Background： In the German Democratic republic（GDr）, resin tapping in Scots pine（Pinus sylvestris L.） forests was a major economic activity, and resin-tapped stands are frequently found up until this day. In this study, we investigate how the mechanical damage caused by resin tapping affects the growth and climate sensitivity of Scots pine using a dendroecological ***： Tree-ring samples were collected from resin-tapped and non-tapped trees in two forest areas in northeastern Germany, and tree-growth patterns were analyzed. For elucidating effects of resin tapping on the climate sensitivity of pine growth, climate-growth relationships and pointer years were ***： We observed that resin tapping positively affects tree growth at breast height, likely as wood formation is concentrated on the living part of the bole（i.e. after tapping there is no growth taking place on the tapping face due to the mechanical damage done to the cambium）. We observed no differences in the climate sensitivity of tapped and non-tapped trees, nor in the occurrence of extreme growth ***： Our results highlight that resin extraction is, apart from inflicting mechanical damage, not altering the sensitivity of Scots pine growth to climatic conditions.

To function optimally,human blood natural killer(NK)cells need to communicate with other immune ***,it has been shown that NK cells communicate with 6-sulfo LacNAc dendritic cells(slanDCs),which are able to stimulate NK cells in *** this study,we investigated how slanDCs regulate the level of NK cell *** secretion of interleukin(IL)-1βby slanDCs during coculture with NK cells increased as a result of signaling via intercellular adhesion molecule-1 on slanDCs following its interaction with lymphocyte functionassociated antigen-1 on NK ***-1βinduced the expression of Fas receptor(CD95)on NK *** binding of Fas ligand(CD178)to CD95 induced the apoptosis of activated NK ***,IL-1βalso induced increased cyclooxygenase-2 expression in slanDCs,which in turn enabled the cells to secrete prostaglandin(PG)-***,PGe2 acted as a suppressing agent,tuning down the activation level of NK *** summary,IL-1βlimits the level of NK cell activation by inducing apoptosis and suppression as a homeostatic regulatory function.

Instrumental neutron activation analysis(INAA) of 14 single oldhamite grains separated from the Qingzhen chondrite (eH3) for refractory(La,Ce,Sm ,eu,Yb,Lu,Ca,Sc,Hf, and Th),volatile (Na,Cr,Zn,Se,Br,etc.)and siderophile elements (Fe,Ni,Co,Ir,Au ,and As) revealed that oldhamite is highly rich in refractory *** mineral serves as the principal carrier of ree and contains about 80% of the rees in the Qingzhen enstatite chondrite .Furthermore, the large enrichment of Lree relative to Hree is noticed in oldhamite from the Qingzhen .In general, the oldhamite from metal-sulfide assemblages is richer in ree than that from the matrix,i.e.,the earlier the oldhamite grains condensed, the richer they are in ree. *** is also rich in vol-atile elements such as Se,Br, *** terms of the distribution of trace elements in oldhamitc from the Qingzhen ,the chondrite is srggested to have resulted from high-temperature condensation of solar nebula.

Cytosolic chaperones are involved in the regulation of cellular protein homeostasis in general. Members of the families of heat stress proteins 70 （Hsp70） and 90 （Hsp90） assist the transport of preproteins to organelles such as chloroplasts or mitochondria. In addition, Hsp70 was described to be involved in the degradation of chloroplast preproteins that accumulate in the cytosol. Because a similar function has not been established for Hsp90, we analyzed the influences of Hsp90 and Hsp70 on the protein abundance in the cellular context using an in vivo system based on mesophyll protoplasts. We observed a differential behavior of preproteins with respect to the cytosolic chaperone-dependent regulation. Some preproteins such as pOe33 show a high dependence on Hsp90, whereas the abundance of preproteins such as pSSU is more strongly dependent on Hsp70. The e3 ligase, C-terminus of Hsp70-interacting protein （Chip）, appears to have a more general role in the control of cytosolic protein abundance. We discuss why the different reaction modes are comparable with the cytosolic unfolded protein response.

Objective:To determine if meat or soy protein dietary supplementation will enhance the neuro-cognitive performance of HIV-affected children at-risk of malnutrition and food ***:A randomized,double-blind,controlled intervention trial evaluated the effect of nu-tritional supplementation on the neurocognitive outcomes of 49 HIV-affected school-age children in western *** intervention consisted in providing the mother,target child,and siblings with one of three isocaloric biscuit-type supplements-soy,wheat,or beef-on 5 days per week for 18 *** outcomes of the target children were assessed by a battery of eight measures and followed up longitudinally for up to 24 ***:Mixed effects modeling demonstrated significant differences in the rates of increase over time among all three groups(F test degrees of freedom of 2,Pr raven’s progressive matrices performance,but not for verbal meaning,arithmetic,digit span backward,forward,and total,embedded figure test,and Beery visual-motor integration ***:HIV-affected school-age children provided with soy protein supplementation showed greater improvement in nonverbal cognitive(fluid intelligence)performance compared with peers who received isocaloric beef or wheat *** nutrients may have an enhancing effect on neurocognitive skills in HIV-affected school-age children.
