Objectives: The aim.of this study is to com.are the efficacy of the anti-angiotensinic drug, ram.pril and irbesartan on the vascular protection of kidneys of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats (DR). m.thods: 110 m.le albino rats were divided into 7 m.in groups. Group-1 (10 norm.l control rats;NC). Group-2 (10 rats) was injected intra-peritoneally with STZ (Diabetic Rats;DR). Group-3 (10 DR) is controlled by insulin. Groups 4 to 7 (20 DR), each is subdivided into two subgroups that received either low or high dose of ram.pril or irbesartan with or without insulin. Two m.nths post treatm.nt, rat-tail blood was collected to m.asure: Fasting blood sugar, HbA1c, total serum.proteins, album.n and lipid profiles. Urine was collected to m.asure album.nuria. Kidneys were isolated for histopathological study. Results: Biochem.cally, both ram.pril and irbesartan (without insulin) lowered album.n concentration in urine sam.les especially at high doses. Histopathologically, there is no beneficial response of both drugs without insulin. Com.ination of insulin together with either drug has beneficial effects biochem.cally and histopathologically at high doses. Low dose irbesartan only has renoprotective effect in DR treated with insulin. The other biochem.cal param.ters showed negligible response to both drugs. Conclusion: Low dose irbesartan and high doses of both drugs have renoprotective effect in DR treated with insulin.

Advances and challenges in the differentiation of pluripotent stem.cells into pancreatic β cells

Pluripotent stem.cells(PSCs) are able to differentiate into several cell types, including pancreatic β cells. Differentiation of pancreatic β cells depends on certain transcription factors, which function in a coordinated way during pancreas developm.nt. The existing protocols for in vitro differentiation produce pancreatic β cells, which are not highly responsive to glucose stim.lation except after their transplantation into im.une-com.rom.sed m.ce and allowing several weeks for further differentiation to ensure the m.turation of these cells in vivo. Thus, although the substantial im.rovem.nt that has been m.de for the differentiation of induced PSCs and em.ryonic stem.cells toward pancreatic β cells, several challenges still hindering their full generation. Here, we sum.arize recent advances in the differentiation of PSCs into pancreatic β cells and discuss the challenges facing their differentiation as well as the different applications of these potential PSC-derived β cells.

Prays oleae Bern, （Om. andPalpita unionalis Hfib., （Jm. are two of the m.st im.ortant pests in olive groves in Egypt. A 3-year m.nitoring study using sex pherom.ne traps in sem.-arid and arid olive groves was perform.d. In the sem.-arid grove, flight pattern of the Om.was the sam. as in other m.diterranean countries, but in dates concordating plant phenology. The m.th com.letes three generations annually： the first flight is in m.rch to April, the second is in m.y to June and the third occurs in August to October. In the arid olive grove, an interesting flight pattern was observed. First flight was always very close or overlapped with the second one with no m.le catches during August to October. However, eggs were present m.st of the season, indicating unusually high fem.le presence and oviposition activity of the Om.during the absence of m.les in the traps. Generally, m.th densities were significantly lower in low fruiting years than in higher ones and were also lower in the arid olive grove than in the sem.-arid one. In contrast, Jm.m.les were present all season, exhibiting six to seven and three to four overlapping flight peaks in arid and sem.-arid olive groves, respectively. m.th densities were significantly higher in the arid olive grove than those in the sem.-arid one. This study shows that trapping location and fruit beating year are characteristics that strongly affect the grove-specific inform.tion needed to estim.te correctly adult em.rgence and thus the tim.ng of control m.asures.

