Background:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a major contributor to liver diseases globally,yet there are limited studies investigating the impact of diet and lifestyle factors on its *** study aimed to examine the association between the prevalence of NAFLD and predicted pro-inflammatory high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)***:We included 1,076 Korean adults who underwent a medical examination at the Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Healthcare Center in Korea between May and December 2011 and updated in *** predicted pro-inflammatory hs-CRP score was derived from pro-inflammatory demographic,lifestyle,dietary,and anthropometric factors,and NAFLD was diagnosed using liver ***-adjusted odds ratios(ORs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)of NAFLD odds according to predicted pro-inflammatory hs-CRP score were estimated using logistic regression at a two-sided P<***:Among the 1,076 participants,320 had *** multivariable-adjusted ORs and 95%CIs for NAFLD by tertiles of predicted pro-inflammatory hs-CRP score were 1.00,3.30(2.06,5.30),18.25(10.47,31.81;P<0.0001)in men and women combined,1.00,1.77(1.10,2.84),and 3.26(2.02,5.28;P<0.0001)among men only,and 1.00,3.03(1.39,6.62),and 16.71(7.05,39.63;P<0.0001)among women ***:Predicted pro-inflammatory hs-CRP score was associated with higher odds of *** dietary and lifestyle changes related to lower inflammation might be a valuable strategy for preventing NAFLD.

Oxide-reduced copper powder can be produced efficiently at low cost. The volume shrinkage, porosity, maximum pore size, permeability and thermal conductivity of wicks sintered from two oxide-reduced （OR） powders were compared with one from water-atomized （WA） powder. The green specimens were sintered at temperatures from 800 to 1000 ℃ in a tube furnace under a reduction stream of 10% hydrogen and 90% argon. The results show that the property variations of OR - 100 and WA wicks due to porosity changes have a similar tendency and range. Nine hundred degree celsius is a recommended sintering temperature for producing ideal wicks for use in heat pipes. A smaller maximum pore size can be obtained by increasing the green density.2007 Chinese Society of Particuology and Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Exploration of channel width scaling and edge states in transition metal dichalcogenides

We explore the impact of edge states in three types of transition metal dichalcogenides （TMDs）, namely metallic Td-phase WTe2 and semiconducting 2H-phase MoTe2 and MoS2, by patterning thin flakes into ribbons with varying channel widths. No obvious charge depletion at the edges is observed for any of these three materials, in contrast to observations made for graphene nanoribbon devices. The semiconducting ribbons are characterized in a three-terminal field-effect transistor （FET） geometry. In addition, two ribbon array designs have been carefully investigated and found to exhibit current levels higher than those observed for conventional one-channel devices. Our results suggest that device structures incorporating a high number of edges can improve the performance of TMD FETs. This improvement is attributed to a higher local electric field, resulting from the edges, increasing the effective number of charge carriers, and the absence of any detrimental edge-related scattering.

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))is emerging as a promising visible-light photocatalyst while the low crystallinity with sluggish charge separation/migration dynamics signiﬁcantly restricts its practical ***,synthesizing highly crystalline g-C_(3)N_(4) with sufﬁcient surface activities still remains ***,different from using alkali molten salts which is commonly reported,we propose an approach for synthesis of highly crystalline g-C_(3)N_(4) with FeCl3/KCl rock/molten mixed *** rock salt can serve as the structure-directing template while molten salt provides the required liquid medium for ***,the synthesized photocatalyst showed further enhanced crystallinity and improved surface area along with high p/p*excitation compared with crystalline C_(3)N_(4) prepared from conventional molten-salt *** catalytically advantageous features lead to its superior photocatalytic and piezocatalytic activities with a high reactivity for overall water splitting that is not commonly reported for C_(3)N_(4).This work provides an effective strategy for structural optimization of organic semiconductor based materials and may inspire new ideas for the design of advanced photocatalysts.

Line drawing is a style of image abstraction where the perceptual content of the image is conveyed using distinct straight or curved lines. However,extracting semantically salient lines is not trivial and mastered only by skilled artists. While many parametric filters have successfully extracted accurate and coherent lines, their results are sensitive to parameter choice and easily lead to either an excessive or insufficient number of lines. In this work, we present an interactive system to generate concise line abstractions of arbitrary images via a few user specified strokes. Specifically, the user simply has to provide a few intuitive strokes on the input images, including tracing roughly along edges and scribbling on the region of interest, through a sketching interface. The system then automatically extracts lines that are long,coherent and share similar textural structures to form a corresponding highly detailed line drawing. We have tested our system with a wide variety of images. Our experimental results show that our system outperforms state-of-the-art techniques in terms of quality and efficiency.

