Ethical banks can be defined as financial institutions providing both social and economic profitability for the society and environment. Placement of assets and avoiding social exclusion are significant factors that differentiate ethical banks and the rest of financial intermediaries. Ethical banking is a new concept in Turkey. This paper analyzes the situation of ethical banking by examining the significant differences in lending behaviors of 49 Turkish banks in terms of their functions and ownership structures. We conducted non-parametric tests of Kruskal Wallis, Jonckheere-Terpstra, Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Wald-Wolfowitz. We found that in terms of ownership structure, state-owned banks are more ethical than private banks when the placement of assets and avoiding social exclusion factors are considered. In terms of function, participation banks locate their funds to social value generating sectors more ethically than deposit and development banks. From the avoiding exclusion aspect, deposit banks are more ethical than other functional banking groups （i.e., participation and development banks）.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible therapeutic or protective effects of Helichrysum plicatum *** ethanol extract（HPE）against gentamicin-induced ***-six Sprague Dawley male rats weighing between 200 and 250 g were used as live *** were formed into six groups containing 6rats each and were allowed to adapt to laboratory conditions for 7 *** Ⅰ：control,5%DMSO intraperitoneal（i.p.）;Group Ⅱ：HPE 100 mg/（kg·d）i.p.;Group Ⅲ：HPE 200 mg/（kg·d）i.p.;Group Ⅳ：gentamicin as 80 mg/（kg·d）i.p.;Group Ⅴ：gentamicin as 80 mg/（kg·d）i.p.＋HPE 100 mg/（kg·d）i.p.;and Group Ⅵ：gentamicin as 80 mg/（kg·d）i.p.＋HPE 200 mg/（kg·d）*** 8 *** treatment,serum,liver,and kidney tissues were used to assess blood urea nitrogen（BUN）,creatinine,enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants,and lipid *** significantly increased serum BUN,creatinin,and liver and kidney levels of malondialdehyde（MDA）.It also decreased the activity of catalase（CAT）,glutathione peroxidase（GPx）,and superoxide dismutase（SOD）.Treatment with the HPE 100 mg/kg reversed gentamicin-induced alterations as evidenced by decreased serum BUN and creatinin,liver and kidney oxidant marker,and tubular necrosis as well as by an increase in antioxidant *** was found that HPE 200 mg/kg significantly increased liver and kidney tissue MDA levels in nephrotoxicity in *** a result,these findings support the proposition that HPE in 100 mg/kg dose demonstrates in the kidney and liver as free radicals and scavenger to prevent the toxic effects of gentamicin in both the biochemical and histopathology parameters.

Aim: The purpose of the study was to assess the musculoskeletal pain frequency and intensity, to pinpoint the factors affecting the pain and to research their effect on patients’ quality of life. Methods: 203 patients over 65 who came to our Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation clinic were included in the study. Intensity of comorbid diseases were calculated by using Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (CIRS). Geriatric Pain Measure-24 (GPM) was used to assess the pain intensity, Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS) was used to detect the presence of depression and Short Form-36 (SF-36) was used to determine quality of life. Results: The median age of the patients was 72.9 ± 6.36 (65 - 92) years. 97% of patients complained of pain. GPM total value mean of the patients was 61.9 (0 - 99.9). GPM scores were significantly higher in patients who were female (p Conclusions: Low education, being single, presence of comorbidities and being a housewife all relates to pain intensity, yet the most important factors are being female and presence of depression. Pain intensity is connected to low quality of life. We think this study will show a path to program geriatric population’s healthcare needs.

