The development of new battery materials with fast charging/discharging capabilities is necessary to meet the growing demands of modern *** counter ion transport in inorganic materials(generally by de/intercalation)currently limits charge/discharge rates in lithium-ion batteries,the weak intermolecular forces in organic materials result in flexible,spacious structures that offer improved ion transport ***,we present the principles which enable fast rate capabilities in organic electrode materials,accompanied by specific literature examples illustrating exceptional rate *** discuss approaches to material design which support electron and/or ion transport and the limitations associated with each *** review aims to highlight the unique characteristics of organic materials as high-power density electrodes and inspire continued work in the field.

Results of the two-dimensionally reconstructed distribution of soft X-ray emission in HL-2A and electromagnetic radiation in large helical device （LHd） are presented. Hardware improvements of in-vessel soft X-ray cameras and the development of tomographic software have made detailed and visual studies of soft X-ray emission possible in HL-2A. Several algorithms are employed in order to get as detail as possible in the images while keeping the guiding assumptions to a minimum. Recently success has been achieved in applying a 2d peeling away algorithm for tomographic reconstruction of LHd bolometric data jointly under the China-Japan collaboration. The data analysed so far have been used to study magnetohydrodynamic （MHd） instabilities on HL-2A tokamak and radiation losses on LHd.

We propose an efficient and low-power second harmonic generation(SHG)process in a silicon-compatible hybrid plasmonic microring *** making the microring resonator doubly resonant at the fundamental wavelength of 3.1μm and second harmonic wavelength of 1.55μm,the SHG efficiency is enhanced by almost two orders of magnitude when compared to the previous result induced in a straight plasmonic waveguide.A SHG efficiency of 13.71%is predicted for a low pump power of 20 mW in a ring with radius of 2.325μ*** device provides a potential route for realizing efficient frequency conversion between mid-infrared and near-infrared wavebands on a chip.

We show that induced synomones, emitted as a consequence of Murgantia histrionica activity on Brassica oleracea, are adsorbed by the epicuticular waxes of leaves and perceived by the egg parasitoid Trissolcus brochymenae. Leaves were exposed to M. histrionica females placed on the abaxial leaf surface. After 24 h, the leaves were treated mechanically using gum arabic, or chemically using chloroform, on the adaxial surface, and finally the adaxial surface was assayed with T. brochymenae by two-choice tests in a closed arena. Wasp females responded to mechanically dewaxed cabbage leaf portions with feeding punctures and footprints （Ff） and with feeding punctures, oviposition and footprints （FOr）, showing no effect of wax removal. In contrast, the removal of the epicuticular waxes from leaf portions close to FOf, and from leaves with oviposition and footprints （Of）, determined the lack of responses by T. brochymenae. Solvent extracts of different treatments were bioassayed, but only FOr triggered parasitoid response. Thus the detection of oviposition-induced synomones by the parasitoid depends on their adsorption by the epicuticular waxes. Mechanical wax removal from leaf portions contaminated with host footprints （f） also determined a lack of wasp responses, suggesting that the footprints might trigger the induction of a ＂footprint-induced synomone＂ adsorbed onto the epicuticular waxes and exploited by the parasitoid. Leaf portions with the abaxial lamina previously dewaxed and then contaminated by footprints （d＋f） of M. histrionica did not affect the parasitoid response, indicating that the abaxial epicuticular waxes are not directly involved in the chemicals induced by M. histrionica footprints.

Animal habitat selection, among other ecological phenomena, is spatially scale dependent. Habitat selection by American beavers (hereafter, beaver) has been studied at singular spatial scales, but to date no research addresses multi-scale selection. Our objectives were to determine if beaver habitat selection was specialized to semiaquatic habitats and if variables explaining habitat selection are consistent between landscape and fine spatial scales. We built maximum entropy (MaxEnt) models to relate landscape-scale presence-only data to landscape variables, and used generalized linear mixed models to evaluate fine spatial scale habitat selection using global positioning system (GPS) relocation data. Explanatory variables between the landscape and fine spatial scale were compared for consistency. Our findings suggested that beaver habitat selection at coarse (study area) and fine (within home range) scales was congruent, and was influenced by increasing amounts of woody wetland edge density and shrub edge density, and decreasing amounts of open water edge density. Habitat suitability at the landscape scale also increased with decreasing amounts of grass frequency. As territorial, central-place foragers, beavers likely trade-off open water edge density (i.e., smaller non-forested wetlands or lodges closer to banks) for defense and shorter distances to forage and obtain construction material. Woody plants along edges and expanses of open water for predator avoidance may limit beaver fitness and subsequently determine beaver habitat selection.

The Troy Bedrock Valley (TBV) and its tributary valleys are the principal pre-glacial drainage in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, USA. This study focused on the headwaters of a tributary that occurs in McHenry County, IL. drilling, geophysical surveys, and the analysis of existing geologic and water well data were used to determine the lithologic and geometric characteristics of the sediments that fill the paleovalley. A 3d geologic model of these sediments was then developed in Petrel. More than 65 m of Quaternary sediments filled the paleovalley. The model domain covers approximately 30 km2. The valley drains to the west and meanders, which is distinct from the straight course of the overlying modern Kishwaukee River. The sediments that filled the valley were subdivided into five units. These units include Illinois-age Glasford Formation coarse-grained proglacial outwash and alluvial deposits (GS2, GS1) and fine-grained lacustrine and diamicton deposits (G2 and G1). The Wisconsin-age Henry Formation sand and gravel cap the valley fill, and Cahokia alluvium buries everything.

This study investigated the adsorption of Hg（Ⅱ） on Macrocystis pyrifera and Undaria pinnatifida in monometallic system in the presence of Zn（II）,Cd（Ⅱ） and Ni（II）.The two biosorbents reached the same maximum sorption capacity （q m = 0.8 mmol/g） for *** showed a greater affinity （given by the coefficient b of the Langmuir equation） for mercury compared to *** （4.4 versus 2.7 L/mmol）.Mercury uptake was significantly reduced （by more than 50%） in the presence of competitor heavy metals such as Zn（II）,Cd（II） and Ni（Ⅱ）.Samples analysis using an environmental scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis showed that mercury was heterogeneously adsorbed on the surface of both biomaterials,while the other heavy metals were homogeneous *** analysis of biosorbents by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry indicated that Hg（Ⅱ） binding occurred on S=O （sulfonate） and N-H （amine） functional groups.

（A165Cu20Fe15）100-xSnx （x=0, 12, 20, 30） and A157SitoCulsFe15 powders were cladded on a medium carbon steel （45# steel） substrate by laser multilayer cladding, respectively. The phases and properties of the produced quasicrystalline bulks were investigated. It was found that the main phases in the A165Cu2oFe15 sample were crystalline L-Al13Fe4 and icosahedral quasicrystal together with a small volume fraction of 0-A12Cu phase. The volume fraction of icosahedral phase decreased as the Sn content in the （A165Cu20Fe18）100-xSnx samples increased owing to the formation of β-CuSn phase. The increase of Sn content improved the brittleness of the quasicrystal samples. The morphology of the solidification microstructure in the Al57Si10Cu18Fe15 sample changed from elongated shape to spherical shape due to the addition of Si. The nanohardness of the laser multilayer cladded quasicrystal samples was equal to that of the as-cast sample prepared by vacuum quenching. In terms of hardness, the laser cladded A157Si10Cu18Fe15 quasicrystalline alloy has the highest value among all the investigated samples.
