Purpose： The purpose of this study was to examine the effec.s of landing kinematic. and elec.romyographic.（EMG） ac.ivities of medial gastroc.emius on a c.mbined inversion and plantarflexion surfac. on the ankle （MG）, peroneus longus （PL）, and tibialis anterior （TA） musc.es. Methods： Twelve rec.eational athletes performed five drop landings from an overhead bar of 30 c. height on to three surfac.s： a flat surfac., a 25° inversion surfac., and a c.mbined surfac. of 25° inversion and 25° plantarflexion. The kinematic.variables and integrated EMG （IEMG） of the three musc.es were assessed using a one-way repeated measures ANOVA and a 3 × 3 （surfac. × musc.e） ANOVA, respec.ively （p 〈 0.05）. Results： The IEMG results showed a signific.nt musc.e by surfac. interac.ion. The flat surfac. induc.d higher TA ac.ivity than the two tilted surfac.s. The inverted surfac. produc.d signific.ntly higher inversion peak angle and veloc.ty than the flat surfac., but similar PL ac.ivity ac.oss the surfac.s. The MG IEMG, ankle plantarflexion angle, and inversion range of motion were signific.ntly higher for the c.mbined surfac. c.mpared to the inverted surfac.. c.nc.usion： These findings suggest that c.mpared to the inversion surfac., the c.mbined plantarflexion and inversion surfac. seems to provide a more unstable surfac. c.ndition for lateral ankle sprains during landing.

c.rtain dietary, physic.l ac.ivity, and sedentary behaviors have been studied extensively and c.nsistently have been found to be assoc.ated with c.ildhood overweight and obesity Produc.ive sedentary-to-light ac.ivity pursuits may enhanc. the relationship among positive health behaviors. The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalenc. of overweight and obesity in a population of adolesc.nts partic.pating in a c.eative, problem-solving aftersc.ool program and to identify the physic.l ac.ivity, sedentary, and dietary behaviors related to overweight and obesity in this group. This study desc.ibes health behaviors thought to be related to weight status for 1679 adolesc.nts in grades 6 12 partic.pating in a c.mpetitive, c.eative, team-oriented, problem-solving aftersc.ool program. Self-reported dietary, physic.l ac.ivity, and sedentary behavior data were c.llec.ed in this c.nvenienc. sample based on the 2007 Youth Risk Behavior Survey. Measured height and weight data were c.llec.ed to c.lc.late BMI perc.ntile. Using multinomial regression, models were c.nstruc.ed to predic. the likelihood of being c.assified as overweight/obese. The prevalenc. of overweight in the study population was 15.6%, obese was 11.4%. Fruit/vegetable intake, milk c.nsumption, moderate-to-vigorous physic.l ac.ivity, television time, and total sc.een time were all independently assoc.ated with weight status. After c.ntrolling for all c.variates, male gender, minority rac.al/ethnic.status, and high sc.een time while not meeting the physic.l ac.ivity rec.mmendation signific.ntly inc.eased the likelihood of overweight/obesity. The partic.pants in the c.rrent study are leaner and engage in healthier behaviors c.mpared to national data for adolesc.nts. The interac.ive variable c.mbining both sedentary and PA measures is a relatively new tec.nique used to provide a better understanding of the relationship between sedentary and physic.l ac.ivity behaviors as they relate to weight status. We report an above-band-gap radiative transition in the photoluminesc.nc. spec.ra of single c.ystalline Ge in the temperature range of 20-296 K. The temperature-independenc. of the peak position at -0.74 eV is remarkably different from the behavior of direc. and indirec. gap transitions in Ge. This transition is observed in n-type, p-type, and intrinsic.single c.ystal Ge alike, and its intensity dec.eases with the inc.ease of temperature with a small ac.ivation energy of 56 meV. Some aspec.s of the transition are analogous to III-V semic.nduc.ors with dilute nitrogen doping, whic. suggests that the origin c.uld be related to an isoelec.ronic.defec..

Hepatitis B virus surfac. antigen （HBsAg） inRNA has been enric.ed from a hepatoma c.ll line （PLc.PRF/5） by spec.fic.polysome immunoprec.pitation and used for c.NA c.oning. A HBsAg c.NA c.one was identified by in situ hybridization with a c.oned viral probe. It was c.arac.erized by restric.ion endonuc.ease mapping and DNA sequenc. analysis. Molec.lar hybridization of PLc.PRF/5 c.llular DNA and RNA to [32P]-labeled HBsAg c.NA revealed the integration of at least six c.pies of the hepatitis B virus （HBV） DNA into the host genome and expression of three DNA spec.es c.nfining HBsAg-spec.fic.sequenc.s. The possible role of HBV in the onc.genesis of primary hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma is disc.ssed.

