We systemically investigate the nature of Ce 4f electrons in structurally layered heavy-fermion compounds Ce_(m)M_(n)In_(3m+2n)(with M=Co,Rh,Ir,and Pt,m=1,2,n=0–2),at low temperature using on-resonance angle-resolved photoemission *** heavy quasiparticle bands f^(0),f^(1/7/2)and f^(1/5/2),are observed in all compounds,whereas their intensities and energy locations vary greatly with *** strong f0 states imply that the localized electron behavior dominates the Ce 4f *** Ce 4f electrons are partially hybridized with the conduction electrons,making them have the dual nature of localization and *** quantitative comparison reveals that the f^(1/5/2)–f^(0)intensity ratio is more suitable to reflect the 4f-state hybridization strength.

Introduction: Cervical cancer is primarily caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), which transforms normal cervical cells into cancerous cells that are highly resistant to radiation and chemotherapy. Induction of apoptosis in transformed cells is a key strategy in successfully treating HPV-induced cervical cancer. TRAIL (tumor necrosis factor related apoptosis-inducing ligand) has been shown to selectively induce apoptosis in cancer cells by binding to death receptors and activating extrinsic pathways for apoptosis. However, certain cervical cancers—such as the cultured cell line SiHa—are remarkably resistant to TRAIL. In this study, SiHa cells were sensitized to TRAIL by using sanguinarine—derived from the plant Sanguinaria Canadensis—which is known to induce oxidative stress and lead to the upregulation of receptors for TRAIL. Methods: Cultured SiHa cells were exposed to sub-lethal doses of sanguinarine in combination with TRAIL. Cell viability changes as well as the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were assessed. The induction of apoptosis was investigated by assays for caspase activation. Flow cytometry was performed to analyze expression of death receptors 4/5. Results: Treatment of SiHa cells with a combination of sanguinarine and TRAIL led to a significant reduction in cell viability. Significant increase in ROS was observed and caspase activation assays confirmed the induction of apoptosis. Conclusions: The observed synergistic effect of sanguinarine and TRAIL on SiHa cells is promising for the treatment of cervical, and possibly other, HPV-induced cancers. Oxidative stress caused by sanguinarine seems to play a central role in this synergy. The precise link between reactive oxygen species and the possible upregulation of death receptors needs further investigation. This knowledge will enable us to devise more effective treatments for those who suffer from this devastating disease.

Mirror-enhanced super-resolution microscopy

＜正＞In the first part of this paper, differences between chemical pulping and chemical mechanical pulping（CMP） technologies for hardwoods are compared in terms of their technical characteristics, commercial applicability and market conditions, which are all in favor of high yield chemical mechanical pulping, or pulps. Among the different CMP technologies, P-RC APMA and BCTMP were reviewed and compared based on results from the latest and extensive investigations. The results show that P-RC APMP in general uses less energy and less overall chemical cost, gives a better pulp intrinsic properties（which means higher bulk at the same tensile, or higher tensile at the same bulk）, has more efficient use of process equipment and water, and tends to have a lower effluent discharge and high pulp yield. It is also more flexible and able to reach higher brightness ceiling for certain hardwoods species.

Background and Aims:Utilization of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and its relationship with recipient Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) needs further evaluation in the United States (U.S.).We evaluated the association between recipient MELD score at the time of surgery and survival following ***:All *** LDLT recipients with MELD< 25 were evaluated using the 1995-2012 United Network for Organ Sharing *** following LDLTwas stratified into three MELD categories (MELD< 15 *** 15-19 *** 20-24) and evaluated using Kaplan-Meier methods and multivariate Cox proportional hazards ***:Overall,2,258 patients underwent *** to patients with MELD< 15,overall 5-year survival following LDLT was similar among patients with MELD 15-19 (80.9% vs.80.3%,p =0.77) and MELD 20-24 (81.2% vs.80.3%,p =0.73).When compared to patients with MELD<15,there was no significant difference in long-term post-LDLT survival among those with MELD 15-19 (HR:1.11,95% CI:0.85-1.45,p =0.45) and a non-significant trend towards lower survival in patients with MELD 20-24 (HR:1.28,95%CI:0.91-1.81,p =0.16).Only 14% of LDLTs were performed in patients with MELD 20-24 and the remaining 86% in patients with MELD< ***:LDLT is underutilized in patients with MELD 20 and higher.