This paper reports the pH-induced structural changes in the surface immobilized poly（L-lysine）（PLL）***-dimensional（2D） correlation analysis was applied to the Fourier transform infrared（FTIR）spectra of the surface-immobilized PLL film to examine the spectral changes induced by the alternations of the protonation state of the amino group in the side *** spectral changes in the FTIR spectra of the PLL film were observed between pH 7 and *** decrease in the protonation state of the amino group in the side chain induced spectral changes in the amino group as well as conformational changes in the alky]group in the side *** pH 1-8,the spectral changes in the amino and alkyl groups in the side chain occurred before those of the amide group in the main chain of the surface immobilized PLL film.

The present study proposes a methodology for predicting the mechanical properties of AZ61 and AZ91alloys associated with microstructure,texture and aging parameters and estimating predictor *** this,we investigate quantitative correlations between microstructure,texture and mechanical properties of aged AZ61 and AZ91 rods through machine *** regression analysis focuses on the precipitation behavior of Mg17Al12as the main second phase of Mg-Al-Zn alloys with respect to aging *** simplify data generation,only SEM images were used to quantify the features of discontinuous and continuous *** overcome the lack of data and make the most of the measured data,we devised a method to extend the existing dataset by a factor of 9 using the mean and standard deviation of the measured *** neural networks predicted tensile and compressive yield strengths and resultant yield asymmetry with a high accuracy of over 98%using 11 predictors for a total of *** tree learning quantitatively assessed the importance of predictors in determining the mechanical properties of aged AZ61 and AZ91 rods.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects and molecular targets of Schisandrae Fructus(SF)methanol extract(SFme)in mice with hyperlipidemia induced by high fat ***:We observed changes in body weight,blood serum content of total cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)-cholesterol,and *** extent of accumulation of lipid peroxide due to lipid metabolism disorder also evaluated by measuring malondialdehyde(MDA)*** addition,after getting gene expression in hepatic tissues,target protein of SFme was identified using a protein interaction ***:SFme significantly decreased total cholesterol and triglyceride levels without alteration of body weight in mice,and the livercontent of MDA was statistically decreased by *** expression changes of cyclindependent kinase 1(Cdk1)and leucine-rich repeat kinase 2(Lrrk2)were restored by ***:The effect of SFme on the highfat-diet induced hyperlipidemia via decreasing total cholesterol and triglyceride levels may involve the expression of Cdk1 and Lrrk2 proteins.

Ethanol extract from Gynostemma pentaphyllum ameliorates dopaminergic neuronal cell death in transgenic mice expressing mutant A53T human alpha-synuclein

Gynostemma(G.) pentaphyllum(Cucurbitaceae) contains various bioactive gypenosides. Ethanol extract from G. pentaphyllum(GP-EX) has been shown to have ameliorative effects on the death of dopaminergic neurons in animal models of Parkinson’s disease(PD) induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-and 6-hydroxydopamine. PD patients exhibit multiple symptoms, so PD-related research should combine neurotoxin models with genetic models. In the present study, we investigated the ameliorative effects of GP-EX, including gypenosides, on the cell death of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain of A53 T α-synuclein transgenic mouse models of PD(A53 T). Both GP-EX and gypenosides at 50 mg/kg per day were orally administered to the A53 T mice for 20 weeks.α-Synuclein-immunopositive cells and α-synuclein phosphorylation were increased in the midbrain of A53 T mice, which was reduced following treatment with GP-EX. Treatment with GP-EX modulated the reduced phosphorylation of tyrosine hydroxylase, extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK1/2), Bcl-2-associated death promoter(Bad) at Ser112, and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK1/2) due to α-synuclein overexpression. In the A53 T group, GP-EX treatment prolonged the latency of the step-through passive avoidance test and shortened the transfer latency of the elevated plus maze test. Gypenosides treatment exhibited the effects and efficacy similar to those of GP-EX. Taken together, GP-EX, including gypenosides, has ameliorative effects on dopaminergic neuronal cell death due to the overexpression of α-synuclein by modulating ERK1/2, Bad at Ser112, and JNK1/2 signaling in the midbrain of A53 T mouse model of PD. Further studies are needed to investigate GP-EX as a treatment for neurodegenerative synucleinopathies, including PD. This study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Chungbuk National University(approval No. CBNUA-956-16-01) on September 21, 2016.
