Dear Editor,Angiosarcoma is a rare malignancy,which accounts for approximately 1%-2%of soft-tissue sarcomas[1].It can occur at any site within the human *** research-ers suggested that site distribution may be different between Eastern Asian and Western countries[1].Sev-eral factors,such as age,stage at diagnosis,performance status,site of the disease,histological grade,tumor size,and visceral involvement,were suggested as prognos-tic factors in angiosarcoma[2-5].However,there is still controversy regarding to which prognostic factors are significantly *** there are no randomized clinical trials for angiosarcoma,its treatments are guided based on guidelines of soft-tissue sarcoma or the results of several retrospective *** surgery is the preferred treatment for angiosarcoma[2-4].Some stud-ies suggested that receiving adjuvant chemotherapy(CT)is associated with better outcome[5],while other studies have shown that adjuvant CT has no significant effect[6,7].Chemoradiotherapy has been reported to be effective in angiosarcoma especially for cutaneous angiosarcoma[8].However,evidence for the efficacy and safety of pal-liative cytotoxic CT is still ***,here,we present our analysis based on the clinical features,tumor characteristics,treatment and outcomes of angiosarcoma patients in an attempt to investigate the significant prog-nostic factors and efficient therapeutics in real clinical practice.

In multicellular organisms, controlling the timing and extent of asymmetric cell divisions （ACDs） is crucial for correct patterning. During post-embryonic root development in Arabidopsis thaliana, ground tissue （GT） maturation involves an additional ACD of the endodermis, which generates two different tissues： the endo- dermis （inner） and the middle cortex （outer）. It has been reported that the abscisic acid （ABA） and gibberellin （GA） pathways are involved in middle cortex （MC） formation. However, the molecular mechanisms under- lying the interaction between ABA and GA during GT maturation remain largely unknown. Through transcriptome analyses, we identified a previously uncharacterized C2H2-type zinc finger gene, whose expression is regulated by GA and ABA, thus named GAZ （GA- AND ABA-RESPONSIVE ZINC FINGER）. Seedlings ectopically overexpressing GAZ （GAZ-OX） were sensitive to ABA and GA during MC formation, whereas GAZ-SRDX and RNAi seedlings displayed opposite phenotypes. In addition, our results indicated that GAZ was involved in the transcriptional regulation of ABA and GA homeostasis. In agreement with pre- vious studies that ABA and GA coordinate to control the timing of MC formation, we also confirmed the unique interplay between ABA and GA and identified factors and regulatory networks bridging the two hor- mone pathways during GT maturation of the Arabidopsis root.

Timing of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy does not influence short-term outcomes in patients with acute variceal bleeding

Aim To examine the association between the timing of endo-scopy and the short-term outcomes of acute variceal bleeding in cirrhotic *** This retrospective study included 274 consecutive patients admitted with acute esophageal variceal bleeding of two tertiary hospitals in Korea. We adjusted confounding factors using the Cox proportional hazards model and the inverse probability weighting （IPW） method. The primary outcome was the mortality of patients within 6 *** A total of 173 patients received urgent endoscopy （ i.e. , ≤ 12 h after admission）, and 101 patients received non-urgent endoscopy （〉 12 h after admission）. The 6-wk mortality rate was 22.5% in the urgent endoscopy group and 29.7% in the non-urgent endoscopy group, and there was no significant difference between the two groups before （P = 0.266） and after IPW （P = 0.639）. The length of hospital stay was statistically different between the urgent group and non-urgent group （P = 0.033）; however, there was no significant difference in the in-hospital mortality rate between the two groups （8.1%vs 7.9%, P = 0.960）. In multivariate analyses, timing of endoscopy was not associated with 6-wk mortality （hazard ratio, 1.297; 95% confdence interval, 0.806-2.089; P = 0.284）.CONCLUSION In cirrhotic patients with acute variceal bleeding, the timing of endoscopy may be independent of short-term mortality.

Role of multidetector computed tomography in patients with acute infectious colitis