Low Concentration of CO Gas Sensor by Atomic Layer Deposition

In this study, Al/TiO2/Al2O3/p-Si was fabricated as a gas sensor. TiO2 and Al2O3 were grown by Atomic Layer Deposition method. The prepared film was tested in various gas concentrations at different operating temperatures ranging between 27 ℃ to 177 ℃. The sensitivity increases with increasing gas concentration and operating temperature which have a direct effect on sensing surface. The gas sensing mechanism could be explained with the surface controlled type based on the change of the electrical conductance of the semiconducting material. This mechanism is controlled by CO molecules and the amount of chemisorbed oxygen on the surface which is associated with temperature. Sample exhibits the basic parameters for gas sensors applications which are good stability, reproducibility and high sensitivity to CO gas which are. In addition, the response and recovery times are measured 19 and 26 s, respectively.

Morphological and Physico-Chemical Characteristics and Classification of Vertisol Developed on Deltaic Plain

The name of Vertisol is derived from Latin “vertere” meaning to invert. This case restricts development of soil horizons in profile. These soils have the capacity to swell and shrink, inducing cracks in the upper parts of the soil and distinctive soil structure throughout the soil. The formation of these specific features are caused by a heavy texture, a dominance of swelling clay in the fine fraction and marked changes in moisture content. The swell-shrink behavior is attributed to the wetting and drying of the soil mass. In this study, morphology, physico-chemical characteristics and classification of vertisols that were formed on alluvial delta plains, were investigated. Those soils formed on the Bafra Plain found in the K?z?l?rmak Delta and located in the central Black Sea region of Turkey. All studied Vertisols are characterised by a dark colour in surface soil, a heavy clayey texture, hardpan formation under top soil (high bulk density a high compaction) and very high COLE values. In addition, they have deep wide-opened desiccation cracks at the surface, slickensides at the middle part of the profiles and a poor differentiation of their horizons. Physico-chemically, the studied soils are slightly basic to very basic, non-saline and poor in organic matter, which is slightly higher in the surface horizon. In addition, cation exchange capacity, sum of exchangeable bases and base saturation of soils are very high. On the basis of morphological and physicochemical analysis, soil profiles were classified as Sodic Haplustert, Typic Calciaquert, Sodic Calciustert according to Soil Taxonomy (Soil Survey Staff, 1975 and 1999) and as Sodic Vertisol and Calcic Vertisol according to FAO/ISRIC (2006) classification systems.

Microbiologically influenced corrosion is a global problem especially materials used in marine *** that respect,inhibitors are widely used to control fouling and corrosion in marine *** techniques used in inhibitor production are expensive and considered hazardous to the ***,scientists are motivated to explore natsural and green products as potent corrosion inhibitors especially in nano *** this study,antibacterial and anticorrosive properties of green silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)were studied through weight loss,electrochemical characterization,and surface analysis *** corrosion of copper(Cu)in artificial seawater(ASW),Halomonas variabilis(***)NOSK,and ***+AgNPs was monitored using electrochemical measurements like open circuit potential(OCP),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),and potentiodynamic polarization *** showed excellent antibacterial activity against pathogenic *** studies demonstrate a noticeable decrease in OCP and current density in ASW containing ***+AgNPs compared to both ASW and ASW inoculated with bacterium,which confirmed the decrease of corrosion rate of ***,the obtained voltammograms show that the silver nanoparticles were adsorbed on the copper electrode surface from the corrosion ***,the results prove that the novel idea of green silver nanoparticles acts as an anticorrosive film in the marine environment.

Multiple osteolytic lesions are usually associated with metastatic involvement of the bone. However metabolic bone diseases should also take their place in differential diagnosis. Here, we describe a primary hyperparathyroidism case with full-blown osteolytic lesions wich was diagnosed at first sight with having metastatic bone involvement. PET CT scan and laboratory results excluded a metastatic bone malignancy. Elevated serum calcium of 13.16 mg/dl, decreased serum phoshorus of 1.4 mg/dl and high intact-PTH level of 1054.7 pg/ml pointed out primary hyperparathyroidism. Sonographic examination revealed two adenomas of 2.9 × 3.3 mmand 3.3 ×2.7 mmin the left superior and right inferior parathyroid glands, respectively. Scintigraphy confirmed the presence of adenoma on the left.