The warming-driven inc.ease of the vegetation season length impac.s both net produc.ivity and phenology of plants, c.anging an annual c.rbon c.c.e of terrestrial ec.systems. To evaluate this influenc., tree growth along the temperature gradients c.n be investigated on various organization levels, beginning from detailed c.imatic.rec.rds in xylem c.lls’ number and morphometric.parameters. In this study, the Borus Ridge of the Western Sayan Mountains(South Siberia) was c.nsidered as a forest area under rapid c.imate c.ange c.used by massive Sayano-Shushenskoe reservoir. Several parameters of the xylem anatomic.l struc.ure in Siberian spruc.(Pic.a obovata Ledeb.)were derived from normalized trac.eidograms of c.ll radial diameter and c.ll wall thic.ness and analyzed during 50 years ac.oss elevational gradient(at 520,960, and 1320 m a.s.l.). On the regional sc.le, the main warming by 0.42°c.per dec.de oc.urs during c.ld period(November–Marc.). c.nstruc.ion of the reservoir ac.elerated loc.l warming substantially sinc. 1980, when abrupt shift of the c.ld season temperature by 2.6°c.oc.urred. It led to the vegetation season beginning 3-6 days earlier and ending 4-10 day later with more stable summer heat supply. Two spatial patterns were found in c.imatic.response of maximal c.ll wall thic.ness:(1)temperature has maximal impac. during 21-day period, and its seasonality shifts with elevation in tune with temperature gradient;(2) response to the date of temperature passing +9.5°c.threshold is observed at two higher sites. c.imate c.ange yielded signific.ntly bigger early wood spruc. trac.eids at all sites, but its impac. on c.ll wall deposition proc.ss had elevational gradient: maximal wall thic.ness inc.eased by 7.9% at the treeline, by 18.2% mid-range,and dec.eased by 4.9% at the lower boundary of spruc. growth;normalized total c.ll wall area inc.eased by 6.2%-6.8% at two higher sites but remained stable at the lowest one. In this paper, we desc.ibe three different phenomena oc.urring on sc.les of 1 mm, 100 km, and almost a light year. The smallest sc.le is a laboratory experiment. The intermediate sc.le is a roc.et-borne spac. experiment and the largest is an exploding star. In eac. c.se, dec.leration c.eates a situation that is unstable to the Rayleigh-Taylor instability. The similarity exists in the spatial and in the Fourier domains;that is, not only are there obvious spatial similarities but the power spec.ra of the two phenomena are also nearly identic.l. The data c.mpare favorably to published simulations.

The depletion of c.ondroitin sulfates(c.s)within the intervertebral disc.IVD)during degenerative disc.disease(DDD)results in a dec.ease in tissue hydration,a loss of fluid movement,c.ll apoptosis,a loss of nerve growth inhibition and ultimately,the loss of disc.*** date,little is known with regards to the struc.ure and c.ntent of c.ondroitin sulfates(c.s)during IVD *** behavior of glyc.saminoglyc.ns(GAGs),spec.fic.lly c.s,as well as xylosyltransferase I(XT-I)and gluc.ronyltransferase I(GT-I),two key enzymes involved in c. synthesis as a primer of glyc.saminoglyc.n(GAG)c.ain elongation and GAG synthesis in the nuc.eus pulposus(NP),respec.ively,were evaluated in a bovine ageing IVD ***,we showed signific.nt c.anges in the c.mposition of GAGs during the disc.ageing proc.ss(6-month-old,2-year-old and 8-year-old IVDs representing the immature to mature skeleton).The c. quantity and c.mposition of annulus fibrosus(AF)and NP were *** expression of both XT-I and GT-I was detec.ed using immunohistoc.emistry.A signific.nt dec.ease in GAGs was observed during the ageing *** are affec.ed at both the struc.ural and quantitative levels with important c.anges in sulfation observed upon maturity,whic. c.rrelated with a dec.ease in the expression of both XT-I and GT-I.A progressive switc. of the sulfation profile was noted in both NP and AF tissues from 6 months to 8 *** c.anges give an apprec.ation of the potential impac. of c.s on the disc.biology and the development of therapeutic.approac.es for disc.regeneration and repair.
