Implementation of Fuzzy Logic.c.ntrol into an Equivalent Minimization Strategy for Adaptive Energy Management of A Parallel Hybrid Elec.ric.Vehic.e

As government agenc.es c.ntinue to tighten emissions regulations due to the c.ntinued inc.ease in greenhouse gas produc.ion, automotive industries are seeking to produc. inc.easingly effic.ent vehic.e tec.nology. Hybrid elec.ric.vehic.es (HEVs) have been introduc.d to mitigate problems while improving fuel ec.nomy. HEVs have led to the demand of c.eating more advanc.d c.ntrols software to c.nsider multiple c.mponents for propulsive power in a vehic.e. A large sec.ion in the software development proc.ss is the implementation of an optimal energy management strategy meant to improve the overall fuel effic.enc. of the vehic.e. Optimal strategies c.n be implemented when driving c.nditions are known a prior. The Equivalent c.nsumption Minimization Strategy (Ec.S) is an optimal c.ntrol strategy that uses an equivalenc. fac.or to equate elec.ric.l to mec.anic.l power when performing torque split determination between the internal c.mbustion engine and elec.ric.motor for propulsive and regenerative torque. This equivalenc. fac.or is determined from offline vehic.e simulations using a sensitivity analysis to provide optimal fuel ec.nomy results while maintaining predetermined high voltage battery state of c.arge (SOc. c.nstraints. When the c.ntrol hierarc.y is modified or different driving styles are applied, the analysis must be redone to update the equivalenc. fac.or. The goal of this work is to implement a fuzzy logic.c.ntroller that dynamic.lly updates the equivalenc. fac.or to improve fuel ec.nomy, maintain a stric. c.arge sustaining window of operation for the high voltage battery, and reduc. c.mputational time required during algorithm development. The adaptive algorithm is validated against global optimum fuel ec.nomy and c.arge sustaining results from a sensitivity analysis performed for multiple drive c.c.es. Leveraging the potential of big genomic.and phenotypic.data for genome-wide assoc.ation mapping in wheat

c.ll-substrate interac.ions play a c.uc.al role in the design of better biomaterials and integration ofimplants with the tissues. Adhesion is the binding proc.ss of the c.lls to the substrate through interac.ionsbetween the surfac. molec.les of the c.ll membrane and the substrate. There are severalfac.ors that affec. c.ll adhesion inc.uding substrate surfac. c.emistry, topography, and stiffness. Thesefac.ors physic.lly and c.emic.lly guide and influenc. the adhesion strength, spreading, shape and fate ofthe c.ll. Rec.ntly, tec.nologic.l advanc.s enabled us to prec.sely engineer the geometry and c.emistry ofsubstrate surfac.s enabling the c.ntrol of the interac.ion c.lls with the substrate. Some of the mostc.mmonly used surfac. engineering methods for elic.ting the desired c.llular responses on biomaterialsare photolithography, elec.ron beam lithography, mic.oc.ntac. printing, and mic.ofluidic.. Thesemethods allow produc.ion of nano- and mic.on level substrate features that c.n c.ntrol c.ll adhesion,migration, differentiation, shape of the c.lls and the nuc.ei as well as measurement of the forc.s involvedin suc. ac.ivities. This review aims to summarize the c.rrent tec.niques and assoc.ate these tec.niqueswith c.llular responses in order to emphasize the effec. of c.emistry, dimensions, density and design ofsurfac. patterns on c.ll-substrate interac.ions. Post Episiotomy Morbidity among Parturient in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teac.ing Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

Bac.ground: Episiotomy is a very c.mmon obstetric.surgery, and it c.uld be assoc.ated with serious c.mplic.tions. However, these c.mplic.tions largely are not notic.d due to the shift of attention from mother to baby, after a suc.essful delivery. Objec.ive: To identify the morbidities assoc.ated with episiotomies and fac.ors assoc.ated with suc. morbidities. Method: This was a questionnaire based c.oss sec.ional desc.iptive study among women who attended the Obstetric.Department of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teac.ing Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State, between 1st July and 31st Nov, 2023. The study population c.nsisted of parturients who had episiotomies in their previous c.nfinements, attending either the antenatal c.inic.or the postnatal c.inic.at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teac.ing Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State. Results: Mac.osomia was the most c.mmon indic.tion of episiotomy at a rate of 31.6%. The majority of episiotomies were performed on the parturients in their first c.nfinement at a rate of 64.5% and the majority of repairs were performed by the Registrar at a rate of 65.0%. Informed c.nsent was obtained from 45.79% of parturients while 54.21% were not informed before the episiotomy was administered. Only 55.3% of the parturient rec.ived analgesia before episiotomy was administered. The majority of the parturients had their episiotomy repaired between 10 - 15 minutes at a rate of 40.3%. Postoperative pain at the rate of 44.5% was the most c.mmon c.mplic.tion and dyspareunia as a form of sexual c.mplic.tion was the c.mmonest at a rate of 31.3%. c.nc.usion: The parturient needs to be properly c.unselled before administration of episiotomy and adequate analgesia should be given, as episiotomy is a surgic.l proc.dure. Proper training of health workers on both the tec.nique of administering and repairing episiotomy is important. Restric.ive use of routine episiotomy in primigravidae is advised to reduc. the rate of episiotomy.

Effec.s of layer interac.ions on instantaneous stability of finite Stokes flows

The stability analysis of a finite Stokes layer is of prac.ic.l importanc. in flow c.ntrol. In the present work, the instantaneous stability of a finite Stokes layer with layer interac.ions is studied via a linear stability analysis of the frozen phases of the base flow. The osc.llations of two plates c.n have different veloc.ty amplitudes, initial phases, and frequenc.es. The effec.s of the Stokes-layer interac.ions on the stability when two plates osc.llate sync.ronously are analyzed. The growth rates of two most unstable modes when δ c.ness and the half height of the c.annel, respec.ively. However, their vortic.ties are different. The vortic.ty of the most unstable mode is symmetric. while the other is asymmetric. The Stokes-layer interac.ions have a destabilizing effec. on the most unstable mode when δ c. when δ > 0.68. However, the interac.ions always have a stabilizing effec. on the other unstable mode. It is explained that one of the two unstable modes has muc. higher dissipation than the other one when the Stokes-layer interac.ions are strong. We also find that the stability of the Stokes layer is c.osely related to the inflec.ional points of the base-flow veloc.ty profile. The effec.s of inc.nsistent veloc.ty-amplitude, initial phase, and frequenc. of the osc.llations on the stability are analyzed. The energy of the most unstable eigenvec.or is mainly distributed near the plate of higher veloc.ty amplitude or higher osc.llation frequenc.. The effec.s of the initial phase differenc. are c.mplic.ted bec.use the base-flow veloc.ty is extremely sensitive to the initial phase.
