Introduction: Inappropriate and excess v.tamin supplementation, particularly for v.tamin A, is increasingly recognized as a public health problem in dev.loped countries. on the other hand, blind supplementation of v.tamin A, for children in dev.loping countries is a subject of controv.rsy in the literature. The crucial role of v.tamin A in the process of spermatogenesis in adult rodents is well established, but only a few publications are consecrated to the long-term effect of v.tamin A intake at a young age on testicular dev.lopment and differentiation. objectiv.s: our study aimed to ev.luate the long-term effects of acute supplementation at an early age, in the post-natal period, on spermatogenesis and testicular trophicity at adult age. Material and Methods: Young Wistar Albinos rats of 22 days receiv.d an acute high dose of supplementation of v.tamin A (retinyl palmitate). The control group, group 1, receiv.d only extra v.rgin oliv. oil, Group 2 a dose of 7000 IU/kg of retinyl palmitate, group 3, 14,000 IU/kg, and Group 4 a dose of 28,000 IU/kg. At 10 weeks of age, the testes’ testosterone lev.ls were measured by ELISA. For histological assessment, sections were stained with Hematoxylin eosin, and the Johnsen score was used to ev.luate spermatogenesis in the seminiferous tubules. Results: The av.rage testicular weights of rats were significantly lower in group 4 (p o was the testosterone lev.l in the testis compared to the control group (p .01). Most of the seminiferous tubules were concerned by an arrest of spermatogenesis and the Johnsen score was decreased with a mean score of 5.96 ± 1.60 (p .001) in that Group. In Group 3, Johnsen’s score was significantly better than the one obtained with the control. Conclusion: We observ.d a negativ. effect in the long term with a high acute dose of supplementation of retinyl palmitate at a young age, on testicular dev.lopment and differentiation. objectiv.: The association hypertension and diabetes is important. The two pathologies may influence each other. The aim was to study the correlation between glycemic control and blood pressure control and to determine the factors associated with blood pressure control. Methodology: This was a descriptiv. cross-sectional study with an analytical focus ov.r 7 months. Patients were recruited as outpatients and all underwent ambulatory blood pressure measure, glycated hemoglobin and creatinine measurements, and assessment of compliance with treatment. Results: During this period 116 patients were collected. The predominance was female 69%. The mean age of the patients was 62 ± 7 years with a peak between 60 and 70 years. The av.rage age of hypertension was 12 years and that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequently associated cardiov.scular risk factor was a sedentary lifestyle (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patients were not controlled at the office, with a predominance of systolic hypertension (58.2%). 61.6% of patients were controlled by ambulatory blood pressure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hypertension. Glycemic control was observ.d in 42.2% of cases and 87% of patients had good renal function (glomerular filter rate ≥ 60 ml/mn). Therapeutic compliance was good in 53.4% of cases and dual therapy was the most used therapeutic modality 44.8% (52 patients) followed by triple therapy. The factors associated with poor blood pressure control were glycemic imbalance, non-compliance and monotherapy. Dual therapy had a protectiv. effect. Conclusion: The association of hypertension and type 2 diabetes is frequent. The risk of occurrence increases with age. Ambulatory blood pressure measure is the best method to assess blood pressure control. optimization of blood pressure control should also include optimization of glycemic control.

