Correlation Structures between Satellite All-Sky Infrared Brightness Temperatures and the Atmospheric State at Storm Scales

This study explores the structures of the correlations between infrared(IR)brightness temperatures(BTs)from the three water vapor channels of the Advanced Baseline Imager(ABI)onboard the GOES-16 satellite and the atmospheric ***-based data assimilation techniques such as the ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF)rely on correlations to propagate innovations of BTs to increments of model state *** the three water vapor channels are sensitive to moisture in different layers of the troposphere,the heights of the strongest correlations between these channels and moisture in clear-sky regions are closely related to the peaks of their respective weighting *** cloudy regions,the strongest correlations appear at the cloud tops of deep clouds,and ice hydrometeors generally have stronger correlations with BT than liquid *** magnitudes of the correlations decrease from the peak value in a column with both vertical and horizontal *** how the correlations decrease depend on both the cloud scenes and the cloud structures,as well as the model *** correlations between BTs and moisture,as well as hydrometeors,in fully cloudy regions decrease to almost 0 at about 30 *** horizontal correlations with atmospheric state variables in clear-sky regions are broader,maintaining non-zero values out to~100 *** results in this study provide information on the proper choice of cut-off radii in horizontal and vertical localization schemes for the assimilation of *** also provide insights on the most efficient and effective use of the different water vapor channels.

This article makes a reinterpretation of Lu Xun's acclaimed prose poetry collection Yecao (Wild grass), written between 1924-27, by reading it in conjunct!on with a rediscovered prototype consisting of seven pieces published in Guomin gongbao (The citizen's gazette) between August and September 1919 under the title Ziyan ziyu (Talking to oneself). Lu Xunl baihua prose style had advanced considerably in the interim, but the author discerns a degree of thematic overlap between the two collections, on the basis of which he proposes answers to key questions that have been asked about Yecao since its first publication, concluding that it is still as fresh and avant-garde a collection to readers today as it was nearly one hundred years ago.

This article begins by articulating a new perspective on the translation of Chinese poetry, arguing that the most important of the three well-known ＂difficulties＂ in the translation of Chinese poetry outlined by Yan Fu 严复（1854-1921）--namely, faithfulness （xin 信）, conveyance （da 达）, and elegance （ya 雅）--should in fact be the one that is least often discussed, da. The author principally interprets da as ＂conveying＂ the mood and then the meaning of the original work into the target language. This position is then illustrated by specific examples from Lu Xun＇s （1881-1936） emotive and highly allusive classical-style poetry, engaging issues regarding its annotation, exegesis, and translation which have arisen in Chinese literary and scholarly circles. The author suggests that since the deployment of affective images has often been designated as an essential and distinguishing characteristic of Chinese poetry, the translation of Chinese poetry into Western languages must make an effort to engage with the original images--not simply resorting to paraphrases or substitutions--and concludes that poetry in translation can and does have important and lasting effects on the literature of the target language.

In the western part of the South Baikal Basin,spatial-temporal distribution of earthquake epicenters shows quasi-periodic seismic *** largest earthquakes that occurred in 1999(M_(W)=6.0)and 2008(M_(W)=6.3)fall within seismic intervals of 1994-2003 and 2003-2012,*** the seismic interval that began in 2013,the ^(234)U/^(238)U activity ratio(AR)in groundwater was monitored assuming its dependence on crack opening/closing that facilitated/prevented water circulation in an active boundary fault of the *** from disordered,high-amplitude fluctuations of AR values to consistent,low-amplitude fluctuations in different monitoring sites were found to be sensitive indicators of both small seismic events occurring directly on the observation area,and of a large remote *** hydroisotopic responses to seismic events were consistent with monitoring data on deformation and temperature variations of *** hydroisotopic effects can be applied for detecting a seismically dangerous state of an active fault and prediction of a large future earthquake.

