This paper is devoted to a new high-accuracy finite difference scheme for solving reaction-convection-diffusion problems with a small diffusivityε.With a novel treatment for the reaction term,we first derive a difference scheme of accuracy O(ε^(2)h+εh^(2)+h^(3))for the 1-D *** the alternating direction technique,we then extend the scheme to the 2-D case on a nine-point *** apply the high-accuracy finite difference scheme to solve the 2-D steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the stream function-vorticity *** examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed difference *** made with some high-order compact difference schemes show that the newly proposed scheme can achieve good accuracy with a better stability。

Bulk geochemistry,Sr,Nd,and O-H isotope systematics are reported for the first time on banded iron formation(BIF)-hosted high-grade iron ore at the northwestern segment of Congo Craton(CC).Located in Mbalam iron ore district,Southern Cameroon,Metzimevin iron ore deposit is a hematite-magnetite BIF system,dominated by SiO_(2)+Fe_(2)O_(3)(97.1 to 99.84 wt%),with low concentrations of clastic elements e.g.,Al_(2)O_(3),TiO_(2),and HFSE,depicting a nearly pure chemical *** REE+Y signature of the iron deposit displays strong positive Eu anomaly,strong negative Ce anomaly,and chondritic to superchondritic Y/Ho ratios,suggestive of formation by mixed seawater-high temperature hydrothermal fluids in oxidising ***^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of the BIF are higher than the maximum^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr evolution curves for all Archean reservoirs(bulk silicate earth,Archean crust and Archean seawater),indicating involvement of continentally-derived components during BIF formation and ***Ɛ_(Nd)(t)(+2.26 to+3.77)and Nd model age indicate that chemical constituents for the BIF were derived from undifferentiated crustal source,between 3.002 and 2.88 *** variable and diverse O and H isotope data(−1.9‰to 17.3‰and−57‰to 136‰respectively)indicate that the Metzimevin iron ore formed initially from magmatic plumes and later enriched by magmatic-metamorphic-modified meteoric *** balance calculations indicate mineralisation by combined leaching and precipitation,with an average iron enrichment factor of>2.67 and SiO_(2)depletion factor of>*** is associated with an overall volume reduction of 28.27%,reflecting net leaching and volume collapse of the BIF protholith.

AIM： To study the prevalence and risk factors associated with triple infection with human immunodeficiency virus （HIV）/hepatitis B virus （HBV）/hepatitis C virus （HCV） in an urban clinic population. METHODS： Retrospective chart review of 5639 patients followed at St. Luke＇s-Roosevelt Hospital HIV Clinic （Center for Comprehensive Care） in New York City, USA from January 1999 to May 2007. The following demographic characteristics were analyzed： age, sex, race and HIV risk factors. A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the influence of demographic factors on acquisition of these viruses. RESULTS： HIV/HBV, HIV/HCV and HIV/HBV/HCV infections were detected in 252/5639 （4.47%）, 1411/5639 （25.02%） and 89/5639 （1.58%） patients, respectively. HIV/HBV co-infections were associated with male gender （OR 1.711; P = 0.005）, black race （OR 2.091, P 〈 0.001）, men having sex with men （MSM）（OR 1.747, P = 0.001）, intravenous drug use （IDU）（OR 0.114, P 〈 0.001）, IDU and heterosexual activity （OR 0.247; P = 0.018）, or unknown （OR 1.984, P = 0.004）.HIV/HCV co-infections were associated with male gender （OR 1.241; P = 0.011）, black race （OR 0.788; P = 0.036）, MSM （OR 0.565; P 〈 0.001）, IDU （OR 8.956; P 〈 0.001）, IDU and heterosexual activity （OR 9.106; P 〈 0.001）, IDU and MSM （OR 9.179; P 〈 0.001）, or transfusion （OR 3.224; P 〈 0.001）. HIV/HBV/HCV coinfections were associated with male gender （OR 2.156; P = 0.015）, IDU （OR 6.345; P 〈 0.001）, IDU and heterosexual activity （OR 9.731; P 〈 0.001）, IDU and MSM （OR 9.228; P 〈 0.001）, or unknown （OR 4.219; P = 0.007）. CONCLUSION： Our study demonstrates that coinfection with HBV/HCV/HIV is significantly associated with IDU. These results highlight the need to intensify education and optimal models of integrated care, particularly for populations with IDU, to reduce the risk of viral transmission.

AIM: To study the effect of long-term ethanol consumption on jejunal lipase and disaccharidase (sucrase, maltase,and lactase) activities in rats and its gender difference. METHODS: Age-matched male and female Wistar rats were fed control or ethanol-containing liquid diets for 12 wk following the Lieber-DeCarli model. According to both theplasma aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities, 40 rats were divided into four groups as follows: male control group (MC), male ethanol group (ME), female control group (FC), and female ethanol group (FE).RESULTS: After ethanol feeding for 12 wk, the results revealed that plasma AST and ALT activities of group MEwere significantly increased by 58% and 92%, respectively,than those of group MC (P＜0.05). Similarly, plasma AST and ALT activities of group FE were also significantly increased by 61% and 188%, respectively, than those of group FC (P＜0.05). Fat accumulation was observed in both ethanol treated groups, while fatty changes were more severe in group FE than those in group ME. The induction of hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) was obviously seen in group ME and group FE, but was not detected in group MC and group FC. Jejunal lipase activity of group ME was significantly increased by 1.25-fold than that of group MC (P＜0.05). In contrast to, sucrase, maltase, and lactase activities of group ME were significantly decreased by 63%, 62% and 67%, respectively, than those of group MC (P＜0.05). Similarly, activities of these three enzymes of group FE were also significantly decreased by 43%, 46% and 52%, respectively, than those of group FC (P＜0.05).There were no significant epithelial changes of the duodenal mucosa in any ***: Long-term ethanol consumption significantly can increase jejunal lipase and decrease jejunal disaccharidase activities in both male and female rats.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has processed the data from the advanced TOVS (ATOVS) onboard NOAA-16 satellite since May 2001. The operational production utilizes the AAPP (ATOVS and AVHRR Processing Package) of EUMETSAT and IAPP (International ATOVS Processing Package) of the University of Wisconsin. For the initial guess profiles, the predicted fields (usually 6 to 12 hour forecasted fields) from the global aviation model of NOAA/NCEP are used. The average number of profiles retrieved from the ATOVS data is about 1,300 for each morning and afternoon orbit at about 18 and 06 UTC, respectively. The retrieved temperature and dew point temperatures are provided to forecasters in real time and used for initialization of prediction models. With the advanced microwave sensor (AMSU; Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit), accuracy of the ATOVS products is expected to be better than that of the TOVS products, especially in cloudy conditions. Indeed, the preliminary results from a validation study with the collocated radiosonde data during a 8-month period, from May to December 2001, for the East Asia region show an improved accuracy of the ATOVS products for cloudy skies versus the TOVS, especially for higher altitudes. The RMS (Root Mean Square) difference between the ATOVS products and radiosonde data is about 1.3°C for both clear and cloudy conditions, except for near the ground and at higher altitudes, at around 200 hPa. There is no significant temporal variation of the error statistics at all pressure levels. In case of the water vapor mixing ratio, the largest difference is shown at lower altitudes, while the accuracy is much better for the clear sky cases than the cloudy sky cases. The bias and RMSE at lower altitudes is about 0.557 g kg−1 and 2.5 g kg−1 and decrease significantly with increasing altitude.