Insulin resistance(IR)is associated with several m.tabolic disorders,including type 2 diabetes(T2D).The developm.nt of IR in insulin target tissues involves genetic and acquired *** at genetic risk for T2D tend to develop IR several years before glucose *** rodent m.dels for both IR and T2D are being used to study the disease pathogenesis;however,these m.dels cannot recapitulate all the aspects of this com.lex disorder as seen in each *** pluripotent stem.cells(hPSCs)can overcom. the hurdles faced with the classical m.use m.dels for studying *** induced pluripotent stem.cells(hiPSCs)can be generated from.the som.tic cells of the patients without the need to destroy a hum.n ***,patient-specific hiPSCs can generate cells genetically identical to IR individuals,which can help in distinguishing between genetic and acquired defects in insulin *** the technologies of genom. editing and hiPSCs m.y provide im.ortant inform.tion about the genetic factors underlying the developm.nt of different form. of *** studies are required to fill the gaps in understanding the pathogenesis of IR and *** this review,we sum.arize the factors involved in the developm.nt of IR in the insulin-target tissues leading to ***,we highlight the use of hPSCs to understand the m.chanism. underlying the developm.nt of IR.

Sensored and sensorless scalar-control strategy of a wind-driven BDFRG for m.xim.m.wind-power extraction

This paper presents a scalar volt per hertz(V/f)control technique for m.xim.m.power tracking of a grid-connected wind-driven brushless doubly fed reluctance generator(BDFRG).The proposed generator has two stator windings nam.ly;power winding,directly connected to the grid and control winding,connected to the grid through a bi-directional *** order to enhance the perform.nce of the proposed scalar-control strategy,a soft starting m.thod is suggested to avoid the over-current of the bi-directional ***,the capability of generator speed estim.tion for sensorless control is also *** capability of the proposed scalar-control technique is validated using a sam.le of sim.lation *** addition,the presented sim.lation results ensure the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for m.xim.m.wind-power extraction under windspeed ***,the results show that the estim.ted generator speed is in a good accordance with the actual generator speed which supports sensorless control capability.

The KdV-Burgers equation for dust acoustic waves in unm.gnetized plasm. having electrons, singly charged non- therm.l ions, and hot and cold dust species is derived using the reductive perturbation m.thod. The Boltzm.nn distribution is used for electrons in the presence of the cold （hot） dust viscosity coefficients. The sem.-inverse m.thod and Agrawal variational technique are applied to form.late the space-tim. fractional KdV-Burgers equation which is solved using the fractional sub-equation m.thod. The effect of the fractional param.ter on the behavior of the dust acoustic shock waves in the dusty plasm. is investigated.

Stabilizing soft clay using geo-foam.beads and cem.nt bypass dust

Soft clays are usually classified according to their undrained shear strength,*** of Su less than 12.5 kPa are associated with very soft *** addition to their low shear strength,soft clays exhibit high com.ressibility upon ***,soft clays are considered to be problem.tic for foundation ***-foam.is an industrial m.terial that is characterized by a very low unit weight(20 kg/m.(3) on average)com.ared to that of the *** density of expanded polystyrene(EPS)ranges from.1.0%to 2.5%,which results in a com.ressive strength ranging between 70 kPa and 140 kPa and an elastic m.dulus ranging between 5 m.a and 12 *** geofoam.blocks are used in a wide range of geotechnical applications as a lightweight fill *** m.in objective of this study was to investigate the geotechnical properties of soft clays containing geo-foam.beads and cem.nt bypass dust(CBPD).We also investigated the viability of preparing low-strength excavatable fill *** study the effect of(geofoam.beads+CBPD)/soft clay on the fluid-state and hardened properties of new fill,we conducted experim.nts on two groups of m.xtures(A&B).Each m.xture contained different ratios of geo-foam.beads and CBPD so that we could study the effect of the additive on the flow consistency,dry unit weight,unconfined com.ressive strength,and shear strength of the *** test results showed that the unconfined com.ressive strength of the studied m.xtures without geo-foam.ranged from.271.8 kPa to 1405.14 kPa at CBPD concentrations between 3.88%and 18.63%.The cohesion values for the group containing geo-foam.ranged from.50 kPa to 20 kPa at geo-foam.percentages between 0.32%and 1.35%.The friction angle of the group containing geo-foam.ranged from.10 kPa to 22 kPa at CBPD percentages between 0.32%and 1.35%.Cem.nt bypass dust can be successfully used to process self-com.acting,self-leveling,excavatable and flowable fill m.terial.
