Nano-sized silicon carbide(SiC:0wt%,1wt%,2wt%,4wt%,and 8wt%)reinforced copper(Cu)matrix nanocomposites were manufactured,pressed,and sintered at 775 and 875℃in an argon atmosphere.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy were performed to characterize the microstructural *** density,thermal expansion,mechanical,and electrical properties were *** analyses showed that with increasing SiC content,the microstrain and dislocation density increased,while the crystal size *** coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)of the nanocomposites was less than that of the Cu *** improvement in the CTE with increasing sintering temperature may be because of densification of the ***,the mechanical properties of these nanocomposites showed noticeable enhancements with the addition of SiC and sintering temperatures,where the microhardness and apparent strengthening efficiency of nanocomposites containing 8wt%SiC and sintered at 875℃were 958.7 MPa and 1.07 vol%^(−1),*** electrical conductivity of the sample slightly decreased with additional SiC and increased with sintering *** prepared Cu/SiC nanocomposites possessed good electrical conductivity,high thermal stability,and excellent mechanical properties.

Metal sulfides have been widely enticed as battery-type electrodes in supercapacitor devices because of their maximal theoretical ***,their lower conductivity and ion transport kinetics can largely restrict their rate performance,hence the practical usage in fields of demanding high power ***,the design of new electrodes with higher energy and power densities remains a highly challenging *** the best of our knowledge,a novel hierarchical composite of Al-CoS_(2) on nitrogendoped graphene(NG)is prepared based on a zeolite imidazole framework using a simple and scalable hydrothermal *** this hybrid,ultrathin Al-CoS_(2) nanosheet arrays are vertically orientated on the NG framework to limit self-aggregation,hence increasing the electrical property and cycle stability of *** is investigated that the Al/Co feeding ratio plays a crucial role in controlling the obtained hierarchical structure of Al-Co-S sheets and their electrode ***,Al^(3+) can influence remarkably the morphology and electrochemical property of the resultant graphene *** effective synergism is noticed between the redox Al-CoS_(2) and NG resulting in fast electron transfer and chargingdischarging ***,when the as-developed composite is utilized as a positive electrode at an applied current density of 1 A/g,a specific capacitance of 1915.8 F/g is attained with ultra-long cycle stability(96%,10,000 cycles)and an excellent retention rate(~89%).As a consequence,when a solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor(ASC)device is made by combining an Al-CoS_(2) @NG hybrid with a negative electrode made of polyaniline(PANI)derived carbon nanorods(PCNRs),it demonstrates remarkable specific capacitance(188 F/g),energy density(66.9 Wh/kg),and cyclic stability of 92%after 10,000 *** may open the pathway for the application of the next-generation supercapacitors in the future.

Despite the extensive studies conducted on the effectiveness of microwave treatment as a novel rock preconditioning method,there is yet to find reliable data on the rock failure mechanisms due to microwave *** addition,there is no significant discussion on the energy efficiency of the method as one of the important factors among the mining and geotechnical engineers in the *** study presents a novel experimental method to evaluate two main rock failure mechanisms due to microwave treatment without applying any mechanical forces,*** and concentrated *** result shows that the existence of a small and concentrated fraction of a strong microwave absorbing mineral will change the failure mechanism from the distributed heating to the concentrated heating,which can increase the weakening over microwave efficiency(WOME)by more than 10 *** observation is further investigated using the developed coupled numerical *** is shown that at the same input energy,the existence of microwave absorbing minerals can cause major heat concentration inside the rock and increase the maximum temperature by up to three times.

The impulse response method is a frequently used method to calculate ship seakeeping *** this paper,the restoring and Froude-Krylov calculation is conducted with constant evaluation of panel pressures as well as Gauss quadrature and an analytical *** applied panel grid is coarsened by an adaptive algorithm which is based on a normal vector *** comparison of methods is based on grid convergence studies which are followed by a verification of forces with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)results on the fixed duisburg test case in *** with experimental results in head,oblique and following waves show that all integration methods are *** exact integration is numerically sensitive in some *** quadrature is highly accurate;however,the additional effort is not beneficial since the geometrical accuracy has-stronger influence on the force amplitudes than the integration *** grid coarsening reduces the simulation time and is accurate up to a level,where the panel length comes close the *** added resistance at the investigated Froude number of 0.05 shows higher uncertainty levels,this applies to the results of both the numerical methods and model tests.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CbZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CbZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CbZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CbZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CbZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of Medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione(GSH),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pbcl-2-associated X protein(bAX),b-cell lymphoma 2 protein(bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa b(NF-κb)mRNA levels(all PbZ alone(Group VI)exhibited testicular side effects,affecting seminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CbZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.

New Polymer Syntheses Part 60: A Facile Synthetic Route to Polyamides based on Thieno[2,3-b]thiophene and Their Corrosion Inhibition behavior

