The laws of conservation of energy, linear momentum. and angular momentum of a system form a closed unit according to Noether's theorem. A generalization of these laws (including spin) for elementary par- ticles taking into account the states of negative energies of the Dirac vacuum is given. A new interpretation of the β-decay of nuclei without neutrinos. using interactions with Dirac's anti-world is discussed, which ex- plains all characteristics of the β-continuum. A quantum-electrodynamic theory of β-decay is presented in which Fermi's constant g of weak interactions is determined from first principles (without neutrinos). The lat- ter is an expression of e, h, c, m, m, and R, i.e., g is not an independent constant of physics nor is it necessa- ry to measure it.

It is shown that mercury's motion of the perihelion around the Sun, which is believed to be explicable quantitatively only by general relativity, can be fully understood within the frame of the dynamics of special relativity. It is only necessary to take into consideration the relativistic dependence of the planet's inertial and gravitational masses on its velocity (relative to the Sun) in the conservation equations for energy, and linear and angular momenta in the gravitational field. The physical Problem is reduced to a singular, nonlinear differential equation, which is solved numerically for the planet mercury. The advance of the perihelion of mercury is shown to be = 42.087' for a period of 100 years, which is in agreement with the as- tronomical observations and the result (by analytical approximations) of general relativity.

It is unknown if resting sharks can sleep, which is also true for gliding ones. Here, a videotaped bull shark is presented that drifted in an uncontrolled manner for 120 seconds while sinking with 0.1 m/second. Several aspects are discussed to determine if the shown behavior reflects the commonly accepted definition of sleep. Additionally, the idea is also discussed if this state might reflect a “quiet waking state” instead of where the shark still maintained some vigilance despite its general appearance.

Sharks and sharksuckers maintain a mutualistic symbiotic relationship;thus, it is surprising to observe a lemon shark, Negaprion brevirostris, killing a sharksucker, Echeneis lucrates, which has been recorded during a dive with lemon sharks. Does this observation indicate that the symbiosis between the two species may shift occasionally? The awkwardness of the recorded kill, combined with its comparatively long duration, suggests this bout be a freak incident, rather than a common occurrence;thus, the mutualistic relationship needs not be questioned. What triggered the bout, however, can only be speculated. Although the caloric value of the killed sharksucker is not known, a feeding-oriented behavior can likely be rejected as the potential cause based on the teleost’s rather small size, and an irritation related issue is more likely to have triggered this bout.

A reconfigurable modular robot was developed for a free-flying robot project. This robot was composed of 6 same modular joints and one gripper. In order to save space and cost for transporting it into the space, the robot should be folded overall and locked. A big central hole in the modular joint was designed for the placement of the cables and plugs in the robot arm, which prevented them from damage of high temperature, radiation in the space environment and the motion of the robot. multiple sensors were integrated into the fully modular joint, such as joint torque sensor, joint position sensor and temperature sensors, which made the joint more intelligent. A zero gravity experimental system was developed to verify the functions of the robot under zero gravity environment.

A Study of Shark Stealth Behavior in the Proximity of Divers

This study examines the approach patterns of sharks in the vicinity of human divers, focusing on the diver’s body orientation and a shark’s distance from the sea bed when approaching the diver. A standardized video method was used to record the scenario of diver(s) kneeling in the sand while being approached by sharks. This showed that sharks had a preference to move in from outside a diver’s field of vision while larger sharks stayed closer to the sea floor. This may simultaneously enhance camouflage while reducing potential escape routes for the approaching animal. This stealth behavior raises the question of how sharks may interpret humans when moving towards them.

BACKGROUND This study evaluates the American Thyroid Association(ATA)ultrasound(US)classification system for the initial assessment of thyroid nodules to determine if it indeed facilitates clinical *** To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the diagnostic value of the ATA US classification system for the initial assessment of thyroid *** In accordance with the PRISmA statement for diagnostic test accuracy,we selected articles that evaluated the 2015 ATA US pattern guidelines using a diagnostic gold *** analyzed these cases using traditional diagnostic parameters,as well as the threshold approach to clinical decision-making and decision curve *** We reviewed 13 articles with 8445 thyroid nodules,which were classified according to 2015 ATA *** these,46.62%were *** cancer was found in any of the ATA benign pattern *** Bayesian analysis post-test probability for cancer in each classification was:(1)Very-low suspicion,0.85%;(2)Low,2.6%;(3)Intermediate,6.7%;and(4)High,40.9%.The net benefit(NB),expressed as avoided interventions,indicated that the highest capacity to avoid unnecessary fine needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB)in the patterns that we studied was 42,31,35,and 43 of every 100 *** NB calculation for a probability threshold of 11%for each of the ATA suspicion patterns studied is less than that of performing FNAB on all *** These three types of analysis have shown that only the ATA high-suspicion diagnostic pattern is clinically useful,in which case,FNAB should be ***,the curve decision analysis has demonstrated that using the ATA US risk patterns to decide which patients need FNAB does not provide a greater benefit than performing FNAB on all thyroid ***,it is likely that a better way to approach the assessment of thyroid nodules would be to perform FNAB on all non-cystic nodules,as the present analysis has shown the ATA risk patterns

Early Initial Diagnosis of Gardner Syndrome in a 12-Year-Old Boy

A 12-year-old boy presented to his primary care physician with a painful lump at the angle of the left mandible after being kicked in the jaw during a soccer game. Over the next 2 months the lesion became progressively firmer and fine needle aspiration was attempted. Results were non-diagnostic. Panorex examination revealed a calcified mass contiguous with the left angle of the mandible. Considerations were bony callus secondary to trauma versus a calcified hematoma. A maxillofacial CT showed multiple diffuse craniofacial osseous lesions including the clinically suspected region at the left angle of the mandible. Imaging findings were consistent with multiple craniofacial osteomas and workup for Gardner Syndrome was initiated. Genetic testing was subsequently positive for Familial Adenomatous Polyposis.
