Psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with serious mental disorders: A systematic review of the literature

Subcellular Distribution of Glutathione Precursors in Arabidopsis thaliana

Glutathione is an important antioxidant and has many important functions in plant development, growth and defense. Glutathione synthesis and degradation is highly compartment-specific and relies on the subcellular availability of its precursors, cysteine, glutamate, glycine and γ-glutamylcysteine especially in plastids and the cytosol which are considered as the main centers for glutathione synthesis. The availability of glutathione precursors within these cell compartments is therefore of great importance for successful plant development and defense. The aim of this study was to investigate the compartmentspecific importance of glutathione precursors in Arabidopsis thaliana. The subcellular distribution was compared between wild type plants （Col-0）, plants with impaired glutathione synthesis （glutathione deficient pad2-1 mutant, wild type plants treated with buthionine sulfoximine）, and one complemented line （OE3） with restored glutathione synthesis. Immunocytohistochemistry revealed that the inhibition of glutathione synthesis induced the accumulation of the glutathione precursors cysteine, glutamate and glycine in most cell compartments including plastids and the cytosol. A strong decrease could be observed in γ-glutamylcysteine （γ-EC） contents in these cell compartments. These experiments demonstrated that the inhibition of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase （GSH1） - the first enzyme of glutathione synthesis - causes a reduction of γ-EC levels and an accumulation of all other glutathione precursors within the cells.

Gromov Hyperbolicity of Riemann Surfaces

We study the hyperbolicity in the Gromov sense of Riemann surfaces. We deduce the hyperbolicity of a surface from the hyperbolicity of its ＂building block components＂. We also prove the equivalence between the hyperbolicity of a Riemann surface and the hyperbolicity of some graph associated with it. These results clarify how the decomposition of a Riemann surface into Y-pieces and funnels affects the hyperbolicity of the surface. The results simplify the topology of the surface and allow us to obtain global results from local information.

The effect of vinyl acetate （VA） content in ethylene vinyl acetate （eva） copolyrner on the mechanical properties of polypropylene was investigated. Three different eva copolymers with concentrations of 3 wt%, 6 wt%, 9 wt%, 12 wt% and 15 wt%, were blended to polypropylene. The mechanical properties such as yield and tensile strengths, elastic modulus, Izod impact strength, hardness and melt flow index of the blends were investigated. Relationship between type of vinyl acetate and concentrations, mechanical, MFI and morphological properties were explored.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and is highly fatal. During the last several years, research has been primarily based on the study of expression profiles using microarray technology. But now, investigators are putting into practice proteomic analyses of cancer tissues and cells to identify new diagnostic or therapeutic biomarkers for this cancer. Because the proteome reflects the state of a cell, tissue or organism more accurately, much is expected from proteomics to yield better tumor markers for disease diagnosis and therapy monitoring. This review summarizes the most relevant applications of proteomics the biomarker discovery for colorectal cancer.

Even though a modern control concepts have emerged in numerous parts of the world, a building automation is still a field where the position of the classical control is almost exclusive. The main reason is, that for the synthesis of an advanced controller, a decent model, "model for control", is needed. Climate changes, diminishing world supplies of the "traditional" fuels, as well as economical aspects are probably the most driving factors of current effort to save the energy. As the buildings account for about 40% of global final energy use, the efficient building climate control can significantly contribute to the saving effort. Predictive building automation can be used to operate buildings in energy and cost effective manner instead of conventional room automation with minimum retrofitting requirements. In this paper a multi-step ahead error minimization approach to a building modeling is presented and influence of the solar radiation on the quality of the constructed model is examined. Moreover, the concept of the predictive control applied to a building is shown.

Pharmacogenomics in colorectal cancer: The first step for individualized-therapy

Interindividual differences in the toxicity and response to anticancer therapies are currently observed in practically all available treatment regimens. A goal of cancer therapy is to predict patient response and toxicity to drugs in order to facilitate the individualization of patient treatment. Identification of subgroups of patients that differ in their prognosis and response to treatment could help to identify the best available drug therapy according the genetic profile. Several mechanisms have been suggested to contribute to chemo-therapeutic drug resistance: amplification or overexpression of membrane transporters, changes in cellular proteins involved in detoxification or in DNA repair, apoptosis and activation of oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is regarded as intrinsically resistant to chemotherapy. Several molecular markers predictive of CRC therapy have been included during the last decade but their results in different studies complicate their application in practical clinical. The simultaneous testing of multiple markers predictive of response could help to identify more accurately the true role of these polymorphisms in CRC therapy. This review analyzes the role of genetic variants in genes involved in the action mechanisms of the drugs used at present in colorectal cancer.
