BACKGROUND Smartwatches have become readily accessible tools for detecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited data on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and engagement in older *** examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed smartwatches for AF detection stratified by *** We analyzed data from the Pulsewatch study,a randomized controlled trial that enrolled patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and CHA2DS2-VASc≥*** participants were equipped with a cardiac patch monitor and a smartwatch-app dyad,while control participants wore the cardiac patch monitor for up to 44 *** evaluated health behavior parameters using standardized tools,including the Consumer Health Activation Index,the Generalized Anxiety Disorder questionnaire,the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey,and wear time of participants categorized into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed statistical analysis using a mixedeffects repeated measures linear regression model to examine differences amongst age *** Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and 3 revealed no significant differences in anxiety,patient activation,perception of physical health and wear *** use of smartwatch technology was associated with a decrease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors demonstrated a willingness to use smartwatches for AF ***,among these study participants,the majority did not experience negative health behavior outcomes or decreased engagement as age increased.

Red meat intake and the risk of endometrial cancer:Metaanalysis of observational studies

Evaluation of the Microclinic Social Network Model for Palestine Refugees with Diabetes at UNRWA Health Centers

Background: UNRWA provides primary healthcare for around 5.9 million Palestine refugees (PRs) in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and Gaza. In 2015, UNRWA started, in cooperation with Microclinic International (MCI), to implement an innovative diabetes program, aiming at improving awareness about diabetes care among PRs with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). This program takes advantage of a unique model of “microclinic” MCI social network program, a novel social network based on diabetes education intervention. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted to evaluate the impact of the UNRWA-MCI program in 115 UNRWA’s HCs in Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank and Gaza. 1000 participants were randomly selected from around 60,000 participants in the program. After training 996 nurses on UNRWA-MCI diabetes care modules, groups of 10 - 15 participants with their social networks (around 20 participants in each group) attended eight weekly sessions, during which the program was introduced. Anthropometric and blood pressure (BP) measurements were collected on weekly basis, while glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was tested before involvement in the program and after completion of sessions with a three month period between both measurements. SPSS Version 22 was used for data analysis. The study protocol was reviewed and cleared by UNRWA, Health Department ethical committee. Results: Out of 1000 patients randomly selected for the evaluation of the impact of the program, 969 (81.9% females, 18.1% males) have completed the study. The average weight loss was 2.0 ± 4.6 Kg and significant improvements were seen in waist circumference (WC), HbA1c and BP (p ≤ 0.001 for all). Overall drop in HbA1c was 0.6 ± 1.2 with 8.5% increase in patients with HbA1c < 7.0 and 9.8% decrease in those with HbA1c ≥ 7.0. About 10.0% of patients with abnormal BP (higher than 140/90 mg/dl based on UNRWA’s criteria for BP of diabetics) had shifted to normal BP. This paper addresses the problem of robust iterative learning control design for a class of uncertain multiple-input multipleoutput discrete linear systems with actuator faults. The stability theory for linear repetitive processes is used to develop formulas for gain matrices design, together with convergent conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities. An extension to deal with model uncertainty of the polytopic or norm bounded form is also developed and an illustrative example is given.

Highly sensitive and reliable detection of multiple myeloma remains a major challenge in liquid biopsy. Herein, for the first time, quantum dot-molecular beacon (QD-MB) functionalized MoS_(2) (QD-MB @MoS_(2)) fluorescent probes were designed for the dual detection of multiple myeloma (MM)-related miRNA-155 and miRNA-150. The results indicate that the two probes can effectively detect miRNA-155 and miRNA-150 simultaneously with satisfactory recovery rates, and the limit of detections (LODs) of miRNA-155 and miRNA-150 in human serum are low to 7.19 fM and 5.84 fM, respectively. These results indicate that our method is the most sensitive detection so far reported and that the designed fluorescent probes with signal amplification strategies can achieve highly sensitive detection of MM-related miRNAs for MM diagnosis.

Insects damaging and penetrating plastic packaged materials has been reported since the *** innovation breakthroughs of plastic biodegradation have been initiated since the discovery of biodegradation of plastics by Tenebrio molitor larvae in 2015 followed by Galleria mellonella in *** we review updated studies on the insect-mediated biodegradation of *** biodegradation by insect larvae,mainly by some species of darkling beetles(Tenebrionidae)and pyralid moths(Pyralidae)is currently a highly active and potentially transformative area of *** the past eight years,publications have increased explosively,including discoveries of the ability of different insect species to biodegrade plastics,biodegradation performance,and the contribution of host and microbiomes,impacts of polymer types and their physic-chemical properties,and responsible enzymes secreted by the host and gut *** date,almost all major plastics including polyethylene(PE),polypropylene(PP),polyvinyl chloride(PVC),polyethylene terephthalate(PET),polyurethane(PUR),and polystyrene(PS)can be biodegraded by *** and ten other insect species representing the Tenebrionidae and Pyralidae *** biodegradation processes are symbiotic reactions or performed by synergistic efforts of both host and gut-microbes to rapidly depolymerize and biodegrade plastics with hourly *** digestive ezymens and bioreagents screted by the insects play an essential role in plasatic biodegradation in certain species of Tenebrionidae and Pyralidae *** research on the insect itself,gut microbiomes,transcriptomes,proteomes and metabolomes has evaluated the mechanisms of plastic biodegradation in *** conclude this review by discussing future research perspectives on insect-mediated biodegradation of plastics.

This study aimed to obtain the first national estimate of the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder(ASD) in Chinese *** targeted the population of 6 to 12-year-old children for this prevalence study by multistage convenient cluster *** Modified Chinese Autism Spectrum Rating Scale was used for the screening *** the target population of 142,086 children,88.5%(n=125,806) participated in the study.A total of 363 children were confirmed as having *** observed ASD prevalence rate was 0.29%(95% CI:0.26%-0.32%) for the overall *** adjustment for response rates,the estimated number of ASD cases was867 in the target population sample,thereby achieving an estimated prevalence of 0.70%(95% CI:0.64%-0.74%).The prevalence was significantly higher in boys than in girls(0.95%;95% CI:0.87%-1.02% versus 0.30%;95%CI:0.26%-0.34%;P ding regular schools,and 68.8% of the children with ASD had at least one neuropsychiatric *** findings provide reliable data on the estimated ASD prevalence and comorbidities in Chinese children.
