The a.m of this study is to detect the risk fa.tors a.socia.ed with otitis media.with effusion (OME) a.ong children with a.e ra.ged from 6 months to 2 yea.s. Ma.eria.s a.d Methods: it is a.cross-sectiona. study 500 children were selected from a.siut University Hospita. clinics through multi-sta.ed ra.domized sa.pling. Pa.ents of these children were interviewed with a.structured questionna.re. Clinica. exa.ina.ion, including otoscopic exa.ina.ion a.d tympa.ometry wa. performed for ea.h child. Results: There wa. no sta.istica. significa.t rela.ionship between OME a.d gender, a.e, mother job. There is sta.istica. significa.t rela.ionship between OME a.d brea.t feeding, using pa.ifier, mother educa.ion, sibling of children a.d exposure to pa.sive smoking. Conclusion: There a.e multiple risk fa.tors a.socia.ed with OME in children between 6 months to 2 yea.s of a.e.

Dia.etic retinopa.hy(DR) is the most fea.ed ocula. ma.ifesta.ion of dia.etes. DR is cha.a.terized by progressive retina. da.a.e tha. ma. eventua.ly result in blindness. Clinica.ly, this blindness is ca.sed by progressive da.a.e to the retina. microva.cula.ure, which lea.s to ischemia. retina. swelling, a.d neova.cula.iza.ion. Retinopa.hy is a.socia.ed with both type 1 a.d type 2 dia.etes, with DR being the lea.ing ca.se of new onset blindness in United Sta.es a.ults. Despite this strong a.socia.ion with dia.etes, it must be noted tha. the development of retinopa.hy lesions is multifa.toria. a.d ma. occur in individua.s without a. esta.lished history of dia.etes. Metabolic syndrome is a.multifa.toria. condition of centra. obesity, hypertriglyceridemia. dyslipidemia. hypertension, fa.ting hyperglycemia. a.d insulin resista.ce. a.though severa. studies exa.ined the individua. components observed in the metabolic syndrome in rela.ion to the development of DR, there is conflicting da.a.a. to the a.socia.ion of the metabolic syndrome with the development of retinopa.hy lesions in nondia.etic subjects. This review will summa.ize the current litera.ure on the evidence of the metabolic syndrome on retinopa.hy in subjects with a.d without a. esta.lished history of dia.etes. This review will a.so discuss some of the mecha.isms through which metabolic syndrome ca. contribute to the development of retinopa.hy.

Objective: In this study we a.med to compa.e the effects of submucosa. ca.teriza.ion of the inferior turbina.e with or without inferior pa.tia. turbinectomy. Ma.eria.s a.d methods: In this prospective cohort study, 60 pa.ients with inferior turbina.e hypertrophy were ra.domized a.d divided into two groups. The first one wa. submitted to submucosa. ca.teriza.ion a.socia.ed with pa.tia. turbinectomy, a.d the second one only submucous ca.teriza.ion. Five items were a.sessed to compa.e both methods: pa.n, na.a. bleeding, sca.ring, crusta.ion a.d na.a. a.r wa. pa.ency. Follow-up wa. performed on da.s 1, 14, 30 a.d 3 months la.er. Results: In both groups crusting forma.ion wa. simila.. Rea.tiona.y hemorrha.e wa. more common in turbinectomy group. Sca.ring showed better results in the turbinectomy group in the first month postopera.ive, a.rwa. pa.ency showed good results in 80% of the pa.ients with turbinectomy. Conclusion: Submucosa. ca.teriza.ion with inferior pa.tia. turbinectomy ha. yielded better na.a. pa.ency when compa.ed to submucosa. electroca.tery a.la.ion a.one.

Objective: To determine the preva.ence of a.trovirus, norovirus, a.enovirus in children below five yea.s old with dia.rhea.by multiplex reverse tra.scripta.e polymera.e cha.n rea.tion(RT-PCR) a.ong with rota.irus a.tigen detection by enzyme linked immunosorba.t ***: The study wa. conducted on children below five yea.s old compla.ning of a.ute dia.rhea. The study included stool exa.ina.ion by molecula. method for detection of norovirus, a.enovirus a.d a.trovirus by multiplex RT-PCR. Rota.irus a.tigen wa. detected in the stool by enzyme linked immunosorba.t ***: The study included 100 children below 5 yea.s old with a.ute *** RT-PCR wa. positive in 34% of the children. The most frequently detected virus wa. rota.irus(44%), followed by norovirus(30%), a.enovirus(20%) a.d a.trovirus(14%). The clinica. symptoms were more significa.tly a.socia.ed with vira. dia.rhea.such a. fever(P = 0.03), bloody dia.rhea.P = 0.025), vomiting(P = 0.000 1) a.d wa.ery dia.rhea.(P = 0.05). The frequency of dia.rhea.with vira. pa.hogen wa. significa.tly presented in winter sea.on(39.7%). There were significa.t frequencies of norovirus a.d a.enovirus in a.e ra.ging 1–2 yea.s old(P = 0.04, P = 0.01 respectively).Conclusions: The present study spotlights on the preva.ence of vira. pa.hogens a. a. importa.t etiology in dia.rhea.in children below five yea.s old. a.trovirus, norovirus a.d a.enovirus a.e common a.ong with rota.irus in this group of pa.ients. Multiplex PCR lea.s to improve the labora.ory dia.nosis of these viruses a.ong with a.tigen detection method. Further longitudina. studies a.e required to eva.ua.e the epidemiologica. da.a.a.socia.ed with these viruses a.d for proper ma.a.ement of such dra.tic infection.
