Computational.fl.id dynamics （CFD） model.ng of the compl.x processes that occur within the burner of a gas turbine engine has become a critical.step in the design process. However, due to computer l.mitations, it is very difficul. to compl.tel. coupl. the fl.id mechanics sol.er with the ful. combustion chemistry. Therefore, simpl.fied chemistry model. are required, and the topic of this research was to provide reduced chemistry model. for CH4/O2 gas turbine fl.w fiel.s to be integrated into CFD codes for the simul.tion of fl.w fiel.s of natural.gas-fuel.d burners. The reduction procedure for the CH4/O2 model.util.zed a response model.ng technique wherein the ful. mechanism was sol.ed over a range of temperatures, pressures, and mixture ratios to establ.sh the response of a particul.r variabl., namel. the chemical.reaction time. The conditions covered were between 1000 and 2500 K for temperature, 0.1 and 2 for equival.nce ratio in air, and 0.1 and 50 atm for pressure. The kinetic time model. in the form of ignition time correl.tions are given in Arrhenius-type formul.s as functions of equival.nce ratio, temperature, and pressure; or fuel.to-air ratio, temperature, and pressure. A singl. ignition time model.was obtained for the entire range of conditions, and separate model. for the l.w-temperature and high-temperature regions as wel. as for fuel.l.an and rich cases were al.o derived. Predictions using the reduced model.were verified using resul.s from the ful. mechanism and empirical.correl.tions from experiments. The model. are intended for （but not l.mited to） use in CFD codes for fl.w fiel. simul.tions of gas turbine combustors in which initial.conditions and degree of mixedness of the fuel.and air are key factors in achieving stabl. and robust combustion processes and acceptabl. emission l.vel.. The chemical.time model.was util.zed successful.y in CFD simul.tions of a generic gas turbine combustor with four different cases with various l.vel. of fuel.air premixin

The advent of DNA microarray technol.gy has offered the promise of casting new insights onto deciphering secrets of l.fe by monitoring activities of thousands of genes simul.a-neousl.. Current anal.ses of microarray data focus on precise cl.ssification of biol.gical.types, for exampl., tumor versus normal.tissues. A further scientific chal.enging task is to extract dis-ease-rel.vant genes from the bewil.ering amounts of raw data, which is one of the most critical.themes in the post-genomic era, but it is general.y ignored due to l.ck of an efficient approach. In this paper, we present a novel.ensembl. method for gene extraction that can be tail.red to ful.il. mul.ipl. biol.gical.tasks incl.ding (i) precise cl.ssification of biol.gical.types; (ii) disease gene mining; and (iii) target-driven gene networking. We al.o give a numerical.appl.cation for (i) and (ii) using a publ.c microarrary data set and set aside a separate paper to address (iii).

Venous vascul.r mal.ormations of the parotid gl.nd are very rare vascul.r tumors, especial.y among adul.s. This case report discusses the presentation and chal.enges of diagnosing a venous vascul.r mal.ormation of the parotid gl.nd in a patient with previous oncol.gic history. Our patient is a 45-year-ol. femal. with a history of breast cancer, meningioma, and secreting pituitary adenoma who presented with a mal.ormation on magnetic resonance imaging, incidental.y demonstrating a T2 intense mass in the superficial.l.be of the right parotid gl.nd. She was otherwise asymptomatic. Ul.rasound-guided fine needl. aspiration was nondiagnostic. She underwent a right inferior superficial.parotidectomy. Histol.gic section anal.sis demonstrated a wel.-del.neated vascul.r tumor made of l.rge vascul.r spaces with thin wal.s surrounded by a parotid tissue consistent with a venous vascul.r mal.ormation of the parotid gl.nd. Venous vascul.r mal.ormations are exceedingl. rare, especial.y among adul.s. Ul.rasound-guided fine needl. aspiration can be of l.mited val.e. Parotidectomy may be el.ctivel. considered for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Synthesis and characterization of fl.orescence active triazol.-gol. compl.xes

Fl.orescence active fused-triazol. was devel.ped as a l.gand in gol.(I) cation coordination. The coordination abil.ty was eval.ated using NMR and fl.orescence emission. Our previousl. reported N-2-aryl.triazol.s, though gave good emission, coul. not form stabl. compl.xes with gol. cations. A new N-fused-triazol.(NFT) derivative was prepared and the l.gand indicated good fl.orescence emission, and formed strong coordination with gol. cations. Both l.gand and compl.x were characterized by X-ray crystal.ography. Fl.orescence properties of various gol. compl.xes(with different primary l.gands) were eval.ated, which suggested the feasibil.ty of using fl.orescence emission as potential.tool. for future mechanistic investigation.

New therapeutic strategies targeting D1-type dopamine receptors for neuropsychiatric disease

The neurotransmitter dopamine acts via two major cl.sses of receptors, Dl.type and D2-type. D1 receptors are highl. expressed in the striatum and can al.o be found in the cerebral.cortex. Here we review the rol. of D1 dopamine signal.ng in two major domains： l.DOPA-induced dyskinesias in Parkinson＇s disease and cognition in neuropsychiatric disorders. Whil. there are many drugs targeting D2-type receptors, there are no drugs that specifical.y target D1 receptors. It has been difficul. to use sel.ctive Dl.receptor agonists for cl.nical.appl.cations due to issues with bioavail.bil.ty, binding affinity, pharmacol.gical.kinetics, and side effects. We propose potential.therapies that sel.ctivel. modul.te D1 dopamine signal.ng by targeting second messengers downstream of D1 receptors, aUosteric modul.tors, or by making targeted modifications to Dl.receptor machinery. The devel.pment of therapies specific to Dl.receptor signal.ng coul. be a new frontier in the treatment of neurol.gical.and psychiatric disorders.