【Aims】Serum creatinine(sCr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),and serum cystatin C(sCys C) are non-specific traditional biomarkers for monitoring progressive drug- induced kidney injury(DIKI).Most investigations of novel DIKI biomarkers have been carried out in *** this study,we evaluated temporal changes in selected novel DIKI biomarkers in male cynomolgus monkeys following intravenous infusion of the nephrotoxicant,Amphotericin B(AmpB).【 Materials & Methods 】 Monkeys(5/group) were intravenously dosed at 0 and 0.4 mg/kg/day for 10 *** animals were necropsied on Day 11.【 Results 】 AmpB related kidney histopathology findings were characterized primarily as increased mtra-tubular crystal deposition 【interstitial】,increased intra-tubular casts and moderate to mild increased cortical tubular dilatation and ***- induced significant increase in sCr was apparent on Day 9,while no remarkable changes in BUN were observed(when compared to predose values).AmpB-induced acute proteinuria[specifically significant increases in urinary N-acetyl- β-glucosaminidase(uNAG),alpha 1 microglobulin(uAlM),osteopontin(uOPN),albumin(uALB),kidney injury molecule 1(uKIM-1) and total protein(uTP) and moderate but significantly insignificant neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipoprotein(NGAL),clusterin(uCLU) onay 2 only(when compared to pre-dose values)]was evident on Day 2 and uNAG persisted throughout the duration of the ***- induced significant increase in sCys C was evident at termination *** NGAL,OPN,KIM-1 and AIM positive immunolabeling was localized in the damaged cortex-medullary proximal tubular epithelial cells concurrent to acute increases in AIM,OPN,NGAL CLU,and Glutathione S-transferase alpha(GSTa) mRNA expression changes in flash frozen ***-induced acute changes increases in uNAG,uAlM,uOPN,uAlb,uTP,uKIM-1 and uCLU(Day 2) were indicative of cortico-medullary tubular alterations and appeared prior to increases in sCr(Day 9) and sCys C(Day 11).C

Follicular variant papillary thyroid carcinoma(FVPTC) is included in the class of differentiated thyroid cancer and is currently treated as classical variant papillary thyroid carcinoma(cPTC). However, FVPTC has unique tumour features and can behave differently than cP TC. The aim of this study was to investigate whether a low-dose of radioiodine is as effective as a high-dose for remnant ablation on FVPTC patients after total thyroidectomy and to postoperatively judge the recurrence of low-intermediate risk FVPTC. Methods: All data from cPTC and FVPTC patients treated with I-131 at three high-volume centres in China, the United States and France from 2004～2014 were reviewed. The demographic, tumour behaviour, lymph node metastasis, local recurrence and patient survival data were compared between FVPTC and cPTC patients. Then, low-intermediate risk FVPTC patients were divided into three groups: low [3700 MBq(100 mCi)];the postoperative I-131 activities were analysed to evaluate the effectiveness of I-131 therapy for thyroid remnant ablation. Results: A total of 799 surgical cases of FVPTC and cPTC treated with I-131 were identified, including 631 cases of cPTCs and 168 FVPTCs. FVPTC has a larger primary nodule size than cPTC(p <0.05). Lymph node metastases and local recurrence were more prevalent in the cPTC cases than in the FVPTC cases(p<0.01). Then, 139 low-intermediate risk FVPTC patients were divided into 3 groups based on their I-131 dose. For the low-, intermediate-and high-dose groups, the success rates of the ablation were 82.0%, 80% and 81.3%, respectively. The ablation results did not differ significantly between the three groups(p = 0.912). Conclusion: FVPTC has unique tumour features and behaviours. Low-dose ablation may be sufficient in FVPTC patients with low-intermediate risk disease.

Genital human papilloma virus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted virus in the US. Effective HPV vaccines remain controversial and have poor uptake among many adolescent groups. Social media have potential for promoting the HPV vaccine, but little is known about the content or sentiment of social media discussions regarding the vaccine. The purpose of this study was to examine message, context, sentiment, and source characteristics of original HPV- and HPV vaccine-related Twitter posts (tweets) over a 3-month time period. This content mining study used publicly available data purchased from Twitter. One-thousand tweets were randomly selected from a sample of 45,260 English language tweets matching our search criteria and collected from December 2014-january 2015. Tweets were manually coded according to source, context, message, and sentiment characteristics using a coding document developed from previous research. Individuals posted just over half (55%) of tweets, whereas organizations posted 40%. More than half (57%) of all coded tweets were positive, and less than one-fifth were negative. Organizations’ tweets were more likely to be positive than individuals’ tweets. A temporal display of contextual events and tweet spikes demonstrates that positive tweets can increase during newsworthy events (e.g. FDA approval of Gardisil 9). The HPV vaccine was most often discussed under a cancer prevention message frame. In contrast with some existing research, discussions surrounding the HPV vaccine in original Twitter posts are largely positive. Our study reveals opportunities for adolescent health specialists to provide accurate, positive HPV vaccination information via Twitter.
