study included children with AP admitted to an intensive care unit(ICU)of our tertiary pediatric center between January 2009 and December *** severity of organ dysfunction in AP was assessed according to the modified Atlanta criteria using the Pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(p SOFA)and Computed Tomography Severity Index(CTSI).Results:Seventy acute episodes of AP were evaluated in 55 children with primary *** addition,secondary AP was diagnosed in 15 patients originally admitted to ICU for different *** AP[no organ dysfunction,normal computed tomography(CT)finding]was the most prevalent(64/85 episodes in 49 children),followed by moderate AP(15 children;p SOFA 2-9 points,CTSI 3-4 points on admission).Severe AP(p SOFA 4-17 points,CTSI 6-10 points)was diagnosed in 6 children with traumatic or secondary *** most frequent etiologies of primary AP episodes were idiopathic(39%)and biliary(31%).children with idiopathic AP had frequent relapses and *** AP was typically mild,but presented with high pancreatic enzyme levels and recurrence *** at ICU and an interval without enteral nutrition(EN)were relatively short in drug-induced AP and relatively long in secondary and traumatic *** retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)was performed in 13 patients with biliary AP and in 4 patients with traumatic *** AP-related death was ***:p SOFA score accurately reflects the severity and prognosis of AP in children.

Impact of OCT scan-patterns in identifying morphological features of lamellar macular holes and macular pseudoholes

AIM:To evaluate the impact of the optical coherence tomography(OCT)scan patterns on the detection of the features associated with lamellar macular hole(LMH)and macular pseudohole(MPH).METHODS:This is a retrospective analysis of 100 consecutive eyes with LMH(n=41)and MPH(n=59)having at least three of the following OCT features,which include mandatory criteria for the diagnosis of LMH and MPH:Epiretinal membrane,epiretinal proliferation,verticalization,intraretinal cystoid spaces,foveoschisis,irregular foveal contour,foveal cavity with undermined edges,and ellipsoid line *** outcome measurement was the detection frequency of the features in three different OCT scan patterns:1)volume scan;2)six radial scans(R6);and 3)vertical and horizontal radial scans(R2).RESULTS:Of the total eight features,the maximal detection frequency was found as 4.45±1.45,4.35±1.47,and 3.70±1.59,by the volume,R6 and R2,respectively.R2 was inferior to the other patterns in detection of the total features(P<0.001),whereas R6 and volume patterns were found comparable(P=0.312).CONCLUSION:The physician should be aware that the selection of the OCT-scan pattern may influence the detection of mandatory morphological criteria for the diagnosis of LMH and MPH.

The implementation of china’s three-child fertility policy has led to a notable increase in multiple-child ***,ﬁrstborn children experience a signiﬁcant transition from being an only child to a non-only *** transition is associated with problematic behaviors,affecting their social adjustment,sibling relationships,and family *** several studies have examined the relationship between parent-child attachment and problem behaviors exhibited byﬁrstborn children during family transitions,theﬁndings have been ***,a meta-analytic study was undertaken to elucidate the inconsistencies in this relationship and explore the moderating factors that may contribute to these *** a systematic literature retrieval and screening method,12 effect sizes were derived from the 10 eligible articles,encompassing a sample size of *** meta-analysis demonstrated a low negative association between parent-child secure attachment and problem behaviors exhibited byﬁrstborn children during family ***,the present study investigates potential moderator factors,such as children’s age and geographic region,to gain a more nuanced understanding of the ***,the establishment of parent-child attachment relationships has the potential to mitigate problem behaviors observed inﬁrst-born children during family *** implications of theseﬁndings indicate that parents can nurture secure attachment bonds with their children by demonstrating sensitive responsiveness,employing positive parenting practices,and fostering emotional *** efforts contribute to the cultivation of secure internal working models and positive behavioral manifestations withinﬁrst-born children,which in turn affect their relationships with siblings.

Aim:We aimed to analyze temporal trends in mortality from intrahepatic(ICC)and extrahepatic(ECC)cholangiocarcinoma in selected countries ***:Official death certification data for ICC and ECC and populations estimates for 29 countries worldwide(17 from Europe,8 from the Americas,and 4 from Australasia)and for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of china(SAR),from 1995 to 2018,were extracted from the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization ***-standardized mortality rates were computed.A joinpoint regression analysis was ***:In both sexes,ICC mortality rates increased in most countries considered,including the USA,the UK,and Australia;in some countries,including Italy and France,the increasing trends leveled off over the most recent *** men,around 2016,the highest rates(1.7-2.3/100,000)were observed in Hong Kong SAR,Portugal,France,Spain,Australia,Austria,the UK,and Canada;Latin American countries and some eastern European countries had the lowest rates(0.2-0.8/100,000).A similar pattern was observed in women,but with lower rates(from 1.7/100,000 in Hong Kong SAR to 0.14/100,000 in Argentina).ECC mortality declined in most European and Australasian countries,but it tended to increase in *** both sexes,rates were below 1/100,000 around 2016,with the only exceptions being Japan(2.6/100,000 men and 1.2/100,000 women)and Hungary(1.5/100,000 men and 1.1/100,000 women).Conclusion:ICC mortality increased in most areas of the world,likely due to increased prevalence of risk factors and improved cancer recognition and *** mortality fell in most countries,largely due to the widespread use of cholecystectomy.

Management of cataract surgery in Lowe syndrome

AIM: To evaluate the ophthalmic and anesthesiologic management of cataract surgery in children with Lowe syndrome receiving lens removal, the development and management of secondary ***: This retrospective case series included 12 eyes of 6 children with genetically verified Lowe syndrome receiving cataract removal. Information regarding the type and duration of surgery and total anesthesia time were recorded. Additionally, intra-and postoperative complications were noted as well as clinical examinations such as visual acuity and funduscopy. RESULTS: All children received simultaneous bilateral cataract surgery at the mean age of 8.98±3.58 wk. Lensectomy combined with posterior capsulotomy and anterior vitrectomy was performed in all children. The mean time for cataract surgery per eye was 35.83±8.86 min, whereas the total time of surgery was 153.33±22.11 min. The mean extubation time and duration at recovery room was 42.33±22.60 min and 130.00±64.37 min, respectively. During surgery, a decrease of oxygen saturation below 93% was found in only one child. During the postoperative followup, nystagmus(6 children) and strabismus(5 children) was commonly found in contrast to no case of visual axis opacification. Secondary glaucoma developed in five eyes of three children, which was treated with topical eye drops in only one child. A trabeculectomy was performed in both eyes of one child, whereas removal of syechia and an iridectomy in one eye of one child. CONCLUSION: Bilateral simultaneous cataract surgery under general anesthesia is a safe surgical procedure in Lowe syndrome children. The glaucoma screening with intraocular pressure measurements is crucial in the postoperative management of Lowe syndrome patients to avoid additional visual impairment.

This paper investigates the importance of trust in international institutions for the development of tax morale by focussing on interactions between trust in the national government and trust in the European Union(EU)or trust in the United Nations(UN).Using large-scale survey data from European countries,we provide evidence that all three trust variables are significantly related to the individual level of tax ***,the results regarding trust in the EU and the UN are very similar,while trust in the national government appears to be the main factor in driving tax ***,depending on the national context,trust in the national government interacts differently with trust in different international institutions with respect to the shaping of tax morale.