BACKGROUND The role of multidetector computed tomography(MDCT)in patients with acute infectious colitis is still *** To examine the usefulness of MDCT in distinguishing the etiology of acute infectious *** Overall,244 patients who met the criteria for acute infectious colitis and visited the Hospital from February 2015 to 2018 were retrospectively enrolled and divided into two groups(bacterial:204,viral:40)according to causes of acute colitis,based on stool *** MDCT parameters,including wall thickening,submucosal edema,mucosal enhancement,serosa involvement,empty colon sign,small bowel involvement,comb sign,continuous distribution,accordion sign,mucosal thickening,and lymph node enlargement,were constructed in a blinded *** MDCT parameters of wall thickening(OR:13.60;95%CI:5.80–31.88;P<0.001),submucosal edema(OR:36.08;95%CI:13.54–96.13;P<0.001),mucosal enhancement(OR:22.55;95%CI:9.28–54.81;P<0.001),serosal involvement(OR:14.50;95%CI:3.33–63.23;P<0.001),empty colon sign(OR:6.68;95%CI: 2.44–18.32;P < 0.001), continuous distribution (OR: 24.09;95%CI: 9.38–61.90;P < 0.001), accordionsign (OR: 9.02;95%CI: 1.12–72.35;P = 0.038), mucosal thickening (OR: 46.41;95%CI: 10.38–207.51;P< 0.001), and lymph node enlargement (OR: 4.39;95%CI: 1.22–15.72;P = 0.023) were significantlyassociated with bacterial colitis. At least one positive finding in four CT outcomes (submucosaledema, mucosal enhancement, continuous distribution, mucosal thickening) in summer showed ahigh probability of bacterial colitis (sensitivity, 41.67;specificity, 92.50;OR: 24.95).CONCLUSIONMDCT provides many clues that can be useful in suggesting a specific etiology of acute infectiouscolitis.

A feasible route to produce 1.1 GPa ferritic-based low-Mn lightweight steels with ductility of 47%

High- and medium-Mn (H/M-Mn) base lightweight steels are a class of ultrastrong structural materials with high ductility compared to their low-Mn counterparts with low strength and poor ***, producing these H/M-Mn materials requires the advanced or high-tech manufacturing techniques, which can unavoidably provoke labor and cost concerns. Herein, we have developed a facilestrategy that circumvents the strength–ductility trade-off in low-Mn ferritic lightweight steels, by employing low-temperature tempering-induced partitioning (LTP). This LTP treatment affords a typical Fe-2.8Mn-5.7Al-0.3C (wt.%) steel with a heterogeneous size-distribution of metastable austenite embeddedin a ferrite matrix for partitioning more carbon into smaller austenite grains than into the larger austenite ones. This size-dependent partitioning results in slip plane spacing modification and lattice strain,which act through dislocation engineering. We ascribe the simultaneous improvement in strength andtotal elongation to both the size-dependent dislocation movement in austenite grains and the controlleddeformation-induced martensitic transformation. The low-carbon-partitioned large austenite grains increase the strength and ductility as a consequence of the combined martensitic transformation andhigh dislocation density-induced hardening and by interface strengthening. Additionally, high-carbonpartitioned small austenite grains enhance the strength and ductility by planar dislocation glide (inthe low strain regime) and by cross-slipping and delayed martensitic transformation (in the high strainregime). The concept of size-dependent dislocation engineering may provide different pathways for developing a wide range of heterogeneous-structured low-Mn lightweight steels, suggesting that LTP maybe desirable for broad industrial applications at an economic cost.

BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal subepithelial tumors(GSTs),incidentally detected during upper gastrointestinal(GI)endoscopy,may be lesions derived from the GI wall or may be caused by compression from external *** general,traumatic neuroma is a benign nerve tumor that results from postoperative nerve injury,occurring in the bile duct as one of the complications after *** is the first case report demonstrating that neuroma of the cystic duct can be incorrectly perceived as a duodenal subepithelial tumor by compressing the duodenal *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 72-year-old man with traumatic neuroma of the cystic duct after *** tumor was mistaken for a duodenal subepithelial tumor on preoperative upper GI endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography due to external compression of the GI *** patient had no symptoms,and his laboratory test results were ***,in a series of follow-up endoscopies,the tumor was found to have grown in size,so it was surgically *** lesion was completely removed by laparoscopic endoscopic cooperative *** patient was discharged on postoperative day 7 without *** Traumatic neuroma of the cystic duct can be mistaken for GSTs in GI endoscopy.

Contemporary trends in radical prostatectomy and predictors of recovery of urinary continence in men aged over 70 years:comparisons between cohorts aged over 70 and less than 70 years

We evaluated contemporary trends in radical prostatectomy(RP)in men aged>70 years and investigated associations of selected variables with recovery of urinary continence(UC)in two age groups:>70 and70 years[n=610]vs70 years gradually increased up to 30.0%,and the rate of robot-assisted RP and neurovascular bundle(NVB)saving increased continually to 80.0%and 67.4%of older patients,*** the rate of recovery of UC within 12 months(3 months)in patients aged>70 years was lower than that in those aged S70 years(81.5%[52.6%]vs 88.6%[60.9%],respectively;both P70 ***,unlike younger patients,only variables(age and MUL),possibly associated with the inhere nt fun ction of the urinary sphi ncter,were predictors of recovery of UC in patients aged>70 years.