Polyamides containing thieno[2,3-b]thiophene moiety were prepared via a simple polycondensation reaction of the diaminothieno[2,3-b]thiophene monomer la with different kinds of diacid chlorides （including oxalyl, adipoyl, sebacoyl, isophthaloyl, terephthaloyl, 4,4＇-azodibenzoyl, 3,3＇-azodibenzoyl, p-phenylene diacryloyl） in the presence of LiC1 and NMP as a solvent through lowtemperature solution polycondensation. The chemical structures of model compound and synthesized polyamides were confirmed by FTIR, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy （including 1 H-NMR and 13 C-NMR） and elemental analysis. In addition, the thermal stability, crystallinity structure and surface morphology of synthesized polyamides were characterized via thermogravametric analysis （TGA）, wide-angle X-ray diffraction analysis （WAXD） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. Also, the corrosion inhibition behavior of selected examples ofpolyamides was investigated; the inhibitive effect of the investigated polymers for carbon steel in 1.0 mol＇L-1 HCI was studied using potentiodynamic polarization （PDP） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） methods. PDP results displayed that the polyamides containing thieno[2,3-b]thiophene moiety can be as mixed-type inhibitors. The inhibition efficiency （P, %） was found to be in the range from 67.13% to 96.01%. There is an increase in P by the synthesized polymers in comparison to the starting monomer. The adsorption of these polymers was found to obey Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

This paper presents recent developments towards efficient and reliable methods for roll damping estimation based on numerical simulations as well as model tests using the harmonic excited roll motion(HERM)technique.A newly designed automatic roll damping estimation procedure shows the advantage of a just-in-time post processing of experimental measurement ***-time analysis of the measured roll damping values permits a considerable shortening of the test ***,a large number of investigations can be carried out with relatively manageable effort in order to determine the roll damping behavior of different keel configurations or at operating conditions,e.g.,different sized keels or Froude *** addition,HERM measurement method is applied to investigate the memory *** this purpose,different excitation schemes are introduced and the results are ***,a study of the scale effect on the roll damping properties is conducted,in which experimental and numerical investigations are performed for two scales of a ship ***,a method is developed that significantly reduces the effort of Reynolds average Navier-Stokes(RANS)-based simulations of roll *** reduction of simulation time is achieved by introducing an artificial *** obtained results show that the developed method is very well applicable for numerical as well as in experimental *** the model tests using HERM technique,the model is free and the rudder is used to keep the straight-ahead *** analysis of the numerical and experimental results shows that the influence of the rudder induced force and moment during HERM tests is not negligible and the contribution of the rudder must be taken into account by estimating the roll ***,a new concept is developed to investigate the parametric roll behavior of ships,which allows neglecting the consideration of the complex modelling of free surface waves in the *** the RAN

We perform a computational screening for two-dimensional(2D)magnetic materials based on experimental bulk compounds present in the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database and Crystallography Open Database.A recently proposed geometric descriptor is used to extract materials that are exfoliable into 2D derivatives and we find 85 ferromagnetic and 61 antiferromagnetic materials for which we obtain magnetic exchange and anisotropy parameters using density functional *** the easy-axis ferromagnetic insulators we calculate the Curie temperature based on a fit to classical Monte Carlo simulations of anisotropic Heisenberg *** find good agreement with the experimentally reported Curie temperatures of known 2D ferromagnets and identify 10 potentially exfoliable 2D ferromagnets that have not been reported *** addition,we find 18 easy-axis antiferromagnetic insulators with several compounds exhibiting very strong exchange coupling and magnetic anisotropy.

Starting from 4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-(1H)-3-pyridinecarbonitrile 1 and 3-aminopyrazolopyridine 4, a series of cyanopyri- dine derivatives 3a-i, Schiff bases 5a-f, urea and thiourea derivatives 6a-b, amide derivatives 7a-h, pyridopyra- zolopy-rimidine 8a-b and pyridopyrazolotriazine 10a-b were synthesized. Activities of eleven representative compounds were evaluated against A-549 (lung), HEPG2 (liver) and HCT-116 (colon) cancer cell lines. The findings revealed that some of the synthesized compounds showed remarkable anticancer activities, especially 8b which displayed the highest activity among the tested compounds with IC50 equal to 2.9, 2.6 and 2.3 μmol. In addition to synthesis and biological activities, we present discussion about the rationale of the design and activity of the potent compound 8b using struc- ture-based modeling tools.

Photoactive aluminum doped ZnO(AlZnO)was synthesized by sol-gel *** that,AlZnO photocatalyst was deposited on five carbon-based materials(CbMs)using ultrasonic route followed by solid-state mixing using ball *** CbMs used were poly aniline(PANI),carbon nitride(CN),carbon nanotubes(CNT),graphene(G),and carbon nanofibers(CNF).The crystal phases,elemental compositions,morphological,and optical properties of the AlZnO@CbMs composites were *** results revealed that two of AlZnO@CbMs composites exhibited superior bleaching efficiency(100%removal)and photocatalytic stability(three cycles)for 50μmol/L Methylene blue(Mb)contaminated water after 60 min irradiation in visible light at pH 6.5,0.7%H2O2,and 5 g/L inorganic *** optimum conditions,AlZnO@CbMs nanocomposites were employed for the treatment of mixed dyestuffs composed of Mb,Methyl Orange(MO),Astrazone blue FRR(bb 69),and Rhodamine b(Rhb)dyes under dark,ultraviolet,visible,and direct *** mixed dyestuffs,the AlZnO@G achieved the highest dye sorption capacity(60.91μmol dye stuffs/g)with kinetic rate 8.22×10^-3 min^-1 in 90 min via multi-layer physisorption(Freundlich isotherm)on graphene *** additions,AlZnO@CN offered the highest photo-kinetic rate(Kphoto)of^54.1×10^-3 min^-1(93.8%after 60 min)under direct ***,the selective radical trapping experiment confirmed that the holes and oxidative superoxide radicals are crucial on dyes photodegradation *** to their superior performance,AlZnO@G and AlZnO@CN nanocomposites can offer an effective in-situ solar-assisted adsorption/photocatalytic remediation of textile wastewater effluents.
