AIM To describe all abnormal histological findings and their associated endoscopic presentation in patients using mycophenolate mofetil(MMF).METHODS A retrospective review of all individuals prescribed MMF within 6 mo of a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy between 07/2009 and 09/2015 was performed within Northwell Health *** were analyzed for age,gender,procedure indication,MMF indication,and both gross and microscopic *** reports with abnormal histology were *** One hundred and eighty-four procedures from 170 patients were found,of which 39 met inclusion ***-one point three percent were *** was used for solid organ transplant in 71.8%.Diarrhea was the indication for 71.8% of *** percent of reports revealed gross and microscopic abnormalities while 41.0% had only microscopic *** 11 patients' reports(28.2%) indicated a specific histopathology of MMF *** the entire group,only 23.1% of abnormal histology was isolated proximal to the splenic *** Our results demonstrate a high rate of left sided disease and microscopic findings without gross mucosal abnormalities among patients using ***,a broader definition of MMF-colonopathy may be appropriate,with a majority of our abnormal histology falling outside of the more narrowly defined MMF-colitis *** the high frequency of isolated microscopic abnormalities and distal disease,sigmoidoscopy with random biopsies may be an appropriate,less invasive initial endoscopic examination in selected MMF patients.

Background:Traumatic pancreatic injuries are rare,and guidelines specifying management are controversial and difficult to apply in the acute clinical *** to sparse data on these injuries,we carried out a retrospective review to determine outcomes following surgical or non-surgical management of traumatic pancreatic *** hypothesize a higher morbidity and mortality rate in patients treated surgically when compared to patients treated ***:We performed a retrospective review of data from four trauma centers in New York from 1990–2014,comparing patients who had blunt traumatic pancreatic injuries who were managed operatively to those managed *** compared continuous variables using the Mann-Whitney U test and categorical variables using the chi-square and Fisher’s exact *** analysis was performed to determine the possible confounding factors associated with mortality in both treatment ***:Twenty nine patients were managed operatively and 32 *** was a significant difference between the operative and non-operative groups in median age(37.0 vs.16.2 years,p=0.016),grade of pancreatic injury(grade I;30.8 vs.85.2%,p value for all comparisonsp=0.002),blood transfusion(55.2 vs.15.6%,p=0.0012),other abdominal injuries(79.3 vs.38.7%,p=0.0014),pelvic fractures(17.2 vs.0.00%,p=0.020),intensive care unit(ICU)admission(86.2 vs.50.0%,p=0.003),median length of stay(LOS)(16.0 vs.4.0 days,pp=0.010).Conclusions:patients with traumatic pancreatic injuries treated operatively were more severely injured and suffered greater complications than those treated *** greater morbidity and mortality associated with these patients warrants further study to determine optimal triage strategies and which subset of patients is likely to benefit from surgery.

Metamizole(MZ)is a widely used anti-inflammatory *** to its common use,this contaminant is found in sewage and *** order to reduce the contamination produced by the MZ,we fabricated in this work a photocatalytic composite using recycled polyethylene(RpE)and the CaLaCoO_(9)(LCCO)*** nanoparticles had a microplate-like morphology and sizes of 1.4–5.5μm according to the analysis of *** photocatalytic properties of the LCCO powders were evaluated under ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)irradiation and found a removal efficiency of 96%.When the RpE+LCCO composite was employed for the photocatalytic degradation of MZ,a maximum degradation of 92.5%was *** influence of the pH on the photocatalytic activity was also studied and found that an initial pH=3 produced a total degradation of MZ after 240 min of UV-Vis ***,three reuse cycles were carried out for the pure LCCO powders and for the RpE+LCCO composites and found that the maximum loss of degradation was 5%.Furthermore,scavenger experiments demonstrated that the super oxide and hydroxyl radicals are formed during the photocatalytic reaction and were responsible for the degradation of ***,the X-ray photoelectron-spectroscopy and Raman analysis demonstrated the formation of defects(oxygen vacancies),those ones delayed the electron-hole recombination,which in turn,enhanced the degradation of the ***,the studies performed in this work proved that composites made with recycled plastics and LCCO perovskites are a low-cost and feasible alternative for the cleaning of water sources polluted with pharmaceutical compounds.

