the present study aimed to evaluate multi-element concentrations(Al,As,Ca,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu,Fe,Mg,Mn,Mo,ni,Pb,Sr)in suspended particulate material(SPM)collected from Ensenada de la Paz(ELP)lagoon,Baja California Sur,Mexico in two different periods(September and may)to comprehend their origin,geochemical behavior,mass transfer and associated ecotoxicological *** 24 hr variation coefficient of volumetric SPM levels were found to be 51.7%in September and 40.5%in may,signifying the effects of oceanic *** calculated enrichment factor(EF)values for all the studied elements were of higher magnitude because of the high surface area and oxide nature of SPM,and in this study,Mo had the highest EF of 46.77 probably due to its origin from continental *** the ecotoxicological perspective,the integrated toxic risk index revealed low toxic risk to the benthic ***,the mean-ERM-Quotient calculated using the particulate concentrations of As,Cd,Cr,Cu,ni,Pb indicated 9%probability of toxicity to *** comprehensive geochemical and ecotoxicological assessment of particulate metal concentrations in the ELP lagoon signify low to moderate contamination.

One-neutron stripping process between^(6)Li and^(209)Bi was studied at 28,30,and 34 MeV using the in-beamγ-ray spectroscopy ***γ-γcoincident analysis clearly identified twoγ-rays feeding the ground and long-lived isomeric states,which were employed to determine the cross *** one-neutron stripping cross sections were similar to the cross sections of complete fusion in the^(6)Li+^(209)Bi system,but the one-neutron stripping cross sections decreased more gradually at the sub-barrier region.A coupled-reaction-channel calculation was performed to study the detailed reaction mechanism of the one-neutron stripping process in^(6)*** calculations indicated that the first excited state of 5 Li is critical in the actual one-neutron transfer mechanism,and the valence proton of 209Bi can be excited to the low-lying excited state in(^(6)Li,^(5)Li)reaction,unlike in the(d,p)reaction.

the complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for ^(6)Li+^(209)Bi were measured using the in-beamγ-ray method around the Coulomb *** cross sections of(deuteron captured)incomplete fusion(ICF)products were re-quantified experimentally for this reaction *** results reveal that the ICF cross section is equivalent to that of complete fusion(CF)above the Coulomb barrier and dominant near or below the Coulomb barrier.A theoretical calculation based on the continuum discretized coupled channel(CDCC)method was performed for the aforementioned CF and ICF cross sections;the result is consistent with the *** universal fusion function(UFF)was also compared with the measured CF cross section for different barrier parameters,demonstrating that the CF suppression factor is significantly influenced by the choice of potential,which can reflect both dynamic and static effects of breakup on the fusion process.

the most salient problems of transit vehicle service in latin American intermediate cities include:the high number of passengers involved in traffic accidents;traffic congestion caused by transit vehicles,and pollution generated by these vehicles,which increases in high congestion *** improve upon this situation,a research was conducted on the transit vehicle tracking service,which is a basic service for implementing mobility solutions for the aforementioned problems,the most relevant characteristics of this service for the context of latin American intermediate cities were identified,and an implementation was *** paper presents the four stages of the study:(a)a review of the state-of-the-art of services or systems related to vehicle tracking,including wireless communications technologies,implemented sustainability approaches,usage of special algorithms for efficiency improvement,and the intelligent transportation system(ItS)architecture used as a basis;(b)the process of identifying relevant characteristics of the service for a given context;(c)proposal of an ItS architecture for this service in an intermediate city,its requirements and the suggested technologies;and(d)development of experiments for validating usage of the key suggested *** review allowed to identify the main service characteristics,with regard to vehicle positioning technologies,the recommended wireless communication technology(long range,LoRa),energy consumption considerations,and use of artificial intelligence(AI)to calculate waiting time of users at bus ***,an ItS architecture for the city of Popayan(Colombian city)considering the aforementioned characteristics is proposed,and the experiments related to the use of these technologies are described in detail.

the climatic variability hypothesis(CVH)predicts that organisms in more thermally variable environments have wider thermal breadths and higher thermal plasticity than those from more stable ***,due to evolutionary trade-offs,taxa with greater absolute thermal limits may have little plasticity of such limits(trade-off hypothesis).the CVH assumes that climatic variability is the ultimate driver of thermal tolerance variation across latitudinal and altitudinal gradients,but average temperature also varies along such *** explored intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance in three typical Mediterranean saline water beetles(families Hydrophilidae and Dytiscidae).For each species,we compared two populations where the species coexist,with similar annual mean temperature but contrasting thermal variability(continental *** population).We estimated thermal limits of adults from each population,previously acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We found species-specific patterns but overall,our results agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges,which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid species,this came at the cost of losing plasticity of the upper thermal limit in this population,supporting the trade-off hypothesis,but not in the dytiscid *** results support the role of local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-offs between basal tolerance and physiological plasticity in shaping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms,but also suggest that intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance does not fit a general pattern among aquatic *** such intraspecific variation could lead to inaccurate predictions of the vulnerability of aquatic insects to global warming.

the aim of this paper is to present a generalization of the Shapiro-Wilk W-test or Shapiro-Francia W'-test for application to two or more variables. It consists of calculating all the unweighted linear combinations of the variables and their W- or W'-statistics with the Royston’s log-transformation and standardization, zln(1-W) or zln(1-W'). Because the calculation of the probability of zln(1-W) or zln(1-W') is to the right tail, negative values are truncated to 0 before doing their sum of squares. Independence in the sequence of these half-normally distributed values is required for the test statistic to follow a chi-square distribution. this assumption is checked using the robust Ljung-Box test. One degree of freedom is lost for each cancelled value. defined the new test with its two variants (Q-test or Q'-test), 50 random samples with 4 variables and 20 participants were generated, 20% following a multivariate normal distribution and 80% deviating from this distribution. the new test was compared with mardia’s, runs, and Royston’s tests. Central tendency differences in type II error and statistical power were tested using the Friedman’s test and pairwise comparisons using the Wilcoxon’s test. Differences in the frequency of successes in statistical decision making were compared using the Cochran’s Q test and pairwise comparisons using the Mcnemar’s test. Sensitivity, specificity and efficiency proportions were compared using the Mcnemar’s Z test. the generated 50 samples were classified into five ordered categories of deviation from multivariate normality, the correlation between this variable and p-value of each test was calculated using the Spearman’s coefficient and these correlations were compared. the objective of this article is to demonstrate with examples that the two-sided tie correction does not work well. this correction was developed by Cureton so that Kendall’s tau-type and Spearman’s rho-type formulas for rank-biserial correlation yield the same result when ties are present. However, a correction based on the bracket ties achieves the desired goal, which is demonstrated algebraically and checked with three examples. On the one hand, the 10-element random sample given by Cureton, in which the two-sided tie correction performs well, is taken up. On the other hand, two other examples are given, one with a 7-element random sample and the other with a clinical random sample of 31 participants, in which the two-sided tie correction does not work, but the new correction does. It is concluded that the new corrected formulas coincide with Goodman-Kruskal’s gamma as compared to Glass’ formula that matches Somers’ dY|X or asymmetric measure of association of Y ranking with respect to X dichotomy. the use of this underreported coefficient is suggested, which is very easy to calculate from its equivalence with Kruskal-Wallis’ gamma and Somers’ dY|X.