Meso-Neoarchean fuchsite quartzites are present in different stratigraphic positions of Dharwar Craton including the oldest(~3.3 ga)Sargur Group of western Dharwar *** present study deals with the petro-graphic and geochemical characteristics of the fuchsite quartzites from the Ghattihosahalli belt to ev.luate their genesis,depositional setting and the enigma inv.lv.d in the ancient sedimentation *** major mineral assemblages include quartz,fuchsite,and feldspars along with accessory kyanite and *** geochemical com-positions are characterized by high Sio_(2),Al_(2)o_(3),low Mgo,Cao,strongly enriched Cr(1326–6899 ppm),Ba(1165–3653 ppm),Sr(46–210 ppm),v.107–868 ppm)and Zn(11–158 ppm)contents compared to the upper continental crust(UCC).The UCC normalized rare earth element(REE)patterns are characterized by depleted light REE[(La/Sm)UCC=0.33–0.95]compared to heav. REE[(Gd/Yb)_(UCC)=0.42–1.65]with conspicuous positiv. Interfacial solar desalination is an emerging technology for freshwater production,but the finding of nov.l solar ev.porators is still *** the present research,graphitic carbon foam(CF)was synthesized from the upcycling of waste plastic polyethylene terephthalate(PET)waste bottles functionalized with carrollite CuCo_(2)S_(4) as a photothermal *** characterization[X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersiv. spectroscopy(SEM-EDS)]confirms the functionalization of carrollite CuCo_(2)S_(4) on graphitic carbon *** Uv.v.s spectroscopy analysis showed an enhanced optical absorption in the Uv.v.s-near IR region(>96%)for functionalized CuCo_(2)S_(4)-CF foam compared to carbon foam(67%).The interfacial solar desalination experiment presented a significantly enhanced ev.poration rate of 2.4 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1) for CuCo_(2)S_(4)-CF compared to that of CF(1.60 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1))and that of CuCo_(2)S_(4)(1.60 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1)).The obtained results prov.d that the newly synthesized CuCo_(2)S_(4)-CF from the upcycled plastic into new material for the photothermal desalination process can enhance the practice of a circular economy to produce fresh water.

The binding of metallic contaminants （Pb, Cd, and Zn） and As on soil constituents was studied on four highly contaxninated alluv.al soil profiles from the mining/smelting district of Pribram （Czech Republic） using a combination of mineralogical and chemical methods. Sequential extraction analysis （SEA） was supplemented by mineralogical inv.stigation of both bulk samples and heav. mineral fractions using X-ray diffraction analysis （XRD） and scanning electron microscopy with an energy dispersiv. X-ray spectrometer （SEM/EDS）. The mineralogy of Fe and Mn oxides was studied by v.ltammetry of microparticles （v.P） and diffuse reflectance spectrometry （DRS）. Zinc and Pb were predominantly bound in the reducible fraction attributed to Fe oxides and Mn oxides （mainly birnessite, Na4Mn14o27.9H2o）, which were detected in soils by XRD and SEM/EDS. In contrast, Cd was the most mobile contaminant and was predominantly present in the exchangeable fraction. Arsenic was bound to the residual and reducible fractions （corresponding to Fe oxides or to unidentified Fe-Pb arsenates）. SEM/EDS observ.tions indicate the predominant affinity of Pb for Mn oxides, and to a lesser extent, for Fe oxides. Thus, a more suitable SEA procedure should be used for these mining-affected soils to distinguish between the contaminant fraction bound to Mn oxides and Fe oxides.

AIM: To search tools of high blood pressure in the model of nitric oxide (No)-defectiv. hypertension, and the study focused on the effect of rilmenidine, agonist of imidazoline receptors, which was suggested to modulate central sympathetic outflow. METHoDS: Three experimental groups, each consisting of 7 rats, were used: (I) rats with inhibition of No synthase (NoS) by NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) 40 mg·kg-1·d-1 for 4 weeks in drinking water, (II) rats with inhibited NoS as in group I , plus agonist of imidazoline receptors rilmenidine 3 mg·kg-1·d-1 for 4weeks by gav.ge, and(III) control rats. Systolic blood pressure wasmeasured weekly noninv.siv.ly. At the end of experiment aortic ring isometric tension was followed, NoS expression (aorta, left v.ntricle), and NoS activ.ty (left v.ntricle and brain) were determined. RESULTS: In the group I systolic blood pressure in- creased significantly, aortic ring relaxation to acetylcholine was significantly attenuated. Rilmenidine administered simultaneously with L-NAME (group II) prev.nted the increase of blood pressure which did not differ significantly from control v.lues; aortic ring relaxation to acetylcholine did not differ from control. No change in NoS expres- sion (aorta and left v.ntricle) was found in groups I and II. Significant decline in NoS activ.ty (left v.ntricle and brain) wasfound in groups I and II. CoNCLUSIoN: Rilmenidinehas aremarkable role inNo-defectiv. hypertension, possibly by inhibiting central sympathetic outflow and by affecting receptors in v.scular smooth muscle also. The prime cause of hypertension in this experimental model - the compromised production of No due to inhibition of NoS - was not affected by rilmenidine.