Spinal cord injury results in paralysis, sensory disturbances, sphincter dysfunction, and multiple systemic secondary conditions, most arising from autonomic dysregulation. All this produces profound negative psychosocial implications for affected people, their families, and their communities;the financial costs can be challenging for their families and health institutions. Treatments aimed at restoring the spinal cord after spinal cord injury, which have been tested in animal models or clinical trials, generally seek to counteract one or more of the secondary mechanisms of injury to limit the extent of the initial damage. Most published works on structural/functional restoration in acute and chronic spinal cord injury stages use a single type of treatment: a drug or trophic factor, transplant of a cell type, and implantation of a biomaterial. Despite the significant benefits reported in animal models, when translating these successful therapeutic strategies to humans, the result in clinical trials has been considered of little relevance because the improvement, when present, is usually insufficient. Until now, most studies designed to promote neuroprotection or regeneration at different stages after spinal cord injury have used single treatments. Considering the occurrence of various secondary mechanisms of injury in the acute and sub-acute phases of spinal cord injury, it is reasonable to speculate that more than one therapeutic agent could be required to promote structural and functional restoration of the damaged spinal cord. Treatments that combine several therapeutic agents, targeting different mechanisms of injury, which, when used as a single therapy, have shown some benefits, allow us to assume that they will have synergistic beneficial effects. AIM: To investigate middle hepatic vein(MHV)management in adult living donor liver transplantation and safer remnant volumes(RV).METHODS: There were 59 grafts with and 12 grafts without MHV(including 4 with MHV-5/8 reconstructions).All donors underwent our five-step protocol evaluation containing a preoperative protocol liver biopsy Congestive vs non-congestive RV, remnantvolumebody-weight ratios(RVBWR) and postoperative outcomes were evaluated in 71 right graft living donors. Dominant vs non-dominant MHV anatomy in total liver volume(d-MHV/TLV vs nd-MHV/TLV) was constellated with large/small congestion volumes(CVindex).Small for size(SFS) and non-SFS remnant considerations were based on standard cut-off- RVBWR and RV/TLV. Non-congestive RVBWR was based on non-congestive ***: MHV and non-MHV remnants showed no significant differences in RV, RV/TLV, RVBWR, total bilirubin, or INR. SFS-remnants with RV/TLV pectively(p = 0.423 and p = 0.919. Mean left RV/TLV was 35.8% ± 3.9%.Non-MHV(n = 59) and MHV-containing(n = 12)remnants(34.1% ± 3% vs 36% ± 4% respectively,p = 0.148. Eight SFS-remnants with RVBWR p p ped reversible liver *** and RV/TLV were concordant in 25%-33%of SFS and in 92%-94% of non-SFS remnants. AIM: To analyze the national trends associated with body mass index(BMI) and living kidney ***: Forty-seven thousand seven hundred and five adult living kidney donors as reported to the Organ procurement and Transplantation Network from 1999 to 2011 were analyzed using their pre-donation BMI. predictor variables of interest included age, gender, ethnicity, relationship, education status, and transplant ***: Sixteen thousand nine hundred and seventyone of the living kidney donors were normal weight(35.6%); 19337 were overweight(40.5%); 9007 were mildly obese(18.9%); 1992 were moderate to morbidly obese(4.2%). Overweight and mildly obese kidney donors have increased through time by 12% and 20% every 5 years, respectively(p panic males or females and black females, those with high school diploma or general Education Degree, and biologically related or partner/spouses were more likely to be ***: Over the past 13 years, the majority of living kidney donors have spanned the overweight to obese categories. paralleling the national rise is an increase in overweight and mildly obese kidney donors. A fair number of moderate to morbidly obese living kidney donors are still allowed to donate.

The objective of the current study is to investigate the importance of entropy generation and thermal radiation on the patterns of velocity,isentropic lines,and temperature contours within a thermal energy storage device filled with magnetic nanoencapsulated phase change materials(NEpCMs).The versatile finite element method(FEM)is implemented to numerically solve the governing *** effects of various parameters,including the viscosity parameter,ranging from 1 to 3,the thermal conductivity parameter,ranging from 1 to 3,the Rayleigh parameter,ranging from 102 to 3×10^(2),the radiation number,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,the fusion temperature,ranging from 1.0 to 1.2,the volume fraction of NEpCMs,ranging from 2%to 6%,the Stefan number,ranging from 1 to 5,the magnetic number,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,and the irreversibility parameter,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,are examined in detail on the temperature contours,isentropic lines,heat capacity ratio,and velocity ***,the heat transfer rates at both the cold and hot walls are analyzed,and the findings are presented *** results indicate that the time taken by the NEpCMs to transition from solid to liquid is prolonged inside the chamber region as the fusion temperatureθf ***,the contours of the heat capacity ratio Cr decrease with the increase in the Stefan number Ste.