In this paper I will re-contextualize Lu Xun＇s early thought, as evidenced in his lengthy classical-style essays, which are concerned with issues in literature, philosophy, politics and aesthetics during an era when China was facing profound cultural changes. Part of their significance lies in the way they provide us with an unabashed glimpse at what Lu Xun set out to accomplish, early on, in his new-found literary career. Although they are mainly the product of his final Lehrjahre （years of study） in Japan, the fact that he chose to include the two longest of them in the very first pages of his important 1926 anthology Fen （The grave） indicates that he considered the views expressed therein neither too immature nor too pass- to reprint at the height of his career as a creative writer. In fact, he wrote that one of his reasons for doing so was that a number of the literary figures and issues treated in these essays had, ironically, taken on an increased relevance for China ＂since the founding of the Republic.＂ The central concern of all the essays turns on questions of cultural crisis and transition. What I propose to do in this paper is to re-examine the essays within the context in which they first appeared, i.e., the expatriate Chinese journal Henan, then published in Tokyo as an unofficial organ of the anti-Manchu Tongmenghui （Revolutionary Alliance）.

建筑基坑内支撑的拆除是影响施工进度的重要因素之一。静态破碎技术拆除具有安全、快速方便的优点,为了测试静态破碎剂对支撑梁静态开裂的效果,在不同水剂配比、不同温度的特定条件下进行了膨胀试验。静态破碎膨胀压力试验采用应变片法,用4根不同内径的钢管测量膨胀压力,所用钢管内径分别为24mm、32mm、36mm、39mm,壁厚3mm,钢管长度1000m。利用能量释放率原理评价了静态破碎剂的膨胀性能。结果表明,静态破碎剂的膨胀过程可分为四个阶段,即混合料硬化阶段、裂纹扩展阶段、混合料体积迅速膨胀阶段和体积膨胀减缓阶段,其中以0.28的配比最大,体积膨胀率为4.485。不同水温下的恒定破碎剂配比表明,水的温度反应会提高反应速率,改变体积膨胀率和反应达到的最高温度。膨胀压力检查时,各部位应变计值不同,可以认为是在特定时间内施加破碎剂浆液触发的,除30mm的较小钢管外,其余4根钢管发生井喷,导致破碎剂被喷出来,钢管内径越大,喷射时间越早,喷射出的浆液和气体会因温度较低而停止反应,钢管缓慢冷却,应变计的数值最终降低到稳定。最后,针对支撑梁的孔型布置,采用Abaqus数值模拟方法,模拟了两个不同装药孔在不同孔型布置下混凝土的位移和应力场。布置孔周围出现位移场和应力场,最大拉应力出现在大直径孔周围,孔中线应力和拉应力大于孔边,两孔连接处应力较大,应力大于破坏应变而产生裂纹。

In mountain ecosystems,plants are sensitive to climate changes,and an entire range of species distribution can be observed in a small ***,mountains are of great interest for climate–growth relationship *** this study,the Siberian spruce’s(Picea obovata Ledeb.)radial growth and its climatic response were investigated in the Western Sayan Mountains,near the SayanoShushenskoe *** was performed at three sites along an elevational gradient:at the lower border of the species range,in the middle,and at the *** of growth trends between individual trees was observed at each site,with microsite landscape-soil conditions as the most probable driver of this *** analysis of individual tree-ring width series based on inter-serial correlation was carried out,resulting in two sub-set chronologies being developed for each *** chronologies appear to have substantial differences in their climatic responses,mainly during the cold *** response was not constant due to regional climatic change and the local influence of the nearby Sayano-Shushenskoe *** main response of spruce to growing season conditions has a typical elevational pattern expected in mountains:impact of temperature shifts with elevation from positive to negative,and impact of precipitation shifts in the opposite *** of trees,growing under more severe micro-conditions,are very sensitive to temperature during September–April and to precipitation during October–December,and they record both inter-annual and long-term climatic ***,it would be interesting to test if they indicate the Siberian High anticyclone,which is the main driver of these climatic factors.
